Best Seafood Dishes In Bengaluru, Coastal Restaurant At The Gateway Hotel Bengaluru, Top Rated Seafood Dishes at Karavalli. Aquafest
In nearly three decades of its existence, Karavalli at The Gateway Hotel Bengaluru has distinguished itself as an establishment that serves the country's finest South West Coastal cuisine. This has made the speciality fine dining restaurant an absolute must-visit in the city with patrons highly recommending a meal here.
What patrons also await is a much loved, annual seafood festival that the restaurant has been hosting since its existence.
In this episode of Gourmet On The Road, Food Lovers’ Editor, Kripal Amanna visits Karavalli to savour all the dishes on offer as part of this very special Aquafest menu. He meets with Executive Chef of The Gateway Hotel, Naren Thimmaiah to understand what makes this festival as popular. He then sits down to enjoy a whopping 14-dish meal.
    BABY LOBSTER JIREM MIREM
chunky baby lobster meat marinated and cooked in a cumin (jirem) and fresh pepper (mirem) masala. you taste the byadgi chilli as opposed to the pepper in this warming masala.
    rs 1850. (25.80 usd)
    9/10
    GOAN OCTOPUS CHILLI FRY
i love the sweetness of the tomato in this preparation, the octopus however, has a bite that borders on being chewy. the flavours of this dish is one you would enjoy in a shack somewhere on the beaches of goa.
    rs 1200. (16.75 usd)
    7/10
    KOONDAL PORICHATU
the batter-fried masala coated squid is cooked to springy perfection and the masala has penetrated all the way through. the fresh acidity of a squeeze of lime cradles that gentle spicing of the squid. this is the sort of dish that would make for a very happy bar snack.
    rs 1200. (16.75 usd)
    9/10
    WHOLE SILVER POMFRET RECHEADO
this dish of whole fried silver pomfret is a taste of goa! liberally coated in the sweet, tart and hot goan recheado masala, both inside and out, you taste notes of the goan palm vinegar and the aggressive punch of chilli as you devour the dish.
    rs 1200. (16.75 usd)
    8.5/10
    TIGER PRAWN MALABAR STYLE
a signature dish at karavalli i keep returning for! these meaty tiger prawns are first fried to perfect scrumptiousness and then tossed in a vivacious masala of shallots, tomatoes and pepper.
    rs 1800. (25.10 usd)
    10/10
    SEA CRAB GHEE ROAST
these meaty sea crabs, cooked in a ghee roast masala are divine! i love the mild sweetness of that crab meat (tastes just like the ocean!). the butteriness of that well rounded masala embraces the natural flavours of the crab.
    rs 1450. (20.20 usd)
    9/10
    KOLI BARTHAD
a speciality here on the menu, this is a dish that hails from coorg. pieces of chicken are pan fried in a bunch of spices and kachampuli. the deeply roasted spices that have melded together as one.
    rs 995. (13.88 usd)
    8.5/10
    MUTTON STEW
this is a textbook syrian christian stew with the mellow coconut base carrying just the subtlest hint of spicing. the meat is soft, you taste its nourishment in every strand.
    rs 1150. (16.05 usd)
    10/10
    PRAWN CALDEEN
this goan-style curry is a pleasant melange of flavours. you taste the freshness of the coriander, the spice of the green chilli, raspy bite of the ginger and the creaminess of the coconut in the sauce. the prawns are juicy having absorbed all that goodness.
    rs 1450. (20.20 usd)
    9/10
    ALAPPUZHA MEEN CURRY
the deep, spice notes in this alleppey fish curry catches hold of your palate from the first bite. the seer, a meaty fish, is the right medium to convey and carry these bold flavours of coconut, ginger and raw mango.
    rs 1150. (16.05 usd)
    9.5/10
    DODOL
my favourite way to end a meal at karavalli is with the dodol, a goan dessert made with rice flour that has been well roasted with palm jaggery and loads of butter! it is rich and dark, each bite is lush, buttery yet dry.
    rs 475. (6.60 usd)
    9/10
    KASHI HALWA
the ghee glistens in this translucent kashi halwa. the ash gourd is flavoured with saffron, you also sense a hint of acidity in this dessert.
    rs 475. (6.60 usd)

Mahadevi Sutar you are not matured enough to understand what Rajath Gowda really meant is, it’s not worth spending saved money on a restaurant that costs easily 3-4K for a single person to have a good full meal.
If you think rajath Gowda is unable to earn the money to have food in this restaurant then you must be a dumb as no one in this world.

Yes, Karavalli is an expensive place to dine in, but it's one of those delightful experiences that you look forward to after working hard, or saving up for a while, just like you would for a travel adventure. A meal here is one of those luxuries in life which are actually worth it. If you want to celebrate a really special occasion, something that you'd like to remember for a long time, this is it. The ambiance - both inside and outside - truly transport you to a different world, and as for the food, well, it's quite simply some of the tastiest fare you can eat in India.

Its taste is more important than the price of food. Only those who find happiness by providing tongue tips are true eaters.
Delicacies at its peak. If I am lucky enough to have such delicious food, I will definitely come to Bangalore to dine in this hotel restaurant.
Just to eat, we do not eat such food everyday.

Again an awesome episode 👌.. u have great sense of vocabulary.. my heart melted when I heard the word 'ghashi' and 'barani'.. aaaww that was soothing to hear.. great picturization, nice background music, colorful food, on the bang presentation, that popy smile when the food goes into ur mouth 😂, the roar we hear when u pronounce "masala" and many more makes this channel too special.. keep up the good work.. more love to gourmet on the road. ♥️.. This time ur hat couldn't be accommodated on that busy fat foodie table. 😍

I order Goan food from Reagan’s and their prices are SO MUCH cheaper and they’re authentic too..as a Goan myself I can just see the food and tell whether it’s ACTUALLY Goan or not and trust me so far nothing from this place that was Goan really looked right as a regular customer of Reagan’s I suggest you all to try them out because it’s ACTUALLY authentic and you get your money’s worth

U could eat almost at par level food at Mangalore kitchen , HSR or royal garden ,bhadrappa layout Hebbal ...
These both are really bomb for reasonable price ...
I think kripal should also promote resteraunts which are under rated may be due to lack of publicity or location of place affecting and make it a series as well ...this could also be a slight subtle version of kitchen nightmares
