This video is bringing back memories of me playing Dread Mode. I nearly went insane. The hardest boss for me was Kraid. I died to him so many times I lost count. Still congratulations on beating Dread mode with your insanity intact and your spirit high.
Dude same, Kraid was really freaking hard like it took me over a day of constant attempts to beat Kraid on Dread mode, like I knew how to doge everything but I just kept messing things up. I eventually did get that one special run where I was in the zone and nothing was touching me and I was able to beat Kraid, it was so satisfy to finally kill him. Raven Beak was also hard but idk I think at that point my skilled progressed to such a degree that it didn't take me nearly as long to get in the zone, the only trouble I face was the with space jump, you have to rhythmically press it for Samus to use it and you can't use it for a standing jump, my jumps not being registered because I tapped the button too early or jumped from a standing position was the main killer of almost every single attempt, but eventually I got pasted it. For me the boss were you get the storm missiles and cross bombs were the most annoying pains in the ass, especially the cross bomb boss because it wouldn't fucking die, like I ran out of missiles while fight it, as late in the game where you fight it by that point you'd have a large supply of missiles to the point you can spam the storm missiles and never run out but that boss was different, it wasn't hard it just took forever to kill.
As someone who recently played it through, yeah Kraid's second phase is kinda painful honestly, I forget how often I take hits there when playing normally. I was dreading (heh) Raven Beak for the laser attack that always gets me in phase 2 but honestly it wasn’t that bad once I figured out the telegraph of him hovering directly above you when he's about to use it
Wait a goddamn second... *You can SAVE during Dread Mode?!* What, do you just respawn back at your last save room whenever you die? If so, then I may just have to play Dread Mode after all.
This was hilarious! Escue is one of the most annoying bosses...also the Crimson Moon on Raven Beak was a nice touch hahaha great work! Hope to see more like it
I'm not gonna lie-- I also collected as many Energy Tanks as I could find during my Dread Mode Run. I also died WAY too many times to the Blue E.M.M.I.! My total death count ended up being 217!

Dread Mode really flipped the script on this entire game. I was less stressed about the EMMIs because running into them didn't mean instant death like every other enemy (at least you had TWO CHANCES to parry), the bosses were almost a relief because they had more predictable patterns, and the NORMAL FREAKING ENEMIES became the hardest part. Funny enough, Raven Beak was the easiest boss for me because of how many times I'd died to him before in the other modes. Just traversing the world became the most stressful portion of the game...especially those bug things that just fell from the ceiling. Fuck those things especially.

I beat Dread today, died 409 times. Fun fact: Beam does less damage to Raven Beak for each stage of the fight while missiles do normal damage all the time, so storm missile is the main weapom in the fight. Fun fact 2: Cross bombs do 2 missiles of damage to Raven Beak.

Near the end that's fairly similar, because one hit from most things will take you out. *sigh* I'm probably gonna bash my head against the Dread Mode 100% and Dread Mode 0% run, aren't I?

Honestly, hard mode is not well designed at all. All it does is change how much damage you take and nothing else. It doesn't really change how you play the game. Rookie mode is even worse cause it does the same thing as hard mode. It doesn't fix the fundamental issue of what makes this game difficult. Especially in exploration. The enemy patterns don't change, parry windows aren't harder or easier. Seriously, this game needed more accessibility options and options in general. This is by far the worst in options for Nintendo games

I literally looked up speedrun strats to help me with Raven Beak. turns out you can skip most of phase one with some very specific amounts of damage

And, like it says, the spin attack is *really* good against electrified enemies
