That's fold of seat BOTTOM. Not a seat back.
That is lifting up the seat bottom, not folding down the seat back.

My 2004 fold down for a flatstorage space. My entire rear seat area is full of tools. This new system that folds up, sucks by comparison.

So, if you get into an accident and the truck rolls, everything in the storage compartment will be like flying shrapnel, way to go gmc
If you’re rolling hard enough to throw shit from under seat storage you got bigger problems than shrapnel
