    I heard that this is one of the secret ingredients of some coffee shops here in the Philippines. Now this confirms it. It may not be a rumor that eggshells make brewed coffee taste better. Thanks for this innovative learning!

    It seems that I've heard about cowboys adding eggshells to their pot of Joe on the campfire. My understanding was that it helped settle the loose grounds somehow? Not sure.🤔
    But it's always interesting to learn new ways of using things that we normally toss out.

      Eggs I believe are used as a natural fining (removing suspended solids) agent in wine so this makes sense. I believe the whites and shells have compounds that grab solids out of suspension, but I don't remember what exactly it was.

    Korean coffee is made by blending a raw egg yolk in the coffee. If you're raising your own chickens there isn't a risk of salmonella. An egg yolk and a little milk whips up beautifully in a Vitamix and is actually really yummy on coffee. It adds fat and richness plus raw pasture fed egg yolks are high in nutrients! I want to try the shell thing to reduce acid!

    I am new to the idea of using eggshells for my consumption. I know you say to boil the shells to kill harmful bacteria. Would the baking process not be enough to kill the bacteria? I ask because I am thinking the boiling process would also take some of the beneficial properties away, although I really have no idea. Thanks for any additional information. ✌💜💜💜

    • @OurSufficientLife
      @OurSufficientLife  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Melody! Boiling might take some of the calcium, but the entire shell is mainly calcium so as long as there is still shell it's all good. In my experience, if you bake them it is hard to keep them from browning while still baking enough to kill bacteria. Good question!

      i NEVER boil the shells. its a wasted step. the oven will sterilize them while not losing any albumen or the membrane which both contain large amount of minerals. i take them out of the freezer, separate them as much as possible, put them on a rack in a baking pan and bake at 200 deg for 30 minutes. (and i only use organic eggshells)
      done. sterilized. time & energy not wasted.

    • @audreygregis8721
      @audreygregis8721 ปีที่แล้ว

      Calcium doesn't cause kidney stones, oxalates do. Doctors have zero idea, and tell patients they are calcium stones, so cut back on calcium/dairy. Kidney stones are, in fact, calcium oxalic stones, because oxalates bind to calcium, but they also love magnesium and potassium. Actually, oxalates will bind to any and all minerals. Since oxalates need to bind to calcium, that couldn't be worse information. If oxalates can't get calcium from your diet, they will rob your bones, teeth, any skeletal bones. If someone has issues with kidney stones they should INCREASE their calcium/dairy...or, better yet, stop eating high oxalate foods. Do a search for Sally Norton, the oxalate queen. I've been following her and collecting all her interviews for almost 4yrs. She changed my health and life, as well as many other people. She just published her book, Toxic Superfoods, which I'd highly recommend, if you have kidney stone issues. I started using egg shells every morning, adding 1/2 tsp to my over easy eggs, because of a video Dr. Ken Berry did. Within a week, I had tartar on the back of my lower teeth, like I've never had before. Yep, tartar is oxalates. When you have an overabundance, your body gets rid of them any way it can...and one way is thru your saliva, hence, tartar. Btw, adding lemon juice to your water...1 to 2 Tbsps, helps dissolve oxalates.
