    Thanks a bunch, I just purchased the red one manufactured by RO&LY. The base on mine is sheet metal, but works fine. I am using a DeWalt 4½ inch 7.5 amps, 12,000 rpm no-load speed. It’s the lightest and smallest grinder I have and now with my little chop saw I can cut tons of flat bar 1/8 thick by 1½ inch wide or less and solid rod ½ inch thick or less, both mild steel. Also, I am using the unit with a foot pedal “Momentary ON Switch” to shut off the unit in case something happens. Angle grinders are NOT designed to be used with this stand. Replace that wheel and be safe my friend.

    I bought one of these exactly the same from a U.K. supermarket, I only bought it because it’s so cheep so thought I’d give it a go and I was absolutely stunned how good it was, you get a lot better square cut then free hand. You can move the vice further to the left so the head of the grinder doesn’t hit it, take the guard off the grinder and you can also put a 125mm disk on the grinder and get more cuts before having to change disks.

    Good review. I bought one of these recently in the UK, very cheap at £15 Sterling. I agree the limitation on the descent of the disc is a major drawback, however your idea of using an external vice is good. Bolt both the stand and the external vice down though! Mine is exactly the same and does look well made. I will buy another small grinder and set it up as a permanent small chop saw

    A couple of things I noticed one that you removed the bottom rubber foot pad on the squaring screws I was thinking about cutting the bottom pad into a ball and maybe if you move the vice over to the other holes it might allow for the nose to miss the vice also I was thinking about tacking with a welder the second set of nuts to the squaring screw so you can adjust the easier

    The device has its limitations, but it is simply advantageous if the angle grinder is gesppand and the workpiece also, this results in some feasibilities that you freehand not get so accurate. I think the stand is good for the angle grinder, and the video is well done anyway, well shown and well explained, thanks for pointing.

    I was looking for a review in English as most of them here on TH-cam are in Hindi or Malaysian.
    To put it mildly I was shocked at your lack of safe practice in your use of a grinder. That cutting wheel should have been discarded ages ago, just look at the missing chunk out of it, that could explode at high speed and do a hell of a lot of damage your hands or face.
    You never de-burr against a cutting wheel, that is not what it is made for.
    You should have camped that base firmly to your bench, surely there's no need to explain why.
    This video is dated 2018 and it is now 2021, I hope you are well and in still possession of all ten digits. 🤚🤟

    HOW did you get the grinder not to drift on the mounting pins?? it's my biggest gripe with this design ... the 'stop' bolt prevents drift in one direction but not the other -i though maybe it might be necessary to fab something to lock the grinder from drifting horizontally to the right

    • @thedriver02
      @thedriver02  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think the force from cutting pushes it against the stop so it doesn't drift while you have a downward force applied.
