Privacy & Security should be paramount. It amazes me how TH-camrs who lean towards Alexa and Google are so cavalier about how these two products process our private data in the cloud. Completely local is worth the extra cost. The Alexa and Google business models both profit through data mining our data.
I believe privacy and security should be. I run all my devices through Home Assistant before being sent back to Alexa. What I really like about Home Assistant is there is an option to run Local Tuya, so instead of my devices bouncing off the cloud. They are only hitting my Home Assistant hub instead my home network. I still think there is a long way to go to help enhance privacy and security.
