Dude this is great. Third grade teacher here. I have about a fourth of my class coming in as struggling readers. This is going to help me categorize my reading groups accordingly and hopefully gradually progress . Appreciate the help.
I just want to say you are the best of the other side I've been watching it's not really the good and I just want to say thank you so much and I've been struggling with reading I do get help sometimes but you are helping me all right well I only want some of your videos today I didn't even know about you I thought you just make short videos and everything but you are the best I want to say thank you ❤❤❤😊😃😃
Do you have a video where I can re-teach my 5th grade child phonics. Pandemic really affected her moving forward and when completing state testing she continues to score as a second grader and she is in 5th grade
The same steps work for older children- its about finding where they are missing skills and addressing them from there. If you want more support check out my free workshop! www.toddlersread.com/free-workshop
So before I found your IG page, my 4 year old knew his letter sounds and i had just started trying to have him blend two letter words visually. Then I watched your free videos so I started I’ve been trying to do it orally. It’s been a few months now and I feel like we aren’t making much improvement. I’ve tried continuous sound for the beginning letter and a bunch of other techniques I’ve seen online. I’m not sure if there’s something I’m still doing wrong or if I just need to keep going. Is there a point to where a lot of time has gone by and we are still in the same spot? I hope that made sense 🥴
Hey Sarah! Yes so this does happen sometimes. Usually, there's a specific reason why it happens though and it's often something really small that we're doing (or not doing) when we're teaching them that we're just not aware is holding them back. It's kind of hard to explain without a video but I have parents who are taking my course send me their practice videos when this happens so I can watch it for them to find that "small thing" that's going on to prevent the child from understanding. I know that's not super helpful for you if you're not taking the courses, but hopefully it's encouraging for you that you're not alone and there likely is something that you can be doing to help them.

Can you say what is the difference between y and i sound
It works better without the pause in between
I agree
I agree
Yes idk why most reading programs teach pauses between letter sounds in the blending procedure.
