  • I recently speed-painted some Armageddon Steel Legion troopers using the Death Korps of Krieg models from Kill Team: Octarius. They'll actually see their first action on the table in Five Parsecs From Home. I was able to paint up half a dozen troops in about two hours.

If you want to go down the Armageddon route then I would use the ramjuager from wargame Atlantic. I use them myself.

I've seen those, and they do look good. I happened to have the DKoK models on hand thanks to a sweet second-hand deal.

Interesting scheme, they turned out great! I'm gunna need scheme ideas, I'm planning on painting my pile of shame for a video. This one will be great for some of my more grunt like models.

Amazing results for only a few hours! I’m getting a 3D printed Valour Korps kill team together for a friend and this looks like a great way to get them speedpainted!

They look great, impressive results for a speed paint.
a fast brush with white and one pass with some red ink from an air brush on the lasgun coils and eye lenses would give some cool contrast and give you a point of pop, to contrast with the drab camouflage. May defeat the idea of speed painting when adding those extra steps though. Cheers!

You're right, and I have considered revisiting them with some neon red to give a pop of color. I'll almost certainly do that on the rest when I get to them as well.

I 'Speed painted" 40 necron warriors. i did one step a day which took 3-4 hours and holy cow it was draining.

Oof. I've increasingly found painting for army scale games exhausting in general. Forty Necrons at once sounds rough.

Love the video great content love the washed look as well, do you have a video on painting white piece/minis or a plan to tackle a white paint project?

Thanks! I don't think I've featured much white. I tend to prefer to use off-whites. That said, it's something to put on the idea list.

I have a Kill Team Starter Set on the way, and I'm leaning toward doing the veteran guardsmen as Steel Legion, as well. It looks like you trimmed/shaved off the crest on the Krieg helmets to get the more rounded Steel Legion helmets. Any tips for getting that right?

I just used some fairly fine (probably 400 grain) sandpaper to knock the ridge off then really fine (800 ish) to smooth it out.
