What I like best about this film sequence and song....it was sung live, no lip sync. It makes such a difference in their performance, and the natural fun of the song!
Capra was the first to NOT prerecord the singers. Brilliant! Bing and Jane did this number in ONE take!! (Frank Capra’s ‘Name above the title’ page 420)
OMG! I just love watching this. Don't tell me they weren't having a good time when they shot it cause I won't believe it. I first saw it a few years ago at a tribute to Johnny Mercer at the Samuel Goldwyn Theater. THAT was a great show. Jenny and Monica Mancini, Michael Feinstein and even Rose Marie (and I would have gone just to see her, ALONE!) were in that show. What a great night that was.
This is one very funny video from a great picture! Love youtube. It shows sooooo many wonderful things. Thanks to all those who post this timeless beauties.
It's interesting watching Bing and Jane. Jane is constantly watching to see what Bing does next. I wonder how much thatt is a part of Jane never having been in vaudville and not being feeling totally comfortable if Bing starts ad libing.
@sleedolfine15 Actually, Jane has some really wonderful dramatic movies, too. Such as: 'Miracle in the Rain' and 'All That Heaven Allows' (with Rock Hudson). I highly recommend them both. Very touching performances by Ms. Wyman.
Awesome version of a lovely song. Anyone able to point to the lyrics for this one? Most of the ones floating around seem to be the the slightly later (and also awesome) Dean Martin version - i.e. missing the third verse, and using "tenor off bass" instead of "broken down bass", amongst quite a few other differences...
Now Bing,I knew could do comedy, but imagine my surprize to find that Ronald Reagan's ex was such a cut up. I knew she could act,but this was a revelation.
As a kid, this movie inspired us to believe something romantic was possible. Why don't we dance through life more? I guess the trick is looking like more than a dishevelled bum.
Everybody's trying harder than they need to with this one, I think. Great song, great performers, let 'em just perform it. No need for all the fol-de-rol. See how it's done with Esther W. and Ricardo M. singing 'Baby, it's cold outside."
Jane Wyman? Natural, fabulous singing comedienne! I had not a clue!
That marvelous Bing Crosby, God bless him

You're right, and that's really amazing to me.
JANE WYMAN SHOULD HAVE DONE MORE MUSICALS...SHE HAD A VERY FINE SINGING VOICE...
@@jimrick6632 Agree!
@@taylormaddux8433 I can see that it was sung live, which is very impressive.
This is definitely not Jane Woman’s usual sort of movie activity, but she’s really very good in a light-hearted little musical turn with Bing.
wow Jane Wyman was amazing in this
The most adorable number from the most adorable and fun movie of all time!

This is ENTERTAINMENT 🤩

+George Tennessee Wiseman I'm jealous...wish I could have been there to see that show.
...the year I was born.... the BEST! Everything was better in the good ole' days!
Love when Bing does that plunkety plunk thing.
I love this movie bings performance was great
Jane started as a singer and sang in the Hollywood Canteen.Everybody remembers três dramatic Douglas Sirk actress but she was a comédianne to
I only knew her from Falcon Crest. This was a very different side of her and I actually like it.
Johnny Mercer's songs and lyrics were beyond reproach! Moon River, Hooray For Hollywood, Jeepers Creepers and so many more!
I lLOVE this movie! Bing, Jane and Franchot TIMELESS! I LOVE IT!
Plus Alexis Smith!
Love Jane Wyman... especially when she says in Hollywood Canteen "I've been Reaganized"
Featureman; sent me here. The "Mr. Tom Willett" himself. "You can tell them we will be there." Much love.

fantastic .... thank you .. what a joy to find this on youtube..
Thank you
This is one of my favorite movies!
'If we're still on our feet, and there's somethin' to eat, you can tell 'em we'll be there.." Such clever lyrics...
If the dinner is free, and the dinner ain't me, tell 'em we'll be there.
I didn't know Wyman could sing, not bad either!!
Great funny song. Makes one happy

Now I hear but ANOTHER VERSION of this song! I was looking for the lyricist!

Bing was the greatest❤
Credit to the genius Van Cleave who arranged and orchestrated the great song
Hahahahaha! Love it!
This song was composed by Hoagy Carmichael.
@OTRNut In which way? Rooting for her to get Wilbur? Cuz that's what I wanted. I just love Bing Crosby.
Me too!
At some point during the 70 years she wore it, someone shoulda told Jane Wyman that hairdo didn't become her
Totally agree !! Would've been very appealing to see her 'let-her-hair-down'... especially, considering her talents were so versatile
I actually really like her hair here lol
@@elizabethdouglas3417 your sarcasm is delicious!
Wow

funny song :)
in the 50's
As a kid, this movie inspired us to believe something romantic was possible. Why don't we dance through life more? I guess the trick is looking like more than a dishevelled bum.
can i get this song on itunes???
She could have been first Lady!

Was this what a successful first date was like in the 1940s???
Abed's favorite song.
It was 1951 not 1952.
The spund is very low in all the songs
