    Excellent video have watched about everyone like this on TH-cam I'd say it's THE BEST! JUST REALLY GOOD, no crappy background music no tiny words or pictures she gives an example she shows a picture she explains it and moves on absolutely hands down the best video on TH-cam about dog communication with us

    Thanks for the video, I learned a lot. I rescued a 3 year old cattle dog mix from the pound, and she exhibits many of the signs shown here. I have had her about 2 months and haven't once even raised my voice to the dog, or anything. Only spoiled the dog, and treat her with love and attention. I have given her no reason to feel stressed. I can only assume she was previously abused, and I will let her trust take as long as she needs. I could never give up on a dog, or return it to the pound. Friendship and trust takes time.

      My beagle/cattle dog cross does the moon crested eyes thing quite often, even when he's not guarding anything.
      Cattle dogs are quite territorial, though, so YMMV. Louie is very protective of me and the cats. I hope your pup is doing well!

    I think it's amazing how dogs react so differently to us & being an empath lets me decode pets behavior. This video is amazing & spot on.

    very informative! thank you. I find it a bit confusing when a dog shows some of these signs and then his/her tail is wagging.

      Usually that's "I REEEEAAALLLLYY don't want to upset you but I'm uncomfortable and would like space". Giving the dog space to come to you, and making sure you don't appear threatening (bend down, turn sideways etc.) is usually all you need to do !

      Aslinur YALINKILIC OZTURK tails wags don't inherently mean happy, a dog will wag their tail when excited, this could mean either good or bad.

    I hear what you're saying. did you hear the new study that says we are stressing our dogs out by holding them?

    • @1Klooch
      @1Klooch 8 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I think it's not so much the holding, but the hugging and feeling of being 'caught'. Dogs crave contact with their guardians, but on their terms.

    It's so hard to distinguish between *yawns* "I'm tired" or "I'm stressed" and *shows tummy* "Plz don't hurt me" or "I'm a tummy rub junkie." Is distinguishing it based on the environment?

    I actually knew most of this just from personal experience. My dogs both do the moon-crested eyes thing when they've done something they know they shouldn't. In fact, it's usually how I know they've done something.

    Seems like everything a dog does pretty much is show that they’re stressed based on this video. But that’s what bothers me about stuff like this, a lot of these things can also mean they’re happy about something?

  • @FrancesBaconandEggs

    Great video, thanks. Do these always mean that the dog is definitely stressed or scared? Sometimes when I come in the house and see my sister's dog, she flips onto her back and spreads her legs right away, but I think it's because she wants me to scratch her belly. Have I been misreading her???

    • @creedonscollege3320
      @creedonscollege3320 8 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      If her tail is outward (aka brushing against the floor) she's looking for cuddles, if she has it tucked up over her belly, she may be overwhelmed.
      As with all behaviour, it's fluid, so you need to look at the dog as a whole, and, most importantly, is the dog choosing to approach, or keeping it's distance. That will tell you a lot about what you need to know.

    so pretty much everything a dog does is an indication of stress

    • @creedonsdogcare6564
      @creedonsdogcare6564  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It depends on the context. If they do the behaviour out of context then it's often an indicator of stress.
      you will normally see several signs together, not just one in isolation.
