Fuel is better on the cupra even when pushing the car. I could get 45mpg on the cupra if I drove sensible, the i30n I can get about 35mpg if I drive sensible. Current GTI owner with a lease expiring in a few months. NOT a fan of FWD because of the wheel hop launching straight, in turns or in fast transitions. Living in the NE USA we get all seasons. One of my favorite rides was my 06 MAZDASPEED6. We don’t really have anything like that anymore. As highly touted as the Type R is I’m nervous about getting into another FWD vehicle. Wish we had Type R levels of performance in an affordable 4 door midsized sedan like Mazda and Subaru (Legacy Spec B) used to build. All of the really fun performance sedans are 55+K. Keep up the good vids Rory. We follow u on the gram too and miss u on Top Gear.

Well done! Just discovered your channel. Subscribed! As you went over your list I could feel the build up to the Honda Civic Type R and I was right! I too am a fan of the hot hatches ever since owning, and sadly having to let go of, a first gen Honda CRX back in high school. For us here in the US we don't have the Hyundai i30 but we do get the AMAZING Hyundai Veloster N. The short list for our second car was a Veloster N or a Type R. We had an opportunity to get one of the last, new Type R's in our region and got it and boy are we glad we did. This thing is OUTSTANDING and for those who quickly dismiss it because it is front wheel drive and not all wheel drive or rear wheel drive, just drive the thing. For those who don't like the looks, I can't help you there because my wife and I LOVE the way it looks and we don't buy cars to please other people anyways. After typing this I am going to go to my garage and look at it again and smile. Again, well done and keep up the great work!

Sorry to hear about that. We have 3 people in our family hopefully one day will get to 4 but even if we go to 5 or more I am never getting rid of my Type R. This thing is a modern day collectible and already holds it value very well. Plus it was not easy to get in the first place. Why have a permanent cup holder in center of the back seat and not a fold down cup holder/arm rest that can be folded up for other person. The only thing that comes to mind is trying to cut down on weight capacity because one more person does add more weight and that might be to much for the wheel and suspension set up. The Type R tires are already like rubber bands stretched around a rim. Good luck man. I know if I had to let go of my Type R I would surely regret it because I don't know if I could get another car as special as this especially seeing how hot hatches are becoming more rare with the upcoming CO2 emissions.

35k with tax, but mad to buy from a main dealer without doing your homework. You can get much cheaper by shopping around online, especially price comparison sites like drive the deal or buy a car. Nearly new, pre registered, etc. the deals on the i30 fastback N, i30N hatchback and fiesta ST alone are insane. Especially either Hyundai as the only optional extra is which colour of paint you want.
