Romans 6:1,2 refute this . A born again believer is not accountable for their sins , however there are still consequences to any sin a believer does. Keep sinning and sin well if you follow someone other than Jesus Heb 12:2 and embrace what they say as true , then you are not doing what you are supposed to be doing Acts 17:11
There is no apostolic succession mentioned in scripture 3:30 > The great commission is for all believers as the apostles went to disciple new believers and they disciple new believers but not endowed with the same powers as the apostles. All through the new testament we find believers promoting the gospel not only apostles. There are no priests in the new testament other than Christ and there is no retention of sins mentioned in the new testament . Our father who lives in heaven ........ forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors? Do we need an earthly priest to stand in for Christ to do any part of our confession? 1 John 1:9 points us confession of sins to stay in a right relationship with God as all of our sins were forgiven never to be brought up again 1 John 2:1,2 1 Cor 6:11 and we find that we are to ask God ,not a man standing in for God . Heb 4:15,16 Our Lord Himself instituted confession as the way to be made right with Him. Are we at liberty to Deny this? No we are not . However the concept Jesus presented does not include someone standing in for Jesus.
I think you need to remove your fingers from your ears. The Catholic and orthodox understanding of those passages which was established by people that knew Jesus personally is way more likely to be correct that someone living 1500 years later. The fact that there are over 35,000 Protestant denominations each claiming to have read the Bible passages correctly proves you need apostolic tradition to guide in reading the Bible
@@HavNCDy I always find it interesting as to how many churches roman Catholics are told to use in their arguments. There is only one church, not thousands ,One only . You have a lot of church groups but there is only one that has the audacity to claim to be the one and only. Every church outside of the roman Catholic church claims to be part of and never the only. As to interpretation of the scriptures concerning major doctrines there is a general consensus of what is correct, with a lot of differences on non essential beliefs. So lets clear up one misconception you have . We as believers still have a sin nature and yes when we fall short of what God would like us to be or do we confess our sin to Him and He restores a right spirit within us. There is no reason to confess my sin to a priest to be absolved or denied depending on the priest and there is no reference in all of the new testament where people went to a priest to confess their sins. Old testament Yes ,new testament No. James 5:16 try this with a priest some time and see if he will confess his sins to you so that you may be healed?
When Jesus resurrected, HE said to the apostles"" Whose sin you forgive they are forgiven/Whos sin you retain are retained...The apostles were the 1st priests...Giving them the authority to forgive and retain....Whatever you bind on earth/will be bound in heaven..If JESUS didnt want priests why did He make the apostles priests at the last supper/in the breaking of the bread...Then giving the church the authority He did....What you are saying is nonsense....The HOLY SPIRIT TOLD THEM....❤❤❤
Old testament had priests and a temple , whereas the new testament has no physical temple and no need of priests as God now indwells the believer. Eph 2:19-22 Jesus is our high priest ,
@@brattyyoung1917 Except the priests and the temple were done away with when Jesus did the ultimate sacrifice Once and for ALL. No roman Catholic priest can forgive sins so why would you confess your sins to a priest when we can go directly to God?
Excellent explanatiion
Very good. For non-Catholics, this is a very clear and easy way of understanding the meaning and reason for Confession.
Thank you.
Confession is liberating. I recommend it.
Amen!!
So many so-called Christian's will deny this. "Keep sinning and sin well."
