I make bone broths all the time too! Save all the bones from cooked chicken, all your veg scraps, freeze in ziploc bags until you have enough, I use my 22 quart Oster roaster, apple cider vinegar or lemon juice for acid to draw out the gelatin etc, the house smells amazing. I buy those deli containers in short and tall sizes to freeze the broth and am ready for any recipe or just a nice cup of bone broth any time of the day with a dash sea salt, yum!! In our economy it’s good to have the skills to cook from scratch and know how to get the most from the food we buy, thanks so much for sharing this, we need more of this.❤
I use Vermoth to draw out all fat and marrow. Fat I save for hair once in a while. I use snack bags to freeze broth one for lunch n 1 for dinner. Did you add veggies ?
I am going to try this because I always made a beef broth from bones. My mother taught me that. I am 86 and just learning to cook. Loved watching this.
Thanks for your vid. Just right length, great friendly commentary, clear and entertaining descriptions and steps taken and, I simply loved your dishwasher, Maggie. I pay my standard poodle to lick my greasy pans clean prior to washing, too. No more grease into the septic system!
Fellow Carnivore here. As I'm lazy I use battery drill to drill some holes along the bone on opposing sides to let the marrow an collagen leak out. These same bones get used a second time after I've scorched them with a small butane blow torch, this adds a distinctive smokey edge to the flavour profile. Enjoyed watching your video and can't wait to see more.
New subscriber here, this just came up on my feed. Awesome bone broth! About the exact same way I do it. I agree with you about the alcohol...I am not a "strict" carnivore by any means, I enjoy my beverages on weekends etc and still have managed to loose over 45 pounds. I've never tried mixing both beef and chicken but I will for sure try it now seeing your video. I never skim off fat either...that's the best part LOL! Maggie is gorgeous and so lucky to share in the treats you give her! Thanks for sharing you recipe! 💞
Fantastic demo and commentary. Will definitely try it out. Thank you for sharing your experience and expertise with us. Appreciate. Hans Strydom. Fourways. Sandton. South Africa. 🎉
I freeze mine in smaller canning jars. I like to use the Tupperware type lids instead of the metal. Can take right out of freezer and thaw in microwave and then heat to whatever heat you want. Nice video. Thank you.
Have you tried chicken feet in your broth? Some soup recipe called for them and said they added flavor. They are also marketed as “chicken paws”-cracked me up when I first found them at local Walmart. I’ve some bone broth w/beef ribs & chix paws going right now. Thanks for your take on BB.😊
I ALWAYS add chicken feet and cow knuckles and I always get a gelatin bone broth. I save every bone in the freezer and make my bone broth. NO veg in mine because I'm a carnivore. So nourishing and calming to drink. My bones are already roasted from the first cooking.
I laughed out loud when I read "chicken paws" on the wallymart package, also. So ridiculous. My live chickens don't have paws. LOL I put chicken feet in all my bone broths, no ACV and it always gels. You DO NOT need vinegar, cook it longer!!
yes I’ve been making this chk. Leg feet broth for abt a year. It’s sooo delicious n tasty, better than beef bones . It still creeps me out, but I close my eyes knowing it’s so delicious
This was an amazing video. Thank you so much! I just made a hugeee batch of bone broth! Can’t wait to utilize it! Was wondering what you do with the fat? Do you cook with it?
The fat is called tallow and can be used to fry eggs etc. Or basically anything which needs frying if you have a lot. Healthiest form of cooking grease.
You have a work shop, use your band saw to cut the marrow bones. Use chicken feet and cow's feet , both are far richer in collagen, your bone broth will be like jello after a night in the fridge .
I feed the mashed bone residue to my dog. She loves it. I only use bones, no veg, so no onions. Don’t put hot broth in plastic containers, leeches the toxins out of the plastic, better to use canning jars.
Good stuff! ❤ Just one thing, though; people with celiac disease should be careful of bone broth; it contains gluten, and will set of a nasty bout of inflamation.
You must be confusing glutamine with gluten, totally different things. Bone broth contains glutamine not gluten. Glutamine actually helps with gut health and is especially helpful for those with celiac disease. Gluten comes from some grains, not animals.
@@lorelynleisure4048Thank you for replying. Sometimes it is confusing to keep all the chemicals starting with "glut" straight. But Glutamine, glutamate, glutamic acid, etc. are the chemicals produced when gluten is broken down in your body. Natural bone broth is very high in glutamate, which is a neurotransmitter. When a person is glutamate-sensitive, or has too much glutamate in their systems, it becomes a neurotoxin that litterally fries your peripheral nerves, leading to peripheral neuralgia and glove/stocking neuropathy. Very, very nasty. Thanks again!
@@LesMcDonaldNoLimits I must apologise. All the words beginning with "glut" is confusing. The word I meant to use is "glutamine," a byproduct of gluten. But the symptoms of this neurotransmitter remains the same for glutin sensitives, whether it's gluten, glutamine, glutamate, or glutamic acid.
Omg i almost knocked out putting chicken feet in my bone broth today. By the way do i have to clean them? I can't. It was so heavy for me to see the dead meat. And seeing this bone massaka here is also so taff for me. I need a man like him to do this for me😂

100%. I keep a big zip lock freezer bag in the freezer and just keep popping bones in there every tine I have meat that has bones. It adds up!

I tried chicken feet , n it made a better tasting chicken broth. It 😊

You can do it! And I'm so glad you found the video useful. :) And it's so good for our bodies.
I like your honesty and your extra methods on getting the most broth. Keep being creative.
I appreciate that!

Now that's a good idea with the drilling. I will try that!
Thanks! That was the best bone broth video I have seen to date. We've signed up!
Awesome! Thank you! That's a huge compliment!
Love that you let Maggie have the pan drippings. I always call it "prewashing" -- better than paper towels and dogs like having a job! Great video.
So true!

I figure if it's good for me, it's good for her!
Very good ideas. Thanks ! And yes, it is a bit long.
I saw this post in my TH-cam feed. Love making bone broth and always looking for new tips. Nice channel! Enjoyed this video. 3 year carnivore here.
I've only done chicken or beef bone broth but not both. That's about to change now!
Both is so good!

No but it's only because I haven't found any in stores yet. But I will for sure!

Awesome I'm glad you found the recipe helpful. I just cook the fat in with my broth, it's a really important part of it. You need the fat. :)

Thanks for an amazing video. Is your pot 6 or 8 lliters?
Ooh, good questions. I'll go with 6
It would be safer to cut the bone on a vice. Nice video, thanks for sharing.

I csn the broth to make it shelf stable.
Tim the Tool Man 😂😂
I think I get it. No to vegetables and yes to booze.😂

I wasn't aware of that. Where does the gluten come from?
Exactly.

I tried bone broth in the instapot and it would not jell so I'm back to the crock pot.
Ever do ham bones?
Yes, but it's not my preference. Currently. My preferences change for sure.
I am so confused! Can i just put raw bones in instant pot? Do i need to roast them ? Do i need to cook them more than a couple hours?
Roast them for about 20 to 30 minutes until the bone marrow and meat brown. Don't over cook though.
@@LesMcDonaldNoLimits oh interesting. I have been making bone broth all month and just using all raw knuckle bones. It has been delicious!

Ditch the plastic ladles and scoops, and why on earth give the dog to lick a tray u use to eat urself? :S
