Archeology is one of the most dangerous professions in the 40K universe.
Archaeologists should have meltabombs at all times in such cases as a tomb world
you either dig up stasis tombs, slumbering Nids, warp gates, xenos artifacts, tempting chaos goodies or the worst of all you might find: Facts being in conflict with the Imperium's offical history and teaching....
Even to Indiana Jones.
You never want to find a necron tomb word.
The most dangerous is AI writing.
Mr. Anonymous ORRRRR you find a STC that makes forks and retire to your new planetary governor's palace .
Two years into a grueling siege against an Ork WAAAGH!, a platoon of Guardsman are stuck behind enemy lines, cut off from supplies and with smoke choking out the sunlight. As their power packs begin to fail and morale is running low, the quick thinking commander calls an emergency meeting.
"Boys," he starts, face grim with righteous fury "this may be the end, but I still have one trick up my sleeve. You see, the Orks aren't that smart, so I want you to send your squad up the ridge with your empty lasguns and start shouting PEW PEW as loud as you can."
The sergeant nods and heads off, returning at nightfall with a grin on his face.
"The louder we shouted PEW PEW the more Orks fell over dead!"
The next day, the whole platoon was standing on the front line screaming "PEW PEW BANG" and mimicking grenades and missiles as Orks died by the handful. There was much rejoicing at this and the slaughter continued on for the rest of the week.
Until one day as the platoon was PEW PEWing the horde, a group of greenskins started marching down the hill in formation. No matter how loud the guardsman PEW PEW'd the Orks wouldn't budge an inch and continued to advanced until they got close enough to bludgeon the platoon to death.
The last thing the commander heard before his death was the horde of greenskins chanting "We'z a tank, we'z a tank, we'z a tank!"
Lol

Necrons: You kids stay outta mah lawn! (Grumbling)
Dammit! You beat me to it! Oh well, I guess I'll just add onto it,
"That's it, I'm gettin' me Monolith! I'll have you disrespectful young-ass shits know that I am a grizzled veteran of the War in Heaven, which was a war far greater than your petty conflicts with those edgelord Chaos worshippers! Stay outta my tomb-word, ya hear?!"
JakeSpacePirate E You know it’s bad when the NECRONS call them edge lords of all people.
@@Tacoguy1000 there is nothing more edgier in the 40k universe than the necrons
@Isaias Ruiz The Drukhari.
@@genghiskhan6809 They're more akin to tryhard emos than actual edgelords. They're trying too hard and it shows.
Given how dickishly petty the Necron nobility is, I wouldn't be surprised if the purpose behind the Cadian Pylons was to give the ancient eldar splitting headaches.
The C’tan designed the Pylons to close off the warp from the material realm and they almost succeeded... but then the Deceiver and the Silent King happened.
@Jonathan Stiles I think it is too
@Jonathan Stiles RUINS THE SKY! HOW IS ONE GONNA STARGAZE WITH A BIG FREAKING WARP-HOLE IN THE SKY!!
The C'tan where the unbeatable absolute masters of reality and the warp changed that, because it's interfering with the materium, so they tried to cut it off. In the end, they where killed in the warp, in wich they're not capable of using their op godpowers
Some fun facts for people not as versed in Necrons (though I am no lore pro)
One of the Necron Dynasties, the Oruscar, have something called the Celestial Orrery. It is a real time representation of the entire galaxy, and if you choose and 'snuff out' a star within the orrery, the one in the real world will just go supernova. WHICH IS FUCKING WILD. The Oruscar are aware of how dangerous this can be in terms of a domino effect, so they both choose VEEEEEERY carefully when they do things like that, and they also are ULTRA defensive about anyone who is not them using it.
Also, their Gauss weaponry, this video mentions them briefly, but its godamn TERRIFYING. They are also known as "Gauss Flayers" not because they strip flesh and metal, they strip ATOMS AND MOLECULES FROM THEIR TARGETS. A single gauss flayer, given enough shots, could literally take down an Imperium Land Raider by itself.
The Necrons also have crazy advanced technology. Their tech is so advanced that its basically magic ("Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic", as we all know). They can control the weather, time, and reality. They have assassins called "Death Marks" which stalk their targets until the right moment, just appearing out of nowhere. They aren't invisible though, they stalk their targets from a pocket dimension. So once they kill their target they just pop back into the other dimension and waltz on home.
Also, their Phaerons and Overlords have some of the wackiest personalities. One of them is basically a kleptomaniac, and another is like a grizzled cantankerous general who's programming fault has made him think every enemy he fights in the current day is Eldar. He's got a personal bodyguard who is constantly trying to keep him safe from the VERY MUCH NOT ELDAR enemies that he gets in a fight with because the dude literally doesn't know its not an Eldar.
Zrin that fun thanks for the information. I hope you and everyone here have a nice day. :)
Yeah Necrons have some crazy tech, like the ability to break down 3d space as a defensive weapon, so the attackers nolonger understand what is happening
I'm pretty sure he sees ever one was necron reballs from the days before the war in heaven, when the necrons where still in civil war, not eldar. i could be wrong though
How in the hell your comment is older than the video.
@@demiurge9212 that's a good question
While some miss the old Necrons, Im so glad they re-jiggered them into having personalities and goals aside from "Beep boop kill everything". I think it's awesome that the Necrons come to a planet they could 1) Wipe it out 2) Tell the inhabitants to buzz off 3) Ignore them entirely or 4) Offer them a place in their dynasty.
Plus, I think the Necrons are the key to stopping the Tyranids and Chaos. I don't care how adaptable the Nids are. you don't adapt to molecular deconstruction or reality warping crazy.
if i were given a choice, i would choose to be turned into a necron. an immortal body made out of organic metal is too good for me to pass.
@@ramazantekin4144 it would cost ur soul tho
@@blitzm4nn511 a fair price
@@ramazantekin4144 u right
Giving the Necron armies some actual personality was a great move. My only beef with the update was the complete removal of the C'Tan. The old lore had them as this looming galactic threat that was eventually coming for its due. I loved that. I miss the Deceiver sneaking around taking to people and causing fuckery.
Necrons already knew the orks though before their stasis. Orks were created by the old ones the to fight the necrons. They also went into stasis not only because of the orks and eldar but also because chaos was on the rise.
3:15 Laughed at Azir from league photoshoped in there for no reason.
Yea xD
Same honestly, karthus or thresh would have been better
My favorite species. I liked that one ending in dawn of war were they killed everything living on a planet, even microorganisms. *Now that is thorough.*
Should been The Novoc Dynasty. All Of they're planets where waken up and then instantaneous go into a murdersession
The Necrons are easily my favorite xeno faction in 40k. They’re so compelling and unique as an entity, but I also love how much of a universal constant/force of nature they are made out to be. They’re like gravity, or the passage of time itself. “All things may come to pass. Civilizations may rise and fall, the stars themselves burn out and fade. But there will always be Necrons.”
In a nutshell: Skynet meets Windows 98
*Screams in dial-up*

RRREEEEE
98ish anything would explain why the others are taking so long to wake up. It's probably dial up. Being 60,000,000 yrs. Old. Explains the lag also. Updating like a mudder trucker. You know he's probably called Tech support, like 10×. "Yes, I have turned them off and on again. Yes, I'll hold." Poor bastard.
Thanks for the pre video spoiler. Jerk.
When necrons sleep

When necrons awake
Necrons: *Ain't this shit here last time*

Necrons waking up: well that was a fucking lie
I read it in an Australian accent
Ironically I think the Silent King could be the one to actually put it into the heads of the more conversing races that the, and I quote, "'nids gotta go".
There could’ve been a Necron-Imperial definitive alliance, if Sanguinius had not fallen, because the Silent King highly respected Sanguinius
@@firepowerx-venezuelangame3890 Or partition up the threats:
Necron warfleets - the galaxy-scale mass of Tyranids approaching
Necron armed civilian fleets - the Tyranid fleets within the galaxy, and scanning for Genestealer infestations
Eldar - shut down the Dark Eldar
Imperial - Chaos
Whoever gets there first - Orks
Correction, One of the Catan (however you spell that) was destroyed. He was the Flayed One, as he was destroyed they cursed the necrons, resulting in the flayer virus, which turns necrons into Flayers
Llandu'gor the Flayer was the name of this C'tan.
It's C'tan, but you are allowed to say by Nerd-council to refer to them as Stargods
Also, at the late stage of the War in Heavens, the C'Tan had been eating each other after being encouraged by Cegorach.
Now I want to play Settlers of C'Tan
13:05 - Some picture context: These are The Astral Knights Chapter (the crossed swords heraldry). This Space Marine Chapter was destroyed in battle with the Necron World Engine. The Astral Knights sacrificed their chapter to destroy this Necron weapon, which was a planet-sized spaceship, armed with gauss projectors capable of scouring planets of all life. The Astral Knights made their way to the deepest part of the World Engine that housed many command nodes. In a final act of heroism, Artor Amhrad (Chapter Master of the Astral Knights) detonated melta-charges that brought down the World Engine's shields and silenced most of its weaponry. The Astral Knights were gone. But their sacrifice was not in vain. Seeing the foe defenceless, the Imperial fleet destroyed the World Engine with volley after volley of cyclonic torpedoes.

Imagine ascended necron
Ah, a fellow history enthusiast! Such a rarity...I have just the place for you in my gallery's!
Now hold still for the Stasis Grenade.
Necrons March to the song “These boots are made for walking”
I get knocked down
There's also that bit about the Silent King severing the protocols that kept the Necrons in thrall to him, right before they went into stasis. Another gesture of atonement for failing his people. Which further explains why, even when the Silent King is still around, the various Necron dynasties are fragmented.
I could have sworn that I had read somewhere that the reason the sun in their home system was...well, like it was, was because there was actually a C'tan eating it, but now I can't find it.
Also somewhat surprised that you didn't mention that the Old Ones, when they started losing, made and/or uplifted other races in order to help fight the Necrons. Namely, the Aeldari (aka Eldar; essentially uplifted) and the Krork (ancestors of the Orks; made)
it was, they found several c'tan eating their star
@Jonathan Stiles ...you expect a universe with fungal-based Orks, robot zombies, demons, space elves, and psychic powers to restrict itself to following the rules of astrophysics?
@Jonathan Stiles
A ancient star vampire that can make stars go supernova, create black holes, control time, and reality doesn't make much sense either
I think a TH-camr called Oculus Imperia put it best "We're not certain if the C'tan are responsible for the Necrontyr's Star, but it definitely makes for a more poetic story.
I mean, it makes sense that at least one C'tan had to be somewhere near the Necrontyr's home, in order for them to have discovered it. Then, having learned that an energy vampire space ameba was wrapped around their sun and slowly siphoning its energy off, they would be like "we should find ANOTHER one and experiment on THAT, so that if it goes well we can get the one out of our sun, and if it goes badly we don't accidentally blow up our own sun."
Easily my favorite faction in Warhammer 40k, truly the most powerful race.
I'll be honest here, it's genuinely amazing how the Necrons probably have the most colorful and amazing cast of characters related to them, despite them technically being 99% mindless automatons.
I mean, there's the Silent King, cool dood...
But then we get into the more eccentric guys.
There's everyone's favorite AND objectively best character in the entire universe, Trazyn The Infinite. Kleptomaniac, collector, historian and smug bastard, all in one. Has an entire goddamn museum world that's filled to the brim with Omnissiah knows what sort of relics and treasures... or exhibits. And by exhibits I mean entire Astra Militarum regiments, Adeptus Astartes companies, Harlequin troupes and ork warbands, heck, even an entire live Adeptus Custode, alive and in permanent stasis. Dude even had an entire hive fleet at one point.
There's also Nemesor Zahndrekh, who for some god knows what reason still thinks him and all of his subjects are still flesh and blood Necrontyr, and likes to throw dinner parties a lot... despite nobody at those parties eating anything. He also has a really badass bodyguard known as Vargard Obyron, who is actually aware of the fact they're all space robots, but chooses to just let his lord do whatever.
This is to just name a few.
And this isn't even delving into the flayer virus as well...
Is Nemesor the guy who thinks everyone he fights is a rebel Necrontyr
@@the_dropbear4392 Pretty sure that's the case.
@@supermaksas I like him
3:20 That's the coolest Necron Lord design I've seen.
Cant tell if you are joking or not. And if you aren't that Azir from league of legends.
Whoa... I've been binge-watching these videos all morning and you LITERALLY uploaded this as I finished watching the previous vid about Tyranids.
You Sir, Have gained yourself a Subscriber. *_Content Efficiency = 11/10 IGN._*
Man you do an excellent job of summarising everything for people who don't know 40k at all and even for those who are familiar with the lore as well.
I love all these betrayals going on, reminds me of playing Halo 3 online back in the day! 💎
You know, in context, the Tyranids are sort of amazing because they're the only player on the board that can force the rest of the children to play nice with each other. Also, 12:40 ish, they can also travel FTL without actually going into the warp.
I knew this race would be my favorite the moment I saw them in dawn of war. Biomechanical terminators from space with pseudo-Egyptian style culture references? Sign me the fuck up.
3:17 ah yes azir the best necron
small correction the Necrontyr had superior technology to the old ones. it was the old ones usage of the webway that allowed them to easily outmanouver the Necrontyr.
I think you can say they where pretty balanced, but webway was the Thing that led to total superior logistics with let the Necrontyr without a doubt chance. Also the C'tan boosted the Necrons Tech Knowledge
Thanks for making a series about Warhammer 40K. I've tried numerous times to get into the Lore but failed miserably. Your videos are great for newcomers like me
Kool video, man. Necrons are 1 of my fav factions in Warhammer. They are like terminators. :)
3:40 thats straight up Azir from league of legends. No joke.
Necrons are so rare. I like them. Aside from orks, I can't think of a better fit for an alliance with the Chaos honestly.
A major conflicting fact regarding the War in Heaven's success for the Necrontyr is their level of technology. I'm not sure if this changed somewhere along the line, but it was *despite* the Necrontyr's superior technology that they were losing. The Necrons have had a certain mastery of the sciences that the other races have never truly reached, if the older lore is to be believed. Even though the Old Ones' technology wasn't as sophisticated, they were still winning due to their mastery of the immaterium. Plus, add some continued Necron infighting during the war, who even then weren't able to get their shit together long enough to see their victory through.
Hm, I wonder if the original form of Tzeentch was in bed with the Old Ones, and the current Tzeentch is partly responsible for the fact that the Old Ones have never been rediscovered. I think I'm going to headcanon that the two missing Primarchs were both involved in an effort to discover this lost history, and that the reason they've disappeared is that Tzeentch corrupted one into his service, brainwashed the other into thinking he's an Old One, and has the two of them fighting each other eternally in a giant chess match within some hidden pocket of the Immaterium, just to see whether he did everything correctly and is truly the genius he thinks he is, or if he should time-travel back to his earlier form and give himself different advice to produce a more desirable outcome.
havent watch it, but i hope you mention the famous necron pokemaster Trazyn the Infinite
Something to note about C'Tan is that they seem to represent fundamental pieces of reality itself. The Necrons once completely destroyed a C'Tan and deeply wounded reality and causality in the process. No one alive knows what the universe was like before this event, but this created the Flayer Virus in the Necrons and is theorized that the universe went from somewhat apathetic to outright hostile (suggesting that the galaxy is at constant war due to the death of this C'Tan.)

Necrons: *Its fast-forward time*
The necron, the tyranid and the forces of chaos are the three big end of the universe scenarios of the Warhammer 40k universe
I can think of a worse one: the Imperium successfully destroying all xenos species and then conducting endless Inquisition purges on their own population to make them more and more "pure", until they end up as a full ethnostate controlled by a motionless skeleton that constantly eats psykers while doing nothing beneficial, and they just keep getting worse and worse from there until the stars go out.
Honestly Chaos looks a lot more pleasant than that. For that matter I wouldn't want the Orks to get their victory either; it'd be funnier than the Tyranid version, but not much better otherwise. And of course the Dark Eldar victory would be the absolute worst, though probably one of the least likely.
Necrons are just mad couse they cant beat they meats anymore.
suddenly necron azir appears. id totally buy that skin
Now I don’t know much at all about 40k lore, but it seems to me everything is building to several factions working together to fight the Tyranids.
Hah, as if ;[
Hey, Keep it up man. You make some quality content and I love hearing your take on various lore and spooky stuff.
3:35 loving the Necron Azir
Lets not forget that a C'tan was the reason why their star was acting the way it was and the Eldar and the Korks (Ork ancestors) were created by the Old Ones to fight the Necrons.
10:18 funnily enough, encounters between Tyranids and Necrons are surprisingly rare. What little data has been gathered about the hive-fleet interstellar movement, Tyranid fleets completely avoid Necron Tombworlds wherever possible.
Tyranids can't eat them, (or it's really hard) their planets are barren, the Necrons have tech they can't adapt to and I think the necrons fuck with their hive mind.

Great video! I was pleased to discover this after I saw your great SCP vids, though there were some mistakes here and there (such as the crons having the superior tech, not the old ones, and then getting outmanuevered via the webway, and that the crons enslaved the C'tan before the WIH instead of the other way around, which in addition to the soul thing is the aforementioned betrayal) your narration was great as ever. The last of your 40k vids was a while ago before the current scp vs 40k one, so I don't know if you would make any more, but it would be fun to hear your take on renowned 40k funnyman, Trazyn, or Revered 40k Funnyman Orikan...or Zahndrekh, or...

Actually, you CAN kill a C'Tan. First, the C'Tan, encouraged by Cegorach, had been eating each other, so only the strongest ones left. Then, when necrons shattered them into shards, they outright killed The Flayer, because he was too dangerous as shards. Sooo, yes. The shard thing was probably in sake of pragmatism.
