I do get your point though, and I agree. I don't think there's anything wrong with a provocative drawing, my issue is when basically every single female character is drawn in that way.
@@Fernando-ek8jp BG info, jokes, etc are all things people will be watching the show for...nobody should be thinking "I'm horny, let me throw on some 7 deadly sins so I can enjoy those frequent nude and/or groping scenes with elizabeth rather than going to pornhub". I can tolerate it in small doses where it is just one of the jokes (like the naruto example, we see like 3 instances of tsunades legendary chest be a focus and yet outside of that she's just a badass character not used for eye candy)...but yeah when it's consistent or you have female characters who's very clearly been drawn to be eye candy rather than a person to care about, the show loses me. When its most female characters it might as well be branded as a hentai with "plot" and stop pretending it's anything else.
In Baki’s case, what he’s doing is just another step beyond Katsumi; instead of just imagining his body being built different, he’s imagining himself as something bigger or faster or heavier, to change the way he moves and bring out his full physical strength. Since he’d been dealing with Pickle, a defrosted prehistoric human, his mind went to the apex predators of Pickle’s era, the dinosaurs. Shaori, meanwhile, isn’t really about making yourself “weightless”; it’s basically the artform of rolling with a punch, taken to an extreme. By moving with the strike willingly and carrying that motion all the way through, the user can mostly negate the force behind the incoming attack. That much of the technique is fairly realistic, at least in function; though you won’t see people doing complete forward flips to absorb the impacts. But Hajime no Ippo has another example of this, specifically used by Eiji Date.
You gotta check out The Strongest Disciple bro. The martial arts used is so on point, that it gave me an actual useful insight into Karate and I’ve been training for years. Plus it’s hilarious and one of the best martial arts anime ever.
I love this type of video. Definitely should do more about how real world martial arts meets anime. I do also want to mention that though most people dont practice tai chi in a combative manner, from what ive heard its basically a form of shadow boxing/wrestling. Ramsey Dewy had a video where he talked about his experience sparring an old tai chi master and how it was basically just grappling.
Grandpa Gohan was stated to be a master of every Martial art on by Yamcha in OGDB, in DB Kenpo can be taken to the 30th degree and in real life it can only be taken to the 10th. Also Goku is stated to be the best martial artist in earth's history which includes Gohan. Goku in the manga has so much battle experience and skill to the point where he can predict Hit's attack that literally skip time.
I never really thought about it, but the form of hand-to-hand combat the us military teaches honestly could be described as Gun Jutsu, because it really is just “get them away from you and shoot”
Shamo is my favorite martial arts manga I’ve ever read and you should check that out too. It has dark themes and the protagonist isn’t a “good guy” things don’t work out well for him. Viral hit is a web toon, it has no extra power system and I think it’s accurate martial arts.

@@Doyenn I watched Naruto later in life after growing up on Dragon Ball. @@Doyenn Naruto is definitely up there for me, but I have huge love for Yu Yu Hakusho, for my childhood, that may still exceed Naruto. But, Naruto is definitely a better story.
I'm curious If there is a reason you didn't have avatar on here. Yes Most people in that show focus on using magical powers to control elements all the movements they use to control those are all based off different styles of martial arts
So we're just going to pretend JJK doesn't exist? We just going to pretend that Toji is a different breed? We going to pretend that Gojo won't pack up a ton of your favorite anime characters? Alright. Cool.
Gotta say my number 1 would have to go to hajime no ippo. It has such amazing boxing and fights. Sure it is dramatized and made more flashy, but still amazing and well done from a realism stand point
As a veteran with the majority of my family being veterans or currently active military I am very confident that the hand to hand combat training in the US military had never been referred to as "gun jutsu"
I was thinking the same thing. Army vet here and I can’t remember learning anything called as such, I have however learned something called “Combatives”. Not sure who Nick talked to but they fooled him.
I was having a conversation about who would win kakashi vs. gojo with my roommates, and every argument I had defending Kakashi was void when i found out the writer stated any universe that uses bullets would defeat Naruto's universe. Meaning someone like Yamcha from the Dragon Ball universe, who is a master martial artist whose signature move is Wolf Fang Fist, a ki infused martial arts combo, can likely defeat most of Naruto's universe as most characters in Dragon Ball can literally deflect bullets with their skin. That's just physical traits, as when we go into abilities, a ki blast can actually blow up a moon as seen with Piccolo. This means Yamcha can likely trash basically all of Naruto's universe.
I am really suprised you would get number 1 to be GOH. As someone whos read the entire manwha I completely agree, since GOH goes from godly abilities to martial arts to godly abilities mixed with martial arts.
I’ve also read GOH and Mori Jin still incorporates taekwando while being strong af like his recoiless kick, but I’d still think Kengan Ashura is better in terms of martial arts (Though, that may be because I’ve read the manga recently and it’s fresher in my mind.)

Now I know you ain’t watched it if you’re gonna use that example 😂 quit being goofy. Boruto and kawaki get probed by an alien and now there the strongest in the verse with little to no training. I’m talking pre time skip but still
@joshwindham6078 hey, quick question, how many levels of ultra instinct did Goku need to beat moro? Mastered? True? Ultimate? You know, in most shows just one of those prefixes would imply there weren't any more levels. I hate boruto but at least they at least tried to establish a ceiling. Not a very good one but still better than super
Naturally. Naruto during opening 6 I believe (filler ark) with the opening "Yura Yura" used actual motion capture for the animations of the fight scenes. So its heavily inspired by actual martial arts actors vs Dragon Ball Z hyper-man punching. They even managed to copy the Cowboy Bebop movie where Spike fought Vincent on the train. You'd never see that amount of detail in Z, GT or super.
@@geox8485yessir... And I'm tired of hearing people say Naruto had bad animation. They mostly bring up the Pain fight which is honestly some of the best animation I see. No matter how good the animation is, you will get wonky shots if you freeze frame
@@neonicon8500 Who the hell says Naruto has bad animation? The average Naruto episode might have average animation but the best animated episodes have some of the best sequences in all of anime. And the Pain fight didn’t have bad animation at all. The issue people had with it was the art and the style as Pain would look and move like a cartoon character which didn’t fit the vibe but the animation was still good…
I like Naruto too, but try to not bash on other anime like DBZ just cuz you haven't really watched it. I can think of plenty of examples where certain hidden details/callbacks are present within the DB story, and even a couple of things in Z. Namely in Super, Goku re-created his fight with his grandpa that happened in original DB. Sure DBZ is full of more high-octane combat, but that doesnt inherently make it better or worse than Naruto. They're just different.
I did wtf TKD and also if you watch the Olympics style TKD we do wear chest protectors (red side and blue side) Its ITF that doesn't wear one like Howrang* from Tekken
Me too though i only train and practice the kicks. I never compete into the Olympics. I even do arnis, boxing and muay thai. I honestly combining my own mma styles and work out everytime i like too and train to defend myself. Hwoarang as a tkd player. I suck at it. But i often play muay thai and kyokushin character like bruce and jin. Then i play a yaw yan(with arnis empty hand style) character named josie
martial arts in most of dragon ball : barrage , single punches , a couple of people with accual martial arts martial arts in naruto : almost everyone has good martial arts when a child
If you watched Resurrection F, Battle of Gods, or any of the older movies, and even in Super Hero, there's plenty of martial arts. What Naruto fans don't understand is that animation carries their show.
Couple? Literally the entire Z team is composed of MASTERS in martial arts, if you watch the choreography in the fights (especially OG DB) you can see how the characters incorporate martial arts (mostly wing chun) even at their high speed fights, heck even DBS has characters straight up using IRL martial arts
As a okinawan martial arts practitioner for 5 yrs and a martial artist for 15 total, I can definitely say there are people out there that stab hard objects with our fingers just as you stated in this video for the exact reason as you stated 😂
Most of these are valid and can easily combat directly to others, so I’d pin it up to whoever has a more diverse fighting style, so whoever employs the most effective techniques in a large multitude is going to come on top, so people like Baki. I personally haven’t seen Kangen Ashura but I assume he’d fall in the same category
Nickelodeons Avatar, although an American cartoon( not sure if I can call it anime😅) Is goated in martial arts imo. The real martial arts reference and the consistently of good choreography 🗿🐐
I’d nick doing martial arts videos leads him to make Baki and Kengan videos I’m 100000000% on board, as someone that’s done martial arts his whole life and anime being a big reason for that. I’d love to see my favorite anime YTber do more of that
Wow, I had never heard of God of Highschool before but I'm definitely going to check it out. Especially if it gives some love to Tai Chi. Excellent video! On Goku's grappling skills While he does primarily focus on striking Goku (or any other Z-Fighter) does know throwing and submission techniques. I'd guess the reason we don't see more of it is because it's easier to draw/animate the striking side of things, so they mostly pull out the variety for movies.
Baki doesn't need plot..the characters are just that badass🤷🏾♂️.....also baki finished its plot when baki beat yujiro so now we just going in side quests and as a fan i love it
DragonBall has not been about pure martial arts in a very long time. Most of the characters have never even considered themselves martial artists. Just Goku, the humans, and maybe the angels.
@dragonhut2330 I don't know if it is an issue really. Earthlings being more technically trained, while most other races are untrained or trained in just power has been a consistent plot point since Z
@@lilBabyJesus2112 I mean Cell for example has everyone's skills besides Gohan, Hit is a master Assasin of 1000 years, Granola is heavily based in pressure points and whis and Beerus are also Fantastic martial artist. DBS are doing a better Job in the manga starting to display Martial art skills
@kaienglish271 I did say most, not all. I would not call assassins like Hit martial artists, though. Especially since his technique is through freezing time like Guldo. Granola considered himself mostly a sniper. It's a skillful technique, but that doesn't make him a martial artist. Most Gods of Destruction are just brawlers. There is nothing martial art like behind hakai. Vegeta's Ultra Ego is almost anti martial arts. He is a pure brawler. The Angels I completely agree with being the representation of the pinnacle of martial arts. Beerus seems to be the only known GoD trying to learn their style. Super has been bringing the focus back to actual martial arts a good bit, but that doesn't change the fact that it was very limited in Z and still not the driving focus like early Dragon Ball.
You did amazingly on the research into the different forms of martial arts uaed. I was hoping you'd cover the dude in god of high scholl who turns into the kistune spirit his martial arts and where thay originates. Otherwise, loved the video and am fully here for a swords style video!

I was wondering what your thoughts on the new one piece remake and chainsaw man the movie and what you thought of the latest episode of jjk is I'm hyped myself
Ok I know it may sound crazy but this is somewhat believable. A massive DB youtuber full on just stated DB isn't about Martial Arts. They can be a factor but its more about your own power. Also the only fights that you really see towns of Martial Arts skill is UI Goju fights. While most Naruto fights show the characters using skill and techniques to do damage. Naruto used literal Martial Arts on Momoshiki and Isshiki. So I'd understand the take that Naruto has better martial arts whether its right or wrong
Im struggling to understand what you guys are even arguing about. When you say Naruto is better at martial arts do you just mean the animation and choreograph? Because yes. Naruto has better animation than dragon ball that’s a well known fact and is more obvious but if you mean the characters individually then Goku is better at martial arts. Also OG Dragon Ball was very martial arts inspired and it’s probably the closest the show got to it. Look at Goku vs Krillin for example.

Im only a couple seconds in but i need to say this before i forget every time i see one of those ufc cards of anime characters where it says no powers I will adamantly defend that goku is one of if not the worst fighter on the card. Goku never learns martial arts he’s just a gym bro who likes picking fights at waffle house the narrative of him being a good martial artist because he won a world martial arts championship is stupid. Dragon ball is just a show about what saitama thinks martial arts are (punching in a way that looks cool). Ps. The best comeback to someone arguing that goku is the best or one of the best martial artists is “if you think dragon ball is about martial arts then you probably think the wwe is real fighting”

Wild not including baki in that intro of who would win

Loving that you mention fist of the north star. Love that series
Just realized the photo at the beginning didn't have Ichigo. Oh, the disrespect
Do you think db or naruto has better fight scenes ?
Let’s be real statements don’t matter goku and the rest of them punch super fast and that’s it. All they do to win is just powerup
Every shounen ever even hxh except some fights @@Gt_oanime
I never really thought about it, but the form of hand-to-hand combat the us military teaches honestly could be described as Gun Jutsu, because it really is just “get them away from you and shoot”
Shamo is my favorite martial arts manga I’ve ever read and you should check that out too. It has dark themes and the protagonist isn’t a “good guy” things don’t work out well for him.
Viral hit is a web toon, it has no extra power system and I think it’s accurate martial arts.
Tienshinhan is dominating the rest of DBZ when it comes down to pure skill.
Don't know if it ever got animated, but read Veritas. It's a manhua. The best actual fighting, with a little anime fighting magic. Love it.

should've probably mentioned avatar: the last airbender as an honorable mention (since it's basically a pseudo-anime) since each of the bending nations have their own form of martial arts applied into their bending abilities, and then legend of Korra throws in boxing as well

I watched Naruto later in life after growing up on Dragon Ball. They are definitely different, but one of the reasons I loved Naruto so much, is seeing so much of the influence from my old favorite, and still one of my favorite series reflected in the main character, and many other characters.
@DavidKinner naruto still always gonna be my second favorite

Naruto is definitely up there for me, but I have huge love for Yu Yu Hakusho, for my childhood, that may still exceed Naruto. But, Naruto is definitely a better story.
I'm curious If there is a reason you didn't have avatar on here. Yes Most people in that show focus on using magical powers to control elements all the movements they use to control those are all based off different styles of martial arts
Avatar is not an anime and legend of Korra honestly forgot that bending was supposed to be based on martial arts
I like the crossover. I feel like you could post this on your Naruto Channel too, or maybe just a community post with a link to this video
Kenichi Shirahama better be on this top 5 martial artist list

Hajime no Ippo should also be mentioned because of how good their boxing animation is.

Facts
As a veteran with the majority of my family being veterans or currently active military I am very confident that the hand to hand combat training in the US military had never been referred to as "gun jutsu"
I was thinking the same thing. Army vet here and I can’t remember learning anything called as such, I have however learned something called “Combatives”. Not sure who Nick talked to but they fooled him.
@@AngieCarr I'm telling you I was perplexed. I had to stop and Google it to make sure I didn't miss something very important for my entire life.
Seeee I told you nick, there’s a lane for you to do the anime versus stuff, I love this video
Loving this, as a hard-core martial artist, I appreciate the subject big time
I am really suprised you would get number 1 to be GOH.
Plz do a swordfighters video too, kenshin and the gang deserve some love. Thank you Nick!
Hajime no Ippo where? Surprising that it's not mentioned, in fact it's good enough to be number one imo
Take a shot every time Nick says boy o boy every time you watch him lol
nc you need to come up with a nice anime character themed name that will stick to all channels so you can make your self easier to find, ppl need to see this 🔥
Won't happen. TH-camrs are greedy and more channels = more money
I would watch Lee vs Gaara a hundred times before Goku trying to give Jiren a siezure with his hair
I can tell you ain’t watched it 😂
@@joshwindham6078 i watched it when it first came out. it sucked and jiren is literally the most boring character in all of dragon ball.
Yeah Naruto had better animation than dragon ball. That’s already a well known fact.

And feng. Who is shaolin kenpo chatacter
Kengan getting the the respect it deserve make me very happy. The manga and it sequel is amazing
martial arts in most of dragon ball : barrage , single punches , a couple of people with accual martial arts
martial arts in naruto : almost everyone has good martial arts when a child
Most of them use martial arts. Except the antagonists really.😊
If you watched Resurrection F, Battle of Gods, or any of the older movies, and even in Super Hero, there's plenty of martial arts. What Naruto fans don't understand is that animation carries their show.
Dragon ball has a stronger narrative of hand to hand fighting because they are strictly martial artists.
Couple? Literally the entire Z team is composed of MASTERS in martial arts, if you watch the choreography in the fights (especially OG DB) you can see how the characters incorporate martial arts (mostly wing chun) even at their high speed fights, heck even DBS has characters straight up using IRL martial arts
Keep up the awesome work and videos Nick love the video
As a okinawan martial arts practitioner for 5 yrs and a martial artist for 15 total, I can definitely say there are people out there that stab hard objects with our fingers just as you stated in this video for the exact reason as you stated 😂
I love how nick does this fight day for UFC 😂
Big fan here, wandering if you have any advice for how you stay motivated with other things going on in life to make videos
I KNEW this video was coming after seeing the TikTok about Yuji vs Teen Naruto lmao
My first thought was god of high-school so glad it's on the list. They threw so many hands.
Definitely ready for that tournament 😫
Most of these are valid and can easily combat directly to others, so I’d pin it up to whoever has a more diverse fighting style, so whoever employs the most effective techniques in a large multitude is going to come on top, so people like Baki. I personally haven’t seen Kangen Ashura but I assume he’d fall in the same category
Nickelodeons Avatar, although an American cartoon( not sure if I can call it anime😅)

OG Dragon ball “a bit more boring than the other ones.” Huhhhh ?!?!? Dats a lie
Wow, I had never heard of God of Highschool before but I'm definitely going to check it out. Especially if it gives some love to Tai Chi.
Excellent video!
On Goku's grappling skills
While he does primarily focus on striking Goku (or any other Z-Fighter) does know throwing and submission techniques.
I'd guess the reason we don't see more of it is because it's easier to draw/animate the striking side of things, so they mostly pull out the variety for movies.
Drink every time he says "Taekwondo"
Baki doesn't need plot..the characters are just that badass🤷🏾♂️.....also baki finished its plot when baki beat yujiro so now we just going in side quests and as a fan i love it
it's like u don't need a whole plot for real mma ppl to fight...u just want to see the different skill sets pitted against each other
kiritsugu and Kirei from Fate Zero should definitely get a couple honorable mentions
DragonBall has not been about pure martial arts in a very long time. Most of the characters have never even considered themselves martial artists. Just Goku, the humans, and maybe the angels.
Maybe Daima will fix that?

Wait until DB Super gets the next chunks animated and Goku pulls out his avatar technique. You gave it such credit.

Ps. The best comeback to someone arguing that goku is the best or one of the best martial artists is “if you think dragon ball is about martial arts then you probably think the wwe is real fighting”
kengan ashura does the best at mixing real martial arts with super powers
Thank you for saying something about Jin Mori. I love the martial arts of that anime.
