I remember when DKC 3 came out, it was largely ignored due to the N64 and original Playstation being released around the same time. Plus, I guess people were just sick of the series (in two years, we had two main games for SNES and DK Land for Gameboy) and a third game starring the sidekick of the second one must have seemed like a case of beating a dead horse. It's a shame because I feel the third game was very underrated. The creative level designs, mechanical themes, world exploring, hidden difficulty, vehicles, and hidden codes all gave the game some depth the previous games didn't have. They also brought back the aspect of the smaller character teamed with bigger character and this made the team-up move more interesting than the second game's. I also never really had a problem with Kiddy either. It was one of my favorite games for SNES.
I think the N64 and Playstation were why this was underrated in general. I got it yesterday, and so far, I don't have any problem with it.The N64 in Wrinkly's Save Cave is a nice touch, too. My logic: I don't care about the graphics or the gameplay. I like the music and the little background Easter eggs and cameos (like the N64 mentioned earlier). As for Kiddy, I just think of him as an alternate universe version of DK Jr. I burst out laughing every time I hear him scream!
It's a shame indeed because you can make the case for part 3 being the best of the bunch. The mood in the game did also felt pretty different from the first two games. Can't really put my finger on it but there was something exotic and even hostile to the whole world. Take the underwater stages, they were so gloomy! Definitely a daring progression from the more straight forward pirate theme in the second game. Damn i was so obsessed with all three games, probably my favourite 90's game trilogy!
This game was pretty damn amazing for the time it came out. It was a really long adventure. Good graphics, nice, nostalgic music. Nice gameplay mechanics, and a 2 character system. Tons of levels, bosses, side quests. Good stuff...
I wasn't a fan of some of the tracks. Rockface Rumble, the Waterfall theme, the lake side music and the Forest music really do make me smile. Plus that cave music.
David Wise didn't compose all the music tracks in DKC 3 like he did in the last two. Eveline Fischer had shared duties with David like the first DKC game. The swimming stages are my favorite because it creates a dark, creepy ambient atmosphere. Stilt Village which is the theme you hear you hear in the first stages, sound too cartooney. Tree Top Tumble is the one I like in the Forrest levels. It really goes with the theme especially in the Rip Saw Rage stage.
+Somemong BACK AT IT AGAIN WITH FUCKING DESTROYING SOMEONE FROM A FUCKING YEAR AGO POST! Seriously, you remind me of myself when I was like 10 and bumped 3 year old posts.
justin declair I know... I still remember the happy, sunny days as a kid, playing the hell out of the three DKC games. 2 is my absolute favorite, though. DOS games and SNES... Fuck. These games are still incredibly playable to me, but the magic just isn't the same as through the eyes of a child.
+justin declair just go get console classixx download it on your computer and pay some money and you can play your favorite snes games for about a year on your computer. might be hard to control with the computer but you probably have some controller for the comptuer anyway. well i said my peace and hopefully you can get your childhood back lol
+FuzedBox I'm in my 20's and I still have the games, and they're still magical :3 Playing old games gives me my childhood back for a short period of time, it's lovely
William Davis That's why I never sold my classic games, and the collection has only grown over the years. Had to fix or replace a few consoles here and there over time, but my games still see regular play.
The music is so nostalgic. Reminds me of being young. This game was an interesting game in my portfolio of games played throughout my gaming career. When I first was gifted it by my father, my brothers and I were too young to be able to play it seriously. But I returned to the game and got pretty far before getting stuck and eventually giving up. The banana bees/wasps always creeped me out really badly.
in the American version they forgot to put the letter g in the rocket rush phase, but in the European version and in the Japanese version they forgot to put the letter g in the American version and they will have to decide that this cannot be different, it has to be the same as the European version and Japanese and don't think that collecting isn't 100%, it's only for those who want to collect life but don't need it and for those who want it, like me, for example, and if they want 100%, it will have to be retro achievements like collecting the word Kong in Rocket Rush phase to get retro achievements, but the 105% is being fast not because of the cheat code and it also can't be that the sound test has no option not because of the cheat code and solving the glitches that I don't accept so as not to have the defects and they need to be resolved before continuing our old adventure and one day for rareware to release the game as the new game is not about the songs What you have done is very perfect, I really like the excellent songs and I don't mind if the listen to the original version and the remastered version with copyright authorization
Wahaller No, shitwick; I am not stupid. My comment was partially in jest and partially due to the fact that the second game is widely regarded by fans and critics to be the best. I personally don't give a damn about opinions; I like the second one, and if you like the first one the most, then good for you. You're reading into things too much and letting your imaginary constructs push your buttons. You should seek help, because I really shouldn't have to spell this out for you.
FuzedBox "DKC3 is My Personal Favortie of The Trilogy." "Two is the real answer." Looking at this, are you saying that the guy should've said he liked the second game the most? Because, in all honesty, there is no "real answer".
Wahaller Lighten up, Francis. Stop analyzing youtube comments; it's not healthy. It was just a playful fucking comment until you shaved the hell out of it with Occam's Razor.
What I like about DKC3 is that they brought back the Mountain, Cliffside, Factory, and Forrest levels that were in the first game. The second game had the Pirate Theme so there were a lot of ship, swampy, water and bayou levels which fit the theme pretty well. For this game, the pirate theme was omitted and has more of a Robotic theme to it since you see Zingers now have saw blades on them in the game and the final boss is pretty much like Frankenstein -eseque character. Also I like the fact that you don't have to hunt down the DK coins anymore, like you did in the second game, while instead you just had to solve a puzzle in order to obtain it, and you have new friends to help you along the way to save Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong.
I dunno. I liked the mine shaft stages in DKC2. I wasn't a fan of DKC3. The music I liked in it was the mountain stages and the waterfalls. That was it.
I love all of the DKC games especially this one!! This is the one that was highly under appreciated. I remember seeing ads for this game during the cartoons I would watch after school and was so hyped up. To the point I would replay the first two over and over til I got my very own copy of this game.
This game I think had the best level design of any game in the trilogy. Each stage had a new creative idea to it. It's a shame really that many people passed up on this game because they were so obsessed with the first and second ones. Especially the second one.
Wow...just...WOW! This was Christmas of 1996 all over again! I was 14yrs old and my dad and i stayed up and played this till our eyeballs fell out onto the ground! I am now inspired to dust off the old SNES and play this weekend. Thank you for posting!
I had no idea there was a giant banana bird and final final ending! I beat K. Rool at Krematoa, then it was over. Very anti-climactic. Didn't understand it. Just learned about this ending tonight, and had to find a playthrough to see it!
Nice long video. Back in it’s prime days, I knew that dkc3 was clearly the best game to play around year 1999 for Super Nintendo systems. The story, team up kongs, weapons, items, bonus games, and bosses were all well done. In my mind, I think when rare made this game, it truly stands out the most.👍👍
I can't believe you can pass the levels without DK and checkpoint barrels. That's crazy. I'm playing this game right now on my old SN and I'm on the hidden world and it's been extremely hard, can't imagine achieving the next level without those barrels.
Around a month later, I did it! I have passed the 105% version several times, each time in less time. I feel very proud of myself 😂 I couldn't make it as a child, but as an adult I did! So if you think you suck at these games, just keep trying and that goes with almost everything in life 😉
I ordered this game a day or two ago, so I'm watching this to sort of get a feel for what it's like. I played it a lot with my older sister when I was younger, but I barely remember any of it. I decided to order the game because I have the first two, and like I said, I used to play it when I was really young.
thanks for thevideo. it brings back alot of memories this game. Me and my 2 year old have been watching this video before she goes to sleep. I have to praise your skills in the game aswell
I played pretty much any and all games for SNES and the Donkey Kong series was no different, C3 is my favorite, the mechanics just felt like it had more flow to it in MY own opinion, also I always did like Dixie because of her movements and air control, but I don't judge, most games from that era were freaking awesome.
I love the DK Country trilogy and think that every title had something enjoyable about em. This was my personal favorite game of the bunch though, and I still remember the tv commercial for this game
This person must be a expert at this game because they don't even die or get hit and they know where all the bonus stages are at. Great job I enjoyed watching
I love dkc 3 its (imo) the best out of the trilogy. I'm only saying that cuz I played this one first lol the levels was so much more creative like ripsaw rage and the GOD forbidden "rocket ride" and the bosses was as creepy as ever i.e. Barrel with the red eyes. I love all 3 but this one will always be my favorite. #90skid I miss 90s games :(
hey you move just like me in this game i played all 3 of them and it does take practice to move like this, but you are the first person i've seen that can actually play the game properly without missing out on prizes.
this was my favorite in the SNES DKC series. DKC1 was fun, but it got really repetitive by the end and the bosses were terrible. DKC2 was what I'd call an "idea bucket" with too much stuff that barely showed up as well as the Lost World being just unfairly hard to the point where I was never able to fully beat it and get to the secret ending. But DKC3 was genuinely fun, lots of elements from 2 were polished and perfected, as well as having the overworld map actually mean something with the exploration aspects and hidden areas, plus ALL the bosses were incredibly unique and interesting.
my favorite soundtrack in the game! that or the under water one! I just finished the first two in my channel and am now starting the 3rd one if youd like to come check it out!:)
i was 11 or 12 when this game came out...was my fave of the 3 in the series even tho i missed playing diddy. the way you would have to craft new modes of transportation to explore the map and the shops you could find and trade things to.
Wow. I'm usually proud of myself to just play through 2 or 3 levels flawlessly. You managed to play the whole game almost flawlessly. Admittedly I gave up at the lightning level because I started to get frustrated. Part of the reason I watched this is to see what the rest of the levels are like so I can get on with other games. Mastered DK1 and DK2 when I was a kid though. I found this game much harder.
I think this was the only donkey Kong country game I didn't play I played the first 2 but this one looks pretty good. the donkey Kong games were by far the most fun games I have played I remember watching my brother play and then I got into it myself. They just don't make fun games like this anymore :(
Still the BEST DK County game ever. I still like this version like I beat it just last year. I continue to play it, just for the memories. I wish the (mission in the) game wasn't over yet. So as I play the game and take the very same and only course, I imagine that I can cross ANYWHERE through the trees. Which is not too far fetched, because there are many National parks with trails and yet where hikers are not allowed to hike BETWEEN trails. So hikers like to hike again from time to time, because they REALLY WANT to hike where they never have. But that's not a choice. If they want to hike, they have to stay on the trail, which means taking the very same and only course. YET- that doesn't end their joy. It's a disappointment to them, but the joy of hiking through the trees is fun enough. Even though they remember every part of the trail and yet the trail makes up less than 1% of the forest. So every time again that they hike there, it's a combination of satisfaction AND dissatisfaction. And the only way to make the best out of the hike is to view the greater depths of the forest as they hike. So that it doesn't APPEAR that they're taking the very same and only course. In the case of this version of DK County, I just look further into the background. It's not far, but I get the idea. And as I focus off the course, it becomes 'less recognizable'. As if I'm now having trouble remembering the course of each level. Then it's like I'm on a level I've never been on before. Unknowingly at first, I recognize the course of the levels so we'll, that I can run through the levels WITHOUT using much focus. Like I'm watching a playthrough. No need to worry about 'getting hurt', missing or going off course. The only part of the game that I can't control then besides the motion of the enemies, is the music, which unlike the enemies, is a beautiful part of the game. So I'm just going with the flow of the music.
Hardest Level : Swoopy Salvo , not too bad but getting that second Bonus fark ! Funnest Levels : First level in the snow world and Koindozer Klamber level in world 7 The most annoying levels : Barrel Drop Bounce - 3rd level in the Snow world. Buzzer Barrage - First level in the Caves Word
I blame myself for not being able to read properly back then. I would have realized how to get the rest of the banana birds if I just took the time and F’N read lol. Even with Country 2, I didn't read and had no clue there more to the story this whole time!!!! 🤣🤣💯
This game scared me half to death when I was a kid because of Kiddy's scream when he'd get hurt. This game is my least favorite out of the trilogy because of that xDD
I love it how the water in Poisonous Pipeline is purple, just like the purple clouds K. Rool shoots in DKC 2 which also reverse your controls. =) I wonder if this detail was intentional.
Poisonous Pipeline was the most frustrating level I had ever endured. It messes with the controls, instead of left you go right and instead of right you go left. so it took about 6 tries for me to pass it.
I wish my bro hadn't sold my Super Nintendo and it's games. I had DKC 2 and 3, a lot of the Super Mario Brothers games, and a lot of other cool games. :'(

This is a really underrated title.
I've played all 3 for snes. So glad my parents bought these for me. Every Christmas that's all we ever wanted was the new DK.
I miss rareware. They had such a unique style to their games.
Yes, they were exceptional. They were based not far from where I live :)
I wish Nintendo had bought it, that pisses me off
they certainly felt different than japanese developers. i dont know if worse or better. i really dont know. just different
Quiel Evolution Gameplays ...
they were very rare

They really pushed the limits of the SNES hardware for this game and it is gorgeous. I love the old-but-polished rendered CGI aesthetics.
3 years later I agree even moreso. DKC3 a best

ZeldaKing64 The Soundtrack Is Great

DKC2 was what I'd call an "idea bucket" with too much stuff that barely showed up as well as the Lost World being just unfairly hard to the point where I was never able to fully beat it and get to the secret ending. But DKC3 was genuinely fun, lots of elements from 2 were polished and perfected, as well as having the overworld map actually mean something with the exploration aspects and hidden areas, plus ALL the bosses were incredibly unique and interesting.
God what a trip back in time! Used to play this in Brazil back in 1997. By that time I didn't even know how to speak english! Thanks for sharing!
I love this game! Best game on SNES in my opinion.
A very underrated Donkey Kong game
My favorite game! Best game ever!!!!
Still the hardest DKC game I ever played...
Uno de los mejores títulos de la super Nintendo gracias por subirlo al completó
I prefer 1 and 3 over 2. 2 is too frustrating for my taste.
I have tekken motion picture VHS and donkey kong country 3 snes game from thrift store.
These hedgehogs in Springin' Spiders heavily remind me of Shadow. Is it him searching for 4th C.E.?
the factory level music is so damn catchy and intense
my favorite soundtrack in the game! that or the under water one! I just finished the first two in my channel and am now starting the 3rd one if youd like to come check it out!:)
I used to play this with my mom whenever she didn't have to work. Good times.
Damn. Nice speedrun. It takes me the better part of a day to do this.
i was 11 or 12 when this game came out...was my fave of the 3 in the series even tho i missed playing diddy. the way you would have to craft new modes of transportation to explore the map and the shops you could find and trade things to.
I thought the maximum was 103%!
I just realized that steel barrels are heavily used in virtually everything in this game
Loved playing as dixie.
Dixie Kong is the best character of videogames
the Gameboy version was my child hood...i lost the game...I must find it again
I miss this game
And I miss the complete DKC series😥
I actually really like Kiddie Kong....
TheShadowWalker there’s really nothing wrong with him. People just want something to nitpick about this game.
와.. 나는 게임을 절반도 못 즐긴거였어
Haha Those fireballs the birds launch in that Mekanos place always used to make me hungry. They look like Cheetos cheeseballs!
One of the best looking snes games and most fun!
how do i cross the waterfall to k3? i just cant do it, is it some phase that i missed????
Hardest Level : Swoopy Salvo , not too bad but getting that second Bonus fark !
Funnest Levels : First level in the snow world and Koindozer Klamber level in world 7
The most annoying levels :
Barrel Drop Bounce - 3rd level in the Snow world.
Buzzer Barrage - First level in the Caves Word
+mikesgtrs1 i remember the level under water where you must give the food to piranha, very boring,,he go mad if you go mistake something
+mikesgtrs1 also the TREE levels, with this ansioux sad music xD
I blame myself for not being able to read properly back then. I would have realized how to get the rest of the banana birds if I just took the time and F’N read lol.
Even with Country 2, I didn't read and had no clue there more to the story this whole time!!!! 🤣🤣💯
Phenomenal playthrough, never seen someone play like that before
wish made them like this today, donkey kong country 2 my favorite but love em all, cant be snes games
Try Donkey Kong Country returns and Tropical Freeze
I agree. These games seemed so much like what a video game should be *no offense to modern games* but that's my opinon
You can get these on the Virtual console for Wii U now and you can get the Donkey Kong Land trilogy on the 3DS virtual console.
This game scared me half to death when I was a kid because of Kiddy's scream when he'd get hurt. This game is my least favorite out of the trilogy because of that xDD
2:16:00 is poisonous pipeline
2:19:45 is boss fight
2:56:35 is rocket rush
2:58:50 is Knautilus boss fight
The graphics on the new donkey kong country games should have stayed truer to this look. like how trine series looks
I just found out you can 105% this game and there is a toughest mode. Making my 103% completion irelivant
I love it how the water in Poisonous Pipeline is purple, just like the purple clouds K. Rool shoots in DKC 2 which also reverse your controls. =) I wonder if this detail was intentional.
It was.It took me a few tries to pass Poisonous Pipeline!!
maybe the Captain K. Rool is the Doctor K. Rool.
+Gabriel Sabadine Kaplan K.rool And King K.rool And Baronstein K.rool Are The Same People
I love the third Donkey Kong Country... Nostalgic!
I used to play this on the Nintendo 64 when I was like 8 or 9 and that was in like 2007
That must have been fun, specially because this game was for the SNES...
Banana Birds and DK Coins... let the Hunt begin! :) The Donkey Kong Series ... well what can I say? Timeless Classics baby :)
Poisonous Pipeline was the most frustrating level I had ever endured. It messes with the controls, instead of left you go right and instead of right you go left. so it took about 6 tries for me to pass it.
DAMM u played through that games like a BOSS lol
How the Hell can you make a 2 and 3 without Donkey Kong in it?
He was in all 3, just not playable in 2 or 3
+Chad King but honestly, donkey kong sucked. Diddy, Dixie and Kiddy are way better.
+locomojoboy2 meh kiddy was meh, but yes dixie and diddy are far beyond donkey.
I wish my bro hadn't sold my Super Nintendo and it's games. I had DKC 2 and 3, a lot of the Super Mario Brothers games, and a lot of other cool games. :'(
congrats ;) !! nice game nice work
