Big appreciation for your vids over the years. I think the speed square one was the first one I saw years ago.... The only downside to this channel is you do not make enough videos. You are one of the best on youtube. No slick junk, just real deal work.... Thanks for sharing!
If that farmer wasn't allergic to grease, that axle would probably still have broken, but the repair would have been easier. Great job on making an excellent repair. That axle must have taken quite a hit at some point to even bend the wishbone.
I needed to move an old tie rod out to replace a bent one. I tried heat, beat on it, pipe wrench, come a long, finally I drilled and tapped it and put in a grease fitting in the tube. Pumped it full of grease still no dice. Back to the torch, it steamed and boiled and then broke loose and slid out about 6 inches all at once like a cylinder. Learn something every day.
I have a 2444 with a loader. With the bucked loaded I ran hard into the dirt pile. The non-adjustable front tube broke at the center tube. I slid the tractor on the lowered bucket to where I could work on it. I put a truck bed liner in the mud removed, had a local expert weld it, and reinstalled. The all fit like a glove. I was told by local dealer that loader was too heavy for the front axle.
It makes for a long day when your salvaging old parts Ethan but you got it done and thats what we do is get the job done. You mad a fantastic service truck out of old ketchup keep her working buddy
Just noticed the hat as you were removing the wish bone, great channel, just like yours. No matter how good they make cordless impacts, they’ll give up on you where they like, unlike trusty old air, still the best IMO. Great to see you again, and thanks for taking us along on the job. Stay safe out there!
I have seen those axles sleeved with very thick wall tubing and a truss added underneath. You trim some off the smaller telescoping part (most are fixed anyway) and sleeve it. Weld everything up and Bobs your uncle and it will last forever. My neighbor did a 706 axle that had broken that way and it was still good till he sold the tractor. Probably 10 years or so.
i was a farmall dealer mechanic in 74-76 we had a 806 do the same thing but there was a recall on the early 806. some of them came out with a 706 front end. i had to replace the center tube of the axle only.. when installing a heavy duty front loader there were re enforcing pipes that slid inside the front tube. to break the adjustable axles ends loose the shop had a porta power that i loosened one end and soaked it with PB Blaster and pushed it apart to the next bolt hole then went to the other side once they started moving they came apart easy.. the axle you broke was an early model that had the other problem of shearing the axle key on the spindle assembly..
Did you think about just pulling the center section out by loosening the row width adjustment collars and taking the entire wheel mount assemblies from each side and putting them onto the good one?
That's exactly what I was thinking. The width setting is also relevant to the toe-out that resulted. It looks like the "good" axle was set at least one hole wider than the broken one, so the tie rods would need to be lengthened to suit or the width adjusted narrower.
I think the problem with the row crop axles is first they are very thin metal and it’s in two pieces, so there for it rusts faster and since they’re two pieces the weight is pushing down on were the two pieces connect also making it possible to break. That’s why if I had a row crop 806 I’d put a fixed axle on it, thicker metal and the weight is pushing mostly on the center of the axle. But keep in mind this is very rare to happen unless it’s happened before and has been fixed (welded) so don’t go thinking, “oh farmall tractors are junk” their not, their great tractors 🙂
I was surprised to see the night footage thinking this is taking a long time and your hours are adding up. Then the hardware being frozen I guessed adjusting axle width wasn’t a high priority before shouldn’t be now.
@@FrancisoDoncona that’s all right just about everything was fighting me every inch. My bad thing was, I had to come back the next week put a water pump on a new tire rod ends, and one of his rear wheels was slipping off the axle. I had to tighten the wedges up. I’m sure I’ll have to do something else to do it bad things come with all of it lol.
I would replace the axle if I had one ..If not i would try to fix the broken one and give it some braces or some thing to make it stronger With the wheels toed out that far would be hard on the axle hitting big ruts or a ditch
Once they break, they're done for, they'll never hold the weight and abuse they take just from normal operation. Hence why that first axle should've been replaced the first time instead of trying to repair.
These 806 axles are known for being "fragile" in that they don't take much abuse beyond standard use. My uncle caught a drain tile plowing, hit the clutch a little too fast when the front end came up & snap! They built a heavier axle and put it on bigger rubber on all 4 corners at the same time.
Hay bailI got stuck on the spear on the back of the tractor he was trying to get it off on a slope and I assume they pop the clutch a little bit and the tractor popped a wheelie and it landed hard.
Instead of taking out the spindles try sliding out the front spindles out of the main housing and slide in the other then you won't have to take the spindles out..
from the looks of things you will working bon this tractor again soon. don't think it gets any maintenance from the owner. i don't get why the neglect.
I will have to say that those aren’t true Jesus nuts. It may hurt some if they come loose. But, you will definitely survive. A true Jesus but is on the mast of a rotorcraft. Let it come off during flight, and you will meet Jesus.
You got two big boats on one side you got two big boats on the other side taking four boats out and pulled a whole arm out tell my grandpa had a lot at and hit cat breaking and I what we done just changing them arms out

Love working on older tractors, the basic engineering is awesome
Great to know someone who does the repairs the proper way and not bodge it just to make a video well done 🇮🇪
Thats some pure American ingenuity, right there young man. Great job! The right intelligence along with the right tools make a great team.
Worked a minor miracle on that old girl. The crane sure comes in handy. Can’t wait to get mine working.

Poor old 806. We had one on the dairy when I grew up. We never had this problem. Cool video! Looks like it was a big job.
very happy to see you .... verry good job ; Alban
Awesome repair. Thanks for bringing us along. 💪👍🏼

When you said fix it again I thought you had a FIAT tractor. I thought you are right about a FIAT . FIX IT AGAIN TODAY.
One of my favorite channels. God bless you and your family.✝
Glad to see you back.. I use to run a 806 tractor on a 5k ranch in Texas.

Your summary cracked me up! Yep, at least it has a front end again. :)
Отличная работа!👍👍👍👍👍
Теперь трактор получит вторую жизнь!
Good work! You have gold hands👏👏👏👏👏👏
Weld it completely ..good job for this tractor
The tired old girl lives on ❤👍🏴

I’m not 100% sure but I think the row adjustment of the axle was welded together so you couldn’t move them.
@@EEJester1586 Yeah, that would put a crimp in your plan for sure.
Great job brother looks like you been around them tractors 🚜 for a minute 👍
The old Inter has taken a knee!
Nice Job, Been there and you just gotta do what you gotta do.
love your videos..could I come tour ypur place sometime?..i travel with work often and just curious

How did this compare to just sleeve it and weld it up?
I’m going to repair the other axle that’s what I wanted to do to begin with but the customer wanted to put another axle under it.

You can slide each side in make it match old axle width the broken one is narrow tracking
Do I have your chronolog around it and tighten it up and push it up in there all you got to do
I missed how you dealt with the center steering arm. Does the axle need to be down before the center steering arm is changed?
I didn’t have to change the center arm to swap the axle but to answer your question, the axle does have to be off in order to replace it.
@ thank you!

good job sir, I know its all worn out but the 806 was a damn good tractor and I bet that has paid for itself many times over. good job
Junk
👍👍👍 Thank you 👏👏
How the hell did it split like that
Too many wheelies. Lol
@@EEJester1586 i believe that or somebody said HOLD MY BEER AND WATCH THIS Shit

The 806 had that awful front end, I can't recall the brand of replacement whole front end, it was foster maybe
How did it break
Hay bailI got stuck on the spear on the back of the tractor he was trying to get it off on a slope and I assume they pop the clutch a little bit and the tractor popped a wheelie and it landed hard.
Farmer really took care of that 806. 😖 What a shame!
With that camber, you should name it the "GHETTO TRACTOR."
I hope all is OK with you and your family
Use heat and quench on the tie rods then you can fix it
👍🏼🍻
Wouldn’t it have been much faster and easier, to weld it and reinforce it like the “new” one?
Instead of taking out the spindles try sliding out the front spindles out of the main housing and slide in the other then you won't have to take the spindles out..

To me it looks like it's off one spline on the right side

"The wishbone is missing it's knob." Sounds bad.
If you’re not cursing, you’re not fixing farm equipment sometimes!
oh no you put the bolt on the pin for the axle back in backwards its gonna snap first time the owner almost flips it again lol
Right there on each side where your rope at it would have been better on you to change them out Charles it would have been easier at work
At least it didn't go back into oil pan
You got two big boats on one side you got two big boats on the other side taking four boats out and pulled a whole arm out tell my grandpa had a lot at and hit cat breaking and I what we done just changing them arms out

CEE, nice.
Some heat and a BFH can do wonders 😅
Does your rate go up or stay the same when you speed up the video?
Jk lol
Actually, that design was done for a reason.
Sleeve axle tube.
Rernt??. That is a Texas only word. Lol
The rest of the English speaking world says “ruined”.
I guess folks that don’t live in Texas need to learn the Texas language as we Texans are forced to hear the Northern YOUS GUYS.
@@doughboy1966 I guess I struck a nerve.
Looks like it's been abused..
Is it me or is that not a very good design ?
It's a 60 year old tractor.
Cannot watch because of background noise.
Sorry about that it comes with the territory. My truck has a pretty annoying exhaust rattle I’ve been meaning to fix.
Background noise? Sensitive to background noise?
Can you pressure wash the tractor 🚜 one day soon
Why not reforce it before installing if not thers going to be the third time repair this.
It’s operator error you can’t fix people.
this guy thinks he’s an expert not
Hahahahaha working on a pile of shit that’s considered an expert?
