      Hi, thank you so much for listening and for sharing your thoughts and the kind words. It took me years to upload my music on TH-cam because I always felt I need the audience as part of the performance in the moment where the music takes place. Comments like yours remind me that the magic of music goes beyond time and space! 🥰 And yes, Sandy is amazing and her songs need to be played and heard!

    Nothing More..such an introspective song.... sad..." My tune it does not change, he said,And neither does your song,
    And words I use them rarely When I'm all alone" a song about Richard Thompson? I always remembering playing this song on my midnight radio show when I accidentally shut the power to the whole radio station during this song and then continuing once power back on..

    This is superb! It's great to discover a young person like you reviving the songs of Sandy Denny. Many artists have covered "Who Knows Where the Time Goes" but up to now the only artist who has had a real Sandy Denny project that I know of is the superb Linde Nijland. I was fortunate enough to see Sandy Denny live and have never stopped listening to Fairport albums with her on vocals plus Fotheringay and her solo albums. As I 've said, I'm delighted to have discovered your two posts and will check regularly to see if there' s a new one. Finally I'd like to add that the guy accompanying you has done a great job, too. Vielen Dank. Wunderbar!!

      Thank you so much for your words! I could never understand why Carol King and Kate Bush are better known then Sandy. Her songwriting and vocal skills are amazing, shes an outstanding artist. Ive been listening to her from the moment I got my first record "Sandy" when I was 16 and last year I totally rediscovered her music. Im going to publish a blogarticle on salutlive on the whole story. It was crazy and funny at the same time, and it was not planned to do a Sandy project at all... it just happend and I found myself singing "sad refrains" all day long, something I had never done my entire life ;) And then I realised, that Im already in the middle of working on a Sandy set. It would pay any price to see her live...Lucky you!

      @@songsofsandydenny You're most welcome! Interesting to hear the story of your project and will certainly read your blog. Unfortunately those who are the most talented are necessarily the most successful. Do you know Trees, a brilliant short-lived folk rock band (1969-1972)?The singer, Celia Humphris, had a lovely voice. Then in Germany there was Ougenweide and their fine singer Minne Graw. Going back to Sandy, though, I can well imagine you would give anything to have seen her live. It was an unforgettable experience, just the small figure of Sandy onstage and her voice and guitar which sent shivers down my spine.

    • @songsofsandydenny
      @songsofsandydenny  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@timothysebastiannewey7013 I found an Ougenweide LP on a fleamarket a long time ago. Unfortubanetly nothing really developped from their style in germany. But singing Mittelhochdeutsch must be fun! No I had no idea of the Trees. Her voice is lovely, indeed! Do you know the Facedancers? Thats early progressive folk, and yes the genre does exist. :D Amazing band! Thanks for sharing your experience of the concert with Sandy! At least I can meet people on the internet who were lucky enough to be born at the right time...Every little story is a piece of her life!

    • @timothysebastiannewey7013
      @timothysebastiannewey7013 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@songsofsandydenny Pity Ougenweide didn't have much influence. Trees were brilliant(also saw them live) and there seems to be something of a revived interest in them. Had never heard of The Facedancers - thanks, I have checked them out and the little I have listened to sounds great. If you want to listen to a couple of really beautiful sad moving songs try "These Times We're Living In" by Kate Wolf and "Funeral" by Phoebe Bridgers. Kate Wolf died years ago unfortunately but Phoebe Bridgers is an excellent contemporary singer songwriter who is becoming very popular. And a book recommendation "Beeswing" by Richard Thompson. He was as I'm sure you know a founder member of Fairport Convention and the book covers the years 1967-1975.

      @@songsofsandydenny you're certainly welcone. Have you seen the live version? It's on TH-cam. Really amazing. One thing I note different from your cover is that she lets the piano drive the song. It's a subtle difference and maybe just my perception but her piano produces drama through leading the song. I also wanted to share with you one of my favorite songs. It is the Demo version of She Moved Through the Fair by the electric folk band The Trees. It's on TH-cam. The version is based on an earlier version of the song by Sandy Denny and is absolutely haunting and ethereal. It's the Demo version not the regular version by The Trees. Hi Ivan, this song was written for Richard Thompson, who was the guitarist for Fairport Convention, shortly after his girlfriend at the time was killed in a car accident with another member of the band as they we’re returning home from a gig. The song Late November is also about that accident.
      It just adds so much more depth to the songs knowing what the inspiration was to write them.
