► Missing 411: IMPOSSIBLE Disappearances in National Parks
► David Paulides was once a law enforcement officer who became an investigative author with his work on the Missing 411, a collection of books and documentaries covering a range of baffling disappearances within National Parks and other wilderness areas. The Missing 411 can be traced back to a chance encounter with an off-duty park ranger who confided in David about some of the peculiar missing person cases that he was aware of in his park. Some of the cases you can find within the Missing 411 really do seem like impossible disappearances at times, especially many of them from National Parks around the world.

Hey all, just mentioning again for those that don’t know, I’ve changed the channel name!
Secondly, I’m still experimenting with subtitles and good lord they are very time consuming to do! It seems like a 50/50 split on channels that bake them in whether they put them at the top or bottom, but I have taken on board some feedback and it seems most want them to remain at the top.
Be safe all, have a great weekend.

Whistling carries much further than shouting, and it's easier to ascertain the direction a whistle came from - many survival kits will contain whistles for exactly this reason.

They described a "whistling sound", not specifically of a person whistling. Many people carry whistles on the, when hiking in case they get lost, the sound is sharper and clearer than a person shouting and will not only go further, but is easier to track back to the source. So any whistling sound is taken seriously.

i have 2 main theorys for the first story:
theory #1 (most likely): he fell on something sharp like a log and impaled his left shoulder, and took his sweater off to stop the bleeding, and died due to blood loss as he probably stumbled over before falling, gripping his chest as his heart grew weaker. and for the search party, they probably just didn't look hard enough, as the conditions were harsh and it was hard to scan the entire area.
theory #2: his friends shot him and made it look like an accident, as the impalement could be a gunshot wound, and the sweatshirt could've been planted there to make it look like an accident, and as for the search party, they probably led them away from the crime scene.

    • @Lily_049
      @Lily_049 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

I was thinking along those 2 conclusions as well.
At first, I was thinking he might have fallen. But, he would have done anything possible to get his friend's attention. Especially, if he were hurt badly enough.
Shooting off his gun to attract attention.
Then, part of me was thinking: something had to of happened between his "friends". Some kind of fall out & bad blood between them for whatever reasons. Maybe, they were out "bear hunting," as an excuse to get him out there because THE ENTIRE UNIVERSE KNOWS THAT BEARS HIBERNATE IN THE WINTER!!!!
I think, there was unknown conflicts between them that the family didn't know about & it was a false "bear hunting trip" to lead him away from everyone & make it look like an accident.
Maybe, they dug a small grave & put him there.
Participated in his SEARCH & like someone else mentioned, lead them in the wrong direction on purpose & over time, they put him back where he could be "discovered"!
Idk? His "friends" seem suspicious to me, tho.

About the whistling heard during Hildegard's search. It's not uncommon for hikers to carry whistles on them. If you're injured and/or dehydrated shouting will become almost impossible, but a whistle is very easy to still use. It makes me so sad that she might have been out there blowing a whistle hoping that someone would hear it.

    @LindysEpiphany 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +18

The Missing411 enigma intrigues me to no end. The answer to these stories will not be conventional but abstract. So the mind needs to wander into uncharted territory to look for the answers.
Portals are the uncharted territory I have decided could be at play with these Missing411 cases.
I believe that on occasion there is a "thinning of the veil" between dimensions for lack of a better term. When this happens a unwitting person can stumble thru and become stuck. Maybe if they pass away on the other side they pop back here and are found deceased where searchers looked many times. This would also explain why dogs completely lose a scent, as if the lost just dissappeared, well thats because they did.
This would explain the times that children wandered miles in the mountains overnight (different terrain and different distances on the other side) or when rescuers hear someone calling for help but can never find them. The voice eventually getting weaker and fades away. Those who survive saying they had encounters with strange people that wouldn't acknowledge them, or they don't have a clear concept of the amount of time that they were lost. I know if I was lost I would count everyday, especially nights, and they would be seared into my brain!
I have yet to understand why shoes are found more than not, unless they just don't go thru portals.
I'm sure I'll hear about how ridiculous portal theory is,but in my opinion this explanation answers more questions than anything else I've heard so far.

They're working from the false assumption that snow distributes evenly everywhere, his body was found at the bottom of a Precipice aka Cliff/Peak, snow tends to accumulate more at the base of Cliff or Peak. So it's very possible that his body was there and they just didn't notice it bc it had more snow over than they thought it would.
Sounds like he fell by the way his body was positioned and he might of broken something and been disabled then succumb to the weather.

25:00 bloodhounds only track scent on the ground, if the victim was picked up and carried away - they won't follow. Also, "no recollection of events that transpired since her disappearance" might simply mean "no desire to oust yourself as a loon trying to explain those events". In 1993 Russia group of 7 hikers died with 1 survivor that constantly changed her testimony and ended up settling at "horrible weather". Said "we were thrown around like feathers" and "central pole of our tent got torn out". There is no record of a weather capable of such feats in the area. She just didn't want to ruin her reputation even if that means other hikers later might meet the same fate. She also was 16 years old with her whole life ahead of her. Nobody wants a lunatic label attached to them. This is the cost of marginalization and ridicule of "fringe" topics: people clam up and guard their personal interests, and speaking the truth is not in their interest. Natives in the area know dam well what can "throw people around like feathers" and rip out central pole of 4-man oldschool tent, loaded with rocks at the perimeter with all 4 people inside. But who would listen to the natives? We are so modern, advanced and educated that we know everything there is to know about wilderness!

Something weird is going on... clearly. Until the phenomena is found, each person especially those who are well-seasoned like hunters, hikers and campers - who goes off unsupervised and gets lost in hunting, hiking and camping locations, whether found later or not - is ONE MORE REASON to close off those locations.
    - Probably what is still safe, would be monitored / supervised trails / campsites, with judicious use of trailcams recording long-term.

This is what I'm thinking will help to prevent Missing 411 people / cases in the USA (other countries need to adopt this to suit them):
      - Have each person above an early age mandated to rent (or have one of their own) a Two-Way GPS locating device when
they enter a park. Not the kind that works when they press a button, but 2-way. One where the National Park Service
can find using a "where is" signal. Ideally it also should be waterproof and have a camera built-in.... where
using the camera will trigger the device on.
      - The device should be required to have, with a $100 - $200 deposit... money returned upon exit... and should be
      trackable everywhere.
      - This should reduce Missing person cases in our parks to almost 0... thereby virtually eliminating the need for
      extended searches.
      - These are a bit expensive... but how much is the cost of a Search and Rescue? ... or several
Search and Rescues? These devices would pay for themselves.

A whistle is not uncommon kit for a hiker. It's often possible to blow a whistle quite loudly when one is unable to shout. Shouting is hard on the throat (and can increase thirst) while blowing a whistle is much easier.
Finding a hiker "in an area already searched" is also not particularly uncommon. A notable case is that of Geraldine Largay. If you look at the SAR tracklogs map of the search you can see that searchers passed close to her location on two or three occasions. That area would have been considered "searched". Yet because of the terrain she was still not discovered at the time.
The SAR map also is a good indication of how searches are conducted. It's not as if searchers form a straight line and start walking forward - that would be impossible. There are often areas not well covered by searchers but are marked as searched because the decision is made that the lost person would not have travelled there due to the difficulty of the terrain. The last story seems like an abduction type. Just how or who did the abducting would be the question. It follows a pattern similar to others where the victim is unaware of time passing and/or what transpired during that time. Throw in the missing shoes and it goes into that special category we all know about.🤔

Not finding something in "an area searched" is not uncanny or weird. It's not like a video game where one can clik "search" and disclose hidden contents of a room or whatnot. Dogs are by no neans ultimate trackers, especially after precipitation, time, or animal presence.

    To whom it may concern,
No, it’s because they were abducted, whoever abducted them did their thing, and then flown there and dropped there. There is absolutely no other conclusion that a dog loses someone sent in mid stride. It just doesn’t happen, I work with dogs, and they do not, do not lose that sent! So the only conclusion is that they went up or down, there is absolutely no other way. And then try to explain why all of a sudden a storm kicks in when this particular type of incident happens. If a regular person gets lost, and then found, there’s never a storm. There’s only a storm when there’s oddities like the hounds can’t track the scent(and that’s before the storm kicks in by the way, so it’s not from the storm) or a person was there one second and then they weren’t, and all stuff that Dave points out in his books. And you can see his progression as to what he thinks is going on. And his first movie, he just covered cases and didn’t judge one way or another. And his second movie it turned more to Cryptids and such things like that. Now he’s had so many cases, and talk to so many people that have seen things being taken, like that elk that was picked up and brought over the trees and hit the trees, and that was seen by those hunters. And on the cover of it is a UFO, UAP, or USO. So you can see the direction he is going in now, because now he has talked to some real Highup people, and got some information that he probably shouldn’t have. Dave is a great man for putting this stuff out there, and so are you my friend for spreading the information as well! Plus you do wicked cool videos! Back in the day people were ridiculed for being abducted, well it’s undeniable that it’s happening now. Whether it be from outer space, inner earth, or in the seas, these things do not like what we’re doing to our planet. Actually 99% of the people don’t like what we’re doing to our planet, it’s the 1% that get rich that don’t give a crap what happens to our planet because they just want money. So I say they should abduct them, but they probably have a pact with them anyway. Well, that was a hell of a rant for 4:30 in the morning. Thanks for reading my book if you did.

I’m always shocked that no one writes in dirt or on a stone when passing regarding if they died lost and alone or were hurt by someone. Wouldn’t you leave a note if you felt yourself fading? Especially I’d you’re bleeding and can write with blood. Or their names. Just anything???

Even among vast reservations and national park of north america, there could be fauna, which have evolved more advanced defense mechanism.

Not tryna sound like a smarty but a whistling sound in the woods, could possibly be an owl, deer or elk.Although I have heard a sound in the mountains that was extremely loud.Whatever it was, made a loud woosh, with a long shhhh,at the end of it.Several times, with huge lungs, apparently.Ive been in the mountains, thousands of times and cannot explain what the sound was.Am familiar with bear, elk, deer, big cats and all sorts of critters and hopefully one day,we'll all know what it was,as to which it was kinda frightening and perplexing.Of all places,it happened very near an Indian burial ground,on Halloween,at moments before nightfall, with fog and misting rain. And come to think of it,the sound was almost a mimicking of something tryna whistle.Or maybe learning how!Who knows? So anyway, thanks for the vids.I find them entertai ing.In a humanely way,of course.Prayers, good health,to all and farewell. My like and subscription coming up.Peace
