- I made this film for you because either you were not there or you want to remember moments from being out there. We were downtown in the 7th ward on A.P. Tureaud Blvd, in case you want to meet us next year for Mardi Gras.
I love Mardi Gras Day, you wake up to their chants in the streets, I wish I lived in NOLA
You have a month to get a visit together...
I just came back from NOLA last week and went to the Mardi Gras museum and it is in fact the best history lesson you will get. My sons 17 and 13 was so intrigued, my oldest said mom that don't teach us things like this in school. So it was nice to go down and learn the meaning behind Mardi gras and to see all of the beautiful Indian suits hanging. After watching the Treme i just fell in love with New Orleans culture .
When are you coming back?
These suits need to go in a museum. They are so amazing.
Some are in the museum in NOLA at this mardi gra museum off bourbon street
Not in “a” museum but “Our gallery.” Eye say that to say is the pale face always take our artifacts and claim them as his own. Not this time.
And they do sometimes… Let’s see if we can get a few in a museum near you.

I never knew of this until i watched HBO series Treme....i think it is fascinating and beautiful the workmanship and pride i love it. Maybe one day i make it there to see. Stay healthy!

One of the best videos I’ve seen..I’m finally making it for Mardi Gras day this year and I’m going to try my damndest to see some masking Indians. I’ve only ever seen suits at the backstreet museum, never actually worn by anyone or experienced this seriously beautiful tradition.

Most people outside of New Orleans think Mardi Gras is Bourbon street. Mardi Gras is culture and history. The only day I can say to a man “You look real pretty”!

I was praying that violence wouldn’t end such a spiritual event. Squash it by chants and dancing it’s to many kids out learning about their culture & history for this occasion to become a memory of terror instead the memories to come to share for generations to come this is why THE BIG CHEIF is called THE BIG CHEIF for a reason❣️
