You could also use rocks from the property to outline the raised beds 😊👍

Thats a great start for flower beds! Using up junk wood is excellent, composted cow or horse poo would be a great addition. I cant wait to see this grow. ❤

I lived near a race track. I went to collect horse manure for my roses. They thought I was nuts, but it was the best decision.

Sunday isn't Sunday without The Chateau video!! Agree with other poster that the blue behind you in the office looks beautiful! Your research and garden bed are impressive! Glad attorney now involved. Cottage is looking great too! Wondering if Haley could come to the June retreat? Have a great week!

I know nothing about planting or gardening. I would have just sprinkled a bunch of wild flower seeds on the grass and let that water flow water themselves. Hats off to you for trying something new! Excellent job ❤

Be careful with these. They are sometimes packed with noxious natives. Better to know what you are planting for future garden management.

The silverware resting set is so sweet. Love the whimsy animals. You might wanna think about utilizing the trees and branches and bushes around the area for a a base in your vases. I’d seen a few other château that started utilizing this method because of the different diverse trees and branches and bushes. I’ll look to see if I can fine the ladies name or the channel. I believe there was two different ones that utilize the same lady that takes trimmings from trees and bushes and brings it into her house rather than spending large amounts money on flowers from the florist.
The TH-cam channel is how to renovate a château . The episode is château Floristy on a budget.

Create 4 beds for zinnias, snapdragons, cosmos and dahlias. That will give you a nice basic assortment of cutting flowers. Then spread wildflower seeds that will flower at different times throughout whole property where you do not cut grass.

A lot of flowers can come from shrubs. You can plant a row of rose bushes, Hydrangea, Hibiscus and Lavender as well as a variety of flowering shrubs that you can use in vases. Garden centre's can advise you if you chat to them 😀

Mulch! Abbey it’s so natural and will keep the weeds at bay and break down into dirt plus you have so much brush that could be cleared and turned into free mulch buy the smallest wood chipper and it will save you so much in labor and materials ❤ ps you’re not lazy at all!!! your doing so much and editing is hard too ❤

You need to raise those beds ! You will just be weeding all the time a wood surround about 12 inches high at least !

You need to plant perenials so they come back every year and you dont have to do many annuals to suppliment them. You have lots of green trees everywhere, so there is lots of foliage already. A new flower garden is so much fun.

If you don't want to be weeding constantly, then do raised beds. Once you get the size built, put down your cardboard then fill it with sticks, logs, newspaper, leaves, etc,. Then put your dirt on top of that. Once you get the bed ready, then you can plant your flowers. I am a huge fan on native wildflowers. I plant them every year. Some reseed themselves.

Hellebores are excellent cutting flowers for your property and will expand to make a carpet of color. They don’t like their feet wet but they love to be under the shade of trees. Early Spring flowers.

I have used both the lasagna method and the black fabric. If your goal is to improve the soil, the lasagna method is the way to go. If you lazy and don’t want to pull weeds, The black fabric is the way to go. If you decide to use the black fabric do not cheap out, buy the best.

Having done both the no dig method and dealt with the black fabric method, I'd say you made the right choice for your cutting garden. The no dig is still work, but all you do is put stuff down. The black fabric is not at all flexible in terms of changing your mind about where you plant things. In the US you can get all the free cardboard you want from supermarkets. Just ask the manager or the people in the back!
