I never learned how to read. Not from school or from home. Both my mom and dad are illiterate. When I was younger I was constantly sick and I wasn’t going to school that often. And when I came to the US, I was left behind in school. I think thats my fault because I never said anything about it. Even till this day; I still struggle with reading. I have a 5 year old and I’m trying to help him but it’s difficult at times. But he does know his alphabet and the sounds that each letters make. Now I just have to figure out how to go from there. FYI…I love reading even though I think I’m not good at it. Other people think I’m a good reader. Finding this channel is teaching me how to help my little guy. I don’t want him to be left behind in school or feel insecure when it comes to reading. I want him to fall in love with books. So thank you so much for what you’re doing and teaching.
Awhh, this left a tear in my eye... You are so strong, don't ever give up!! Just from this one internet comment I can tell that you are trying your best as a parent and that is really all we can do. Look at how far you have come in just one generation. Keep on giving your kiddo as much love, wisdom and education that you can and grow with them. You are doing great, keep it up :)
I relate to this, I started reading late in School. My secret was the news channel, I would watch how news anchors talk and then read my books out loud like Im a news Anchor on TV like a news anchor simulator or just playing pretend LOL, I became a better reader and speaker by Sophomore Year High School.
Absolutely!!!! If you do what he says, your child will definitely learn how to read at an early age. Have a patience you will be amazed!!! Great video and thank you for sharing!!!

With your help our 3 year old knows all of his letters & is starting to blend! We loved the course & the quality of your flashcards are fabulous. We have to hide your flashcards or my son will take them all out & start carrying them through the house saying "Mmmm Monster Truck!..." You have been such a blessing to us & we have never even met 💖
I'm not a parent but I am teaching my 3 year old sister who i saw a lot of potential in but I thought she would be too young. This taught me otherwise. Thankyou:)
I've been following your TH-cam and just did a lesson with my 5 year old grandson who has been struggling with sight reading..OMG ❤ this is revolutionary! He easily got the concept of sound and is sounding the 3 lettered words and in two lessons. I could cry. I still have to say the word but he's got the concept. Onwards ad upwards from here. THANK YOU xx
Yes I did this. I started 5 weeks ago teaching my just turned 4 year old letter sounds and now he is reading your decodable books. In 5 weeks! We made phonics completely play based; play doh letter cookie cutters, “word building cars” using duplo blocks that I’ve written letters and digraphs on, and car bases. We would make both real and nonsense words (and laugh!) and sound them out. We also used flash cards and hand motions/gestures for letter sounds. And boy does he love to run so we also did some physical components to letter sounds learning as well.
Now I regret procrastinating learning how to do this for my kids sake. I had watched tutorials years ago that were extreme and long and scared me off. However, my eldest is struggling at school so I've put it on my bucket list to learn this new skill. I love how you have a set step by step process. Thank you!

So a question about the research on reading.. have they ever done tests to see if teaching the capital letter and the lowercase letter together (like on your flashcards) is better than teaching just CAPITALS or just lowercase? I feel like kids are so literal they may think you need both letters to make the sound
I was once to asking this question and I found my answer and for me it was yes it is or was confusing for my tots Aka little people. I have a niece who really loves pirates and stuff so I got toy treasure chests of Amazon and made game out of it each chest needs a password to open. Started out as saying the sounds of the letters, and she would get a small prize out of the chest for getting it right. She found it fun.

Do they have letter recognition first?
(My grandson is learning letters right now so I’m concerned about confusing the sound the the letter.)
Learning sounds first is better, because transitioning from letters to sound makes the process a little complicated for them....
They don’t, I like to focus on sounds first but if they know a few names it won’t hurt.
Recognition, before sound not necessary. They can be done together but not necessary.
However, do teach them the lower case letters before capitals.
Thank you very much for the great tips.
Thank you so much, I liked how you gave this information so credibly.
You're welcome!

Any suggestions on where to start?
This is a great topic for a video *wink wink*
I have a niece who really loves pirates and stuff so I got toy treasure chests of Amazon and made game out of it each chest needs a password to open. Started out as saying the sounds of the letters, and she would get a small prize out of the chest for getting it right. She found it fun.

Help pleaseeeee 🙏🏻 my daughter just turned 4 and I made the mistake of letting her learn letter names first… how can I help her forget about their names and focus on their sounds? She’s also having so much trouble learning to blend. She’s a SUPER smart kid so I feel like the problem is on my end?? Any help or a direction you could point me in would be amazing. I will definitely be focusing on sounds first with my son (15m) as he gets older. Love your videos, super helpful! Thank you!! - signed a mom just trying to do better for her kids
