Some really nice bream there. I went to Kogarah Bay and Picnic Point on the weekend and not even a touch. Headed back to the mangroves and picked up 1st fish on the Zman 2.5 inch grub. You just need to keep at it. I may go for a bigger lure as the Flathead just swallow that grub.
Thanks Mal! Nice one mate. That's the risk with the smaller lures. I often find the leader a bit chaffed but it usually ends up on the outside of the fish's mouth fortunately. Longer and larger lures are definitely the better choice when targeting flathead. I like big paddletails 👍
Wishing you a safe and joyous Christmas all the best mate thanks for all your videos that kept everyone entertained this year much appreciated from all of us 👍👍🎣🎣
Thank you very much Warren! I greatly appreciate your and everyone else's continued support. It was my pleasure and I hope rhat you, your family and everyone else has a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! 🙏🙏🙏
Hey James, yes it makes a difference sometimes. I use it when the fish are short-striking and nipping at the tail. It encourages them to commit a bit more
Nice session Shroom. I've been to the Georges three times this year for one bream. Gotta try further up the river. Got rained off Sylvania Waters before I had much time.
Hey Shroom! Awesome stuff mate. I have been trying to do some lure fishing however I have had zero success whatsoever, not a single fish on lures yet. I’ve been out for 12 hours each day for the past 3 days and just can’t seem to land anything on lures, but as soon as I use bait I start landing. I am targeting bream and have bought some Atomic Crankbaits and Zman grubs, 1/16th jig heads. I try to slow roll them with lots of pauses, along man made structures and under shade. I feel like I’m missing something or not doing something right. any advice would be greatly appreciated!!! I fish the George’s river and bays around the Sutherland shire area. Thankyou for all that you do for the fishing community!!!
Keep up the use of those lures you will catch a fish shortly Thomas. Start pausing the Zman for a few seconds between each hop even when resting on the seafloor. Try to wind the Atomics in areas where they will reach the bottom and have subtle contact
Hey Shroom awesome Bream Fishing video this video had reminded me of the time last year in 2019 when I had caught my Personal Best Yellow Fin Bream going 28cm on 6lb mono line on a 2-4kg rod. Which recently made me think that the lighter the Rod the bigger the bites you get in my opinion which was why I was wondering what Fishing setup would you recommend for Bream Fishing with soft plastics around the Marinas and Harbours Shroom ?
Awesome story William! The nostalgia. If you are still casting for distance, a 2-4kg rod (bit more backbone than 1-3kg) and 7' is the perfect alrounder. If you are using it mostly around marinas, tea bagging or casting short distances but need to extract fish from tight quarters a 2-4kg may not be enough and possibly a 2-5kg might be better.
Haha thanks Michael! Only on Tuesdays when two days out from rain. Haha more seriously, rarely for light lures. I did use a clip for a big lure in the recent Aleader video however. I use clips for my squid fishing however as I haven't found it impacts on catch rates. 😁😇
@@MJermMer Yep, I think it has a noticeable effect for light lure fishing. It's not black and white where it prevents catching fish but I think it's just weights its differently, may cause some metal on metal noise and it's jarring to the entire appearance of the rig. I tie it hard up with a uniknot most of the time. For other instances I tie a loop knot.
😱😱😱😱😱 the fish from the title pic of ur vid looks like a carp so i rub my eyes and look closer its a whopper bream.😂😂😂😂 btw at the entrance going 4 a flick with the atomic hardz ghost gill brown colour🤙🤙🤙🤙🤙
Haha thank you Omar! Make sure you only rub your eyes once, second time it might become smaller 🤣. Yeah nice one! That's one of my favourite lures in my favourite colour 😀
Hey shroom Great video, just got a new rod and reel, what line to you recommend me getting and what Lb to get if i'm targeting bream, flathead and whiting? also what scent do you use?
Hey Vincenzo. If you are buying premium braid especially Japanese brands, then look for the PE rating to be 0.6 or 0.8PE. They generally are rated at 10-14lb. For those that don't have a PE rating, especially cheaper braids/American etc., then look for 6lb. They will all break well over 6lb . For scent, I use Squidgies S Factor.
Hey man I’ve just started lure fishing and I’m using a 17 pound line in a kind of clear colour can I tie my jighead straight to that and use it? If not what do you recommend
17lb mono/fluoro is not ideal but usable in a pinch with heavier lure presentations. You would be restricted to throwing from 3/8oz and heavier but it's possible. I recommend converting to braid and using mono/fluoro as the leader component instead. If you want to chase bream, whiting and flathead etc., then about a 6lb/0.6PE braid is perfect. For medium set-ups (flathead and up) then you can step that up to over 10lb, say 10-20lb /0.8-1.2PE
