  • Nyobolt is transitioning its high-power density, fast-charging battery technology from the laboratory to practical applications by unveiling the first operational Nyobolt electric vehicle prototype. Collaboratively designed and engineered with CALLUM, the Nyobolt electric vehicle aims to validate the company's battery performance in high-performance settings and demonstrate to automakers an enhanced customer experience where long charging times are a thing of the past.
Founded in 2019 and based in Cambridge, Nyobolt has developed next-generation patented carbon and metal oxide anode materials, a low impedance cell design, integrated power electronics, and advanced software controls. These innovations have resulted in power-dense battery and charging systems that support the electrification of high-uptime industrial and automotive applications, including heavy-duty off-highway trucks, electric vehicles, robotics, and consumer devices that require high power and rapid recharge cycles.
Initial in-vehicle testing this month using powerful 350 kilowatt (800 volt) direct current fast chargers has already confirmed that the Nyobolt electric vehicle’s 50 ampere-hour 35 kilowatt-hour battery can be charged from 10 percent to 80 percent in four minutes and 37 seconds. A full charge allows the prototype to achieve a range of 155 World Harmonized Light Vehicle Test Procedure miles, which is twice the speed of most of the fastest charging vehicles available today. Notably, the first four minutes of charging at a constant current of 500 amperes provide 120 miles of range.

Just need the powertrain in another vehicle with maybe 50-70kWh.

350 kWh fast-chargers. people are dumb af. this is not only beyond insanely dangerous, it's stupid expensive and has no realistic infrastructure. people are forced to replace and buy A+++ house appliances, where a 1kWh heater/cooler is considered high consumption, and here you have a fcking 350 times as high consumption charger in power alone.
Do people even realize how much strain and pull this puts on the grid? how thick of cables are needed for just 1? Now imagine a whole city block.
Now imagine a malfunction or a surge, or short-circuit. 350 fckin kilowatthours. not only are you 'fried', if something goes wrong, the whole block is fried from a single outlet.
this is insane, and it completely massacres the supposed 'ecology' of E-vehicles.
And this is not impressive either. It's as realistic, applicable, and reasonable as a 3000 watt speaker inside a rusty ricer at a vin diesel wannabe carmeet and acting like you achieved something important, groundbreaking and setting the future.

We are passed this stage, we started with small fast EV's so tech became sexy, and gave the EV's a super fast image, and correctly I might add.
Now that we are past the first stage of acceptance (ignoring the stubborn old "i just don't wanna EV, cause it doesn't go brooom" people, that's one generation, they are gone in 30 years.)
We don't need fast tiny, impractical overpriced EV sport cars. We know they are fast, yadayadayada.
If you want to impress people, make a midsized everyday car that is practical and cheaper then a petrol car, and charges at this rate and has 800 km range. That would be a design win.
This is funny but too late to the party.

Finally. This type of vehicle should’ve been on the road a decade ago. I’m so excited to see what invitations in light coupes are derived from this!
