    The wrist watch on the wall is the exact hour minute and second Neil Armstrong landed on the moon. Went to Space Camp and Aviation Challenge 6 times when I was younger. Holds a special place in my heart

    Glad you visited us! Between April and November, on Thursday evenings, they have a Biergarten with food, drink, and live swing music under the "real" Saturn V (the one inside). Its a lot of fun, and dog friendly even! I will always remember dining under the Moon rocket while listening to the band play "Fly Me to the Moon" :-)

    Great stuff as usual, Jacob. By the way, the "V" in Saturn V is a roman numeral, so it's actually pronounced "Saturn Five." The last Saturn V launch was in 1973 (May 14) when it carried Skylab into orbit. The third Apollo 11 astronaut was Michael Collins, the guy who remained in the Command Module in orbit while Armstrong and Aldrin actually landed on the Moon.

      Also the Saturn Five did not put the ISS in orbit. It was built by the space shuttles.

    • @DGaryGrady
      @DGaryGrady 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Wolfie54545 Quite correct! But Skylab, an earlier single-module space station, was launched by the last flight of a Saturn V. There was a second Skylab that was never launched and can be seen at the Air and Space Museum in Washington. The Space Shuttle didn't enter service until 1981, and construction of the ISS in orbit began in 1998.

    • @Wolfie54545

      Yes I am aware of Skylab. But he said the ISS.
      Also I am obsessed with space shuttles. You don’t have to explain to me. I already know.

    I personally know one of the men who helped build the space buggy, his name is Sumner Stewart Loomis and he designed the buggy wheels. The other members of the team said they wouldn’t work so he went home worked all night mounted them on his bike and rode to NASA and showed them that they would work🤓! So they put them on the moon buggy. This man, Mr. Loomis, was building radios out of the junk from the local radio station where his dad worked and built a rocked for good bike so he could race cars. All before he was a teenager! He invented many more things and is now in his 90's and writing a book.😊 thank you for the video! I've been past but wasn't able to stop but one day we'll go there!

We don’t go here, I live 15 minutes from the guntersville lake which is on a list of best lakes, amazing spot and we don’t go much around here and everyone complains there’s nothing to do here.

    @ around 10:55 The Shuttle orbiter is not a real one. Pathfinder as it is now called, was formerly a dimension and mass correct mockup built from steel and wood that was used to practice lifting and stacking operations in the Vehicle Assembly Building to make sure that procedures and clearances were good before risking the real orbiters themselves. It was also placed on a transport rig and moved horizontally along causeways, roads, processing facility and runways to also make sure that things were good before risking an actual spacecraft on them.
    Originally Pathfinder barely looked like an orbiter in shape and had little detail. But in the early 1980s the America-Japan Society purchased the mockup and paid Teledyne Brown to modify it extensively to look as it does today.
    That being said, the External Tank it sits on now and the SRBs are real. That tank saw use early in the Shuttle program attached to a test article orbiter aft fuselage with real engines in it and was mounted on a stand not far from where you were to make sure all the systems worked. The SRBs are leftovers from the program that were either too damaged for reuse or were donated spares. The casings of the SRBs were a leftover from an abandoned attempt to build super lightweight casings that could increase the Shuttle's payload to orbit.

    There actually is gravity in space, the reason they can float and use the upside down treadmill is because the space station is constantly falling but it's going fast enough that it will continue to circle the earth and not actually hit. It's like you're constantly falling without ever landing
