Romanian population in Transylvania at that time was actually more than 50 something %. The official statistics of the Austro-Hungarian Empire dwarfed the percentage on purpose in order to make their presence there more justified. A French sociologist named Robert Ficheux, that traveled through Translyvania (officialy sent there) just after the war to give a report to the great powers gathered in Paris stated that Romanians were about 70% actually.

It's a shame that C&Rsenal and other gun channels have been completely demonetized, but C&R especially because it's an educational channel. Yes guns are their subject, but it's produced to be edu-rational
Why are gun channels demonetized ?
Alternative Futures Google has decided that gun related channels are "offensive" content and so cannot be monetized.
Where is your source on that? I didn't read anything like that on C&Rsenal social profiles.

I wonder why Spain don't have a strong weapon industry nowadays since the huge opportunity they had in WW1. They developed weapons for alot of countries, even major powers during the WW1
They did. Companies like STAR and Astra and Llama and CETME did huge business post-WWII on up into the 80's.. then they went bankrupt when they couldn't keep-up on the military market and nations like the US adopting weapons bans based on aesthetics basically shutting down the civilian market.
Giorgio Fabietti The Spanish arms industry was (literally) a cottage business. Unlike, for example, Beretta (Italy) Remington (US) or Mauser (Everywhere else in Europe), they didn't have a full manufacturer. A receiver could be made by one group, magazine by another, barrel by a third, and so on. Final fit and finish was left up to whoever had the final sale contract.
I've had two civilian Llama pistols. Each came with a magazine, but any extras I bought needed to be slightly reworked by me to get them to work properly.

If I remember correctly Constantin Argetoianu wrote in his memoirs that in August 1916 Romania had ~ 250000 modern rifles and less than 100000 rifles from the 1870s, and after the disaster of Turtucaia was left with about 250000 working rifles.
About Romania attacking its arms supplier: I think at that moment they were not thinking they are attacking but more about countering an imminent attack. In late 1915 and early 1916 Austria had several attempts to flank the Russians by crossing Romanian territory in the North and had to be opposed by the Romanian army ( they "arrested" the offending Austrian regiments and sent them back across the border under armed guard), Austrian aviation units overflew Romania to attack Russian vessels on the Danube and in the spring of 1916 German troops were being sent to Transylvania (the Catholic Archbishop from Bucharest, a Swiss national but born in Germany, wrote in his memoirs about how during the occupation of Bucharest Makensen told him how lucky the Central Powers were they had just send troops for R&R to Transylvania right before Romania attacked).
My oppinion is the Romanian government found out about the movement of troops, was already spooked by the previous actions, knew very well what happened in other "neutral" countries such as Belgium, so in the summer of 1916 they stopped stalling and demanding Bessarabia from the Russians or Bukovina from the Austrians, signed the treaty with the Antante, got a loan in London and bought French weapons which should have arrived in September. The weapons, including heavy artilery, arrived in December and January after the South of Romania was lost and after Romanian diplomats actually went to Russia to search for them and found the trains parked somewhere in the Caucasus.

In order to understand the situation better and comprehend why the romanians were in so much desperation:in the summer of 1917 Romania was at war with Germany,Austro-Hungary,Bulgaria and The Ottoman Empire,while trying in the same time to face the dezagregation of its former ally,The Tzarist Russia whose soldiers were on rampage in Basarabia due to the fast pace spreading comunism!The fact that Romania signed an armistice only late in the spring of 1918 and later on a peace treaty that wad never ratified by the parliament or signed by the king was nothing less than a miracle!

How about a demonstration of long range shooting with iron sights? We hear often about the optimistic ranges on sights but could a bullet injure or kill at those ranges? How many shots would be needed to hit a man-sized target at 2000 meters? It might also be nice to see a demonstration of indirect fire. Love the channel!
Hello, mr Indy. Do you find it hard sometimes to talk about what happened during the war, because there was some horrific stuff that occurred to many of those poor boys. Also a emotional/spiritual question, when you think of the casualties say in a battle or a raid do you think of just 10,000 dead, or 10,000 people that were each different than the other

Alexander Dimitrov Main Rifle: Austrian M95 Mannlicher straight pull. Main Pistol: German .30cal Commercial Luger M1902. So theres no need to cover them. Besides their backup rifle was the Martini (which they'll cover with Turkey) and backup pistol was the S&W no.3 revolver (which they'll cover with Russia).

I am a Romanian and I got tired of this question... but I understand.
After a long period of negative image (most of it coming from ignorance and confusion w/ another people that have different genetics and culture), we are recovering from constantly being put down and we are searching for every positive thing about us as a purification of our dignity and a recovery of the same respect that everybody civilized gets.
The Great War You most likely know the basic information so let us get right in with the details. First detail is that Mackensen was super optimistic about the planned offensive, telling the representant of the imperial chancellor that "The occupation of Romania is imminent" and telling his subordonates after a meeting "See you in two weeks, in Iași!" The second detail is that in the second day of the battle (7th of august, new calendar) There was immense heat, around 36 degrees celsius (in the shade!!) and so the germans had to order attacks only in the morning and almost in the night. The third detail is that in the first day of the battle, the 34th russian division retreated chaotically and so, the 5th romanian division was sent in to plug the gap. But they had to make their way to the front though lots of running russians but, despite the chaotic conditions that they entered the battle in, they managed to stop the germans in their tracks. On the night between the 11th and the 12th of August General Christescu was informed that he was to be replaced from the command of the First Army with General Eremia Grigorescu.
The Fourth detail was that The Bavarian alpine division was bombarded so hard that one of its soldiers wrote: "Not even at Verdun have i seen such a terrifiying artillery barrage". The fifth and last detail is about a battalion from the 51st regiment that lost all of its officers, one of those, Grigore Ignat, when he saw that all of his machinegunners were killed, he went in and started wielding a machinegun himself. The next day the sanitaries found his body, still clutching the machinegun, under two rows of corpses. So there is your information and i hope that you will continue doing episodes about the forgotten parts of The War!

What was the logistic of supply of spanish guns to Romania? How did they get there with central powers on a way? Via Russia (Murmansk) or in some other way? And for the rest of the countries.
How estern and western fronts were connected logistically? (for russians to get to France and belgian/french armored cars to Russia)
I suppose neither Black nor Baltic seas would be viable. So it's either via north of Russia (Murmansk, Archangelsk) and then by train down south or all the way round the world to Vladivastok and than again by train through Russia. Very cumbersome anyway. So need some research from Indy and the crew on the matter
Sergey Kosnikov Spain was a neutral power within the war especially after the loss to the US in 1898, I would think they where safe to ship because of this, additionally I believe that the Mediterranean was controlled by the Entente navies and that its was relatively safe for shipping with few submarines.
Hi, Sergey. After the start of the war for Romania (in 1916), all war materiale needed (Romanian did not have sufficient industrial production capabilyties) were sent especilly from France through the russian port of Archangelsk and then by train to Romania. You can easilly imagine how hard it was. Beside that, the romanian railway sistem was and is narrower then the russian one. Most of the ships used were romanians, but some of them were sunk and then french and british ones were used because romanian ships could not get out of the Black Sea (the turks holding the Straits).
At the begining of the romanian campaign in 1916 the Russian High Command ask the romanians to abandon the southern part of their country in order to align the front line with the russian one. Of course, the romanians did not agree, so the russian army did not helped the romanians until the germans reach the line that the russians wanted from the beginning in southern Moldavia. This was easy to do because the weapons and ammonitions came throu russian teritory. In the winter of 1916/1917 a commission was formed by romanian, russians and french from the Frensh Millitay Mission in Romanian to find the trains with war materials. A lot of them were found in Caucasus, "lost" in russian railway system. Later, after the Bolshevik Revolution and the Peace of Brest Litovsk, Romania could not get weapons in any way, so she was forced to make peace with the Central Powers too (the Peace of Bucharest - Treaty of Bucharest) in early 1918.
The last part of your question: the two fronts were connected only throu Archangelsk for materials (the French Millitary Mission in Romania retreat to France in that way too) and for small groups of persons throu neutral Sweden. When USA entered the war, a new route through Siberia was possible, but soon after that Russia get out of the war. When civil war begun there, the Tchecoslovakian Legion went that way. Units of romanains POW from former austro-hungarian army went that way too, then to USA and then to Romania.

Then agin I just heard that online so maybe the martini Henry rifle didn’t get used by the front line infantry because agin I just I heard that online but it doesn’t seem out of the question because Romani did use the martini Henry rifle in second line infantry so based on the fact Romani started ordering random rifles for infantry so it dose seem possible that some martini Henry rifles were used by the front line infantry

but if you are waging war against your arms dealer, you can just take and use his stuff, can you not?
You can do so even if you use different weapons, of course, but it will be much easier logistics-wise if your guns and catridges are the same, no?

If i was a soldier in the great war, i'd definitely prefer a carbine to a normal long rifle. I mean why not? More compact, and its still a rifle you can shoot with. What more could you want?

Im sure you could still make do with a carbine, most soldiers during the war were no more than 100 meters from each other, a carbine can reach that distance easy.
I'd guess with the mud and stress they put the guns under and the relatively primaries technology and expensive cost of carbines they weren't worth it especially when you consider that soldiers would often die and lose their gun along with their body so why spend the money when you are going to lose your gun especially in mass assault doctrine
Yep, thats why after the war most Countries adopted carbine rifles. Guess during the war you gotta use what you got. Im sure that the people back in the day knew that too, but i guess many factors prevented the widespread use of carbine rifles.
I dont understand how a carbine would be more expensive to make then a normal rifle. A carbine is essentially a shortened version of the original gun, so wouldnt you actually save money because you are making a gun that doesnt require as much wood for the stock, not alot of steel for the bolts and screws, and is most likely quicker to make than the longer version?
What are the guns used by U.S.A. and Mexico ?
Abdou Zeraia Mexico wasn't involved in the war, and the U.S.A we're using Enfield M1917 and Springfield M1903 rifles, French Chauchat and B.A.R. machine guns, M1911 pistols and M1917 revolvers
Abdou Zeraia Mexico primarily used mauser derivatives. I'm not sure if what their hand guns were.
M1897 Trench shotguns, Remington Model 10s, Browning A5's, Autoloading 8.35's and 8.25, No.3 Revolvers, Maxim machineguns, Lewis guns, and probably numerous other pump shotguns models
dankspaghettilord The US did not use Autoloading rifles or No. 3 revolvers. And idk if they used the maxim. Lewis guns were not used by the army but were used by marines I believe.
Chris Hall the US used briefly the 1918 BAR (Browning Automatic Rifle). It was developed specifically because few nations had at the time the ability to take fully automatic rifle fire with them into the opposing trenches. That role was almost solely limited to MP (machine pistols).

How important were German Pacific Colonies?
They were a important part for raw materials and revenue from the natives. Plus the native troops for Germany manpower needs. Losing them made it even harder for them to keep their wartime industries going with ever increasing demands to replace lost and damaged equipment such as field guns and such as small items like cartridges made from brass. It started to hit Germany really hard when the U.S. declared war against Germany. They before were able to get raw materials and trade some finished products to U.S. before they declared War against Germany . I know thus us two years later to answer. It depends on Othais getting them in one place and finding WW1 era original condition Russian guns is difficult.
