This is the best Blofeld demo I have heard. Don't you love TH-cam? This guy gets 1.6k subs and a guy that opens boxes gets 2 million!!!
State of society. Educated and artistic don't get the attention they perhaps deserve. Loud and flashy get tons of attention they don't deserve at all.
TH-cam is a consumption platform first and an artists platform... somewhere further down the list.
10 Months later and you still nailed it... been trying to get a sense of what this synth can do and every video I've watched up until now just talked mostly through it or played entirely pad sounds / generic ideas .... this video is convincing me to get one i've had my eye on via Craigslist

I'm currently visiting my mother and the only gear that was small enough to travel with was the Blofeld desktop and a Strymon Big Sky+Timeline.
I have a whole "Studio" full of synths, but the Blofeld is still one of those who can surprise me every time.
The combination of FM, Sync, Wavetables, Comb filters, sample import...its a univers of posseblities!
I wish Waldorf would make a MK2 version with more outputs and a few better sounding effects.
Put this on in work and listened to the whole thing in one sitting. Great demo.

Oh I've been toying with this for months now and have almost pulled the trigger a couple of times, but this video has done more to persuade me than any other I've seen so far, a brilliant demonstration.
The Analog Voltage soundset for the Blofeld is what sold me. Ridiculously great sounding.

@@activistarts7722 Ha, I didn't in the end, no and it dropped off the list really. I still wouldn't rule it out but I think it was just the menus that put me off, it's a bit clinical for my tastes so although I'd still like one for the sounds it would have to be pretty cheap. They're quite well priced I think, but just a bit pricey to indulge a whim on for me :)
@@tarqu1no39 Yeah I feel like 500+ for 13 year old hardware that is not easily accessible that we should be able to get a deal but for what it does I suppose its a steal compared to all the severely overpriced boutique models from Roland. I heard that you should not buy the Waldorf used because they don't last long. Have you heard this ?
@@activistarts7722 Can't say I've heard that tbh, but I agree on the Roland stuff. I've steered more into analogue tbh and for digital just use software synths. There's a definite interactive loss using software but then the menu diving on the Blofeld isn't that far removed from that process in a way. I'm at the sort of 'sell all my gear for one big splurchase' stage, but it's just finding the right synth and then getting round to putting the feckin adverts up!
I was trying to check out what the Blofeld sounds like. I put this on, got pulled into other things, and forgot that it was playing. The music put me in a trance. What a fascinating soundscape!
Wonderful music. Reminds me of a cross between Tangerine Dream and JMJ. I'd be happy to buy music like this for listening to in the dark and letting it just wash over me.

@holotape Thank you for your message and your interest! The taxation issue is quite complicated for digital products. The european launch will be on Jan. 1st 2020 (UK until Brexit). But the launch for USA, Canada, Australia etc. will be later. From an economical point of view, this is no big difference because the basic price is always the same (i.e. 21,01 Euro) and only the VAT makes a difference (the VAT for Germany is 19%). But no one should be forced to use fake data ;)

Tangerine dream's music (in fact the group hugely used Ppg wave and Waldorf took the legacy of that iconic synth). Very good 😍

Nice video, Great Demo I love Blofeld I love Waldorf :) very educational, it looks like a modular pocket for the things it can do is crazy and what's more at an unbeatable price, I have some very expensive hardware synths of very famous brands but the Blofeld desktop is the one I use most because it occupies the space of a tile but very powerful it is there ready to be used on the table since I bought it and it must remain, in my opinion apart from the knobs it is also robust it is perceived by the weight. You turn it on and you are ready to experiment and every time you are pleasantly surprised.
I bought it almost 3 years ago and I'm glad I did, thanks Waldorf for making it up I love this crazy tile :) Perhaps the next for me will be the Kyra!
The blofeld is probably one of the most underrated synths. It is capable of incredible pads, basses, drones,... Almost everything is possible with it

Der Blofeld ist mit Abstand einer meiner Lieblings - Synthie's. Hier kann man gut hören, warum. Ganz feine Demo. Waldorf ist sowieso Klasse. Und zwar Erste...

I'm just blown away by the all the sounds this little guy can make.
Recently dove back into my Blofeld after getting the problematic encoders fixed, and I have to echo much of what has already been posted. This synth as a whole is really good. For the price, it's amazing! Super programmable and very acceptable for covering virtual analog duties as well as classic wavetable stuff. Maybe not a great starter synth for folks new to programming their own synths, but for the patient and tenacious, it will provide plenty of insightful exploration/learning and plenty of sonic sonic goodness!

Another great Blofeld video. Thank you for providing some true inspiration as to the sounds that can be conjured from this synth with the right approach. How about an instruction video on the Arpeggiator? I'm sure I'm not the only one out there who knows there is much more than I'm currently achieving - as you have tantalizingly shown in this post!

Thank you! No external effects, no post-processing. Only pure Blofeld.
There are like 10 different software editors but I don't know them enough to recommend one.

Thanks! I think there is no real "new Blofeld" or successor. For that price and feature list, there is still nothing comparable. Maybe that's why they're still selling it. From a Waldorf point of view, the Iridium would have a similar concept (a lot of features in a small package) but the price is way higher...
Great little synth but now that the Hydrasynth has come into existence, would be hard pressed to choose the blofeld over a used desktop Hydra.

Hello. Lovely sounds! Can you tell me of the Blofeld has the same ability to play through all the wavetable waves with one key press like the PPG did?
Yes, but the sound is softer than a PPG.

I have a Waldorf Wave from the mid 90s and it seems the same Wavetables are in the Blofeld.
Excellent patches! Maybe put them for pay-what-you-want with a minimum fee of, say, 5€ or something? Just so that you get at least a beer per download :)

I just don't get it, everyone say Largo and this are pretty much identical but I am yet to hear one interesting patch on the largo that sticks out this well as your demo here, very sweet and analog here and there yet tight sharp digital at other times, brilliant synth! A certain crispyness and in your face I don't hear at all in the Largo from the patches I listened to, I wanted it to be great because so much smoother to use vsti but I can't justify it now with the demos I heard of both. You have had any chance to compare yourself? Would be fun to hear you do this exact same patches and playing you did here on the Largo also.

Thanks! I tried the Largo in demo mode a few years ago and I remember it to be a quite good sounding softsynth. Waldorf simply has its algorithms. So if you are a software guy then take the Largo (or the Nave or the PPG Infinite Pro). I think you can recreate most of these sounds with the Largo.
Largo doesn't have the PPG filter mode or user wavetables or sample playback, but it has some additional mod sources that Blofeld doesn't have, oh and also effects on Largo are much better overall. It sounds great too, but it's not just a "Blofeld in a plugin". It's definitely inspired by it, but it is its own thing.

Thanks. Internal LFO sync is possible, external clock does not work.
That’s a bit of a deal breaker then, if I wanted to sequence it from my hardware and have rhythmic LFOs there is no way to have them in time. Seems like a massive oversight!
It's a bug which couldn't be fixed ;)
@@SynthesizerVideo It can certainly be fixed but Waldorf can't be arsed about it...
Even internal tempo sync of the LFO is fucked up, the LFO phase doesn't get properly updated and you get a fucked up quantized waveform because of it.

No, the sounds do not use the licence SL. They work on every Blofeld directly.

Hey, i acutally did not decide yet what to do. Whether to sell them (which means that I have to improve them first), to give them away (but it was a lot of work to create them) or to keep them (which would be the easiest way for me) ;)
