The city and state of Louisiana should fund his beads and pay him to make costumes--they are a national treasure. Create artists' grants and funding for him to continue this amazing tradition.

The subtitles say, "How we gonna make the soup?" He's not talking about soup. He's talking about the SUIT--the Mardi Gras costume it takes all year to make.

Thank you for sharing. There is so much about our history that we have been lied to about. Carrying on the real story and tradition is necessary for future generations, which is the fear of some people. Thank you for spotlighting reality and history at the same time.

Gentleman is a brilliant folk artist with all the attributes of the honest man on a path of devotion to his craft. He can even sing, the total package of realness.
I would expect some NYC art sharks seeking decorations for summer cocktail parties at beach houses in the Hamptons are about to swoop down on this cat and his peers, pay him to find the good stuff available, and interior decorators for billionaire's row will be stomping on each other's insteps to get to the front of the line to buy. How that wrecks the authenticity time will tell, but until it does this is a folk art gold mine.

i think that will ruin the whole secrecy thing because tbh i didnt know they dress up like this in new orleans. i know they wear feathers and stuff but i didnt know that most of the designs are like a bizarre form of what native americans wore.
