Daryl Sabara is my nephew. He has a twin brother named Evan. Several weeks prior to shooting the first Spy Kids movie the actress that was to play the mother bowed out. Evan was in a movie called “A Season for Miracles” starting Carla Gugino and recommended her to Robert Rodriguez. That’s how she got the part.

This movie has an abundance of green screen but at the same time, the story, characters and ideas are so clever and fun, I honestly don't mind it. It's like an early 2000s time capsule

again they have given us a lot of crazy ideas, plenty of creativity and fun, the tone is perfect, they know exactly what this is, its completely self-aware, just the perfect ride for children :D love the concept of the mini zoo thats dope :) also I definitely appreciate the fact that they just go all out with the effects but dont bother hiding it cause it works for kids xD I still remember the merch, it was so cool having Spy Kids stuff, all those different toys, I had the robot bug :P this franchise was absolutely massive back in the day, just the amount of big actors they were able to get for this is insane :D really wonder how you guys gonna react to the 3rd movie, I absolutely loved that one in the cinema, mainly because it was made in that era when 3D was very fresh and kinda experimental, they made that movie completely fit the 3D format and played around with it so its gonna be interesting how you feel about it without the 3D element :P
i was OBSESSED with the tiny animals for YEARS i designed my own mini zoo with legos and stuff i had a loft bed so the entire floor was the zoo sadly none of my animal toys ever became alive lol i was 6 when it came out and im autistic and didn't understand the movie wasn't real so i actually believed they would
“Big budget for a movie that’s just for fun.” It wasn’t just for fun, these movies made BANK. Almost every kid you came across at that time had seen these movies. They played on TV, in classrooms, in the cinema. If you had a property doing that well, you wouldn’t just be making it for fun lol
When I was watching this as a kid, whenever Carmen said, "You are so full of shit..take mushrooms," I thought she was saying, "shit-talking mushrooms." We don't eat mushrooms in my house and that line confused me to no end. I figured that a swear word was no big deal if it was said by a cute little talking mushroom 🤷♀️

We used to watch this a lot as kids cause we have the dvd. Our dad bought this one before the first movie though so we saw this first. I loved watching this so much cause of how cool I thought the gadgets were. Watching your reaction and parts of the movie made me realize that the movie is kinda ridiculous but not in a bad way. It's a movie made for kids and knows what kids would find fun. Still fun watching it as an adult despite that!
Spy Kids 2 was the only movie I have seen of the Spy Kids series. The falling scene is so good, I also loved the god quote and all those spy sunglasses.
It annoys me sm that the villain has a Slizzard, snakes and other reptiles always get portrayed in a negative light, when they’re so beautiful and don’t deserve it at all

I always liked this one better than the first. The first is obviously an important movie to set everything up, but I just feel like this one is more complete and has more outright humor. Plus, as a kid who really liked animals, it was fun seeing all the new creatures.

Not so fun fact: that summer camp is now under investigation for repeate cases of child abuse. I was lucky enough that I wasn't a victim but other kids I attended with are. The second movie was great and exciting as a kid. Yet looking back at it now grown up you can't help but see that it heavily used CGI for most of the film. It seemed like mostly every scene had it. Unlike the first film which always had an actual location being used for filming. It's kind of distracting when you think about it, but it's still enjoyable.
I just realized…. None of us question why Gregorio has to be the director and not the mom…? Like, now that I think about it, it’s kind of weird… aren’t they both equally qualified?

The effects aren't bad because of the low time. It's because the director is known of doing great things with low budget.

There was no special effects or CGI in Spy Kids. The 3 movies were declassified from Roswell. They were legit missions.
