When I've heard the clip of Big Bank (which is one of my faves on the album) though, I was finally interested... and I've been so frustrated for not digging into Big KRIT's stuff until now. Aesop Rock insanely underrated in general aside from his pre None Shall Pass/Skelethon work. I'm still shocked that he reviews Aesop's albums given how few people actually talk about him. Aside from like 2 songs though, Impossible Kid is perfect.

Yeah, it’s not hip-hop, people put artists in the box of one genre a lot so even if they make something outside of that genre it gets wrongly put into that box. For example, Kanye with 808s, which is almost all singing, being called hip-hop.
The boldest take I’ve ever seen was Mac Miller’s swimming and as a PGH native it hit me right in the chest. And that camp judgement, man he’s either spot on or straight off.
This is coming from someone who is outside of the mainstream rap circles and genuinely has a hard time listening to a lot of rap. Most of Anthony’s favourite rap albums I really enjoy as a non rap fan, Kendrick is excellent, clipping. Are phenomenal, death grips and Danny Brown are stellar and so different to everything else, Kanye is on another level and Denzel is insane too. The only rapper I enjoy that Anthony doesn’t is Childish Gambino but that being said Camp is not a particularly good record. Anthony likes when things sound different, as a reviewer he listens to soooo much music that when a Danny Brown comes along then it really takes you by surprise. That’s how I see it anyway.
@@ihychristian Well i don’t care for it, denzels high range vocals sounds so akward and flat to me over that very simular tone production, like it’s no contrast between the beat and the vocals so there’s almost no dynamic in the song. At least to me it’s esaily the worst song on the album

I’d have accepted a 5-6 from melon for Swimming since he’s biased to really, really not like Mac Miller, but a 3 was just him being biased. To most other people it’s a solid 6-8 depending on how much you enjoy Mac’s music.

Honestly, I'm a die hard peep fan and I don't blame him for saying COWYS 1 was not good. Mainstream peep is so watered down and is no where nearly as raw emotionally as soundcloud peep. I think this is kinda due to his label wanting to make more money off of him. Peep was completely mistreated by his record label and I blame them for his death

Yeah, it’s not hip-hop, people put artists in the box of one genre a lot so even if they make something outside of that genre it gets wrongly put into that box. For example, Kanye with 808s, which is almost all singing, being called hip-hop.

This is coming from someone who is outside of the mainstream rap circles and genuinely has a hard time listening to a lot of rap. Most of Anthony’s favourite rap albums I really enjoy as a non rap fan, Kendrick is excellent, clipping. Are phenomenal, death grips and Danny Brown are stellar and so different to everything else, Kanye is on another level and Denzel is insane too. The only rapper I enjoy that Anthony doesn’t is Childish Gambino but that being said Camp is not a particularly good record. Anthony likes when things sound different, as a reviewer he listens to soooo much music that when a Danny Brown comes along then it really takes you by surprise.
That’s how I see it anyway.

@@ihychristian Well i don’t care for it, denzels high range vocals sounds so akward and flat to me over that very simular tone production, like it’s no contrast between the beat and the vocals so there’s almost no dynamic in the song. At least to me it’s esaily the worst song on the album

Put both together and it's a masterpiece.
He liked Circles a lot I think he gave it a strong 8, and he said it made swimming better but he still wasn't crazy about it

I’d have accepted a 5-6 from melon for Swimming since he’s biased to really, really not like Mac Miller, but a 3 was just him being biased. To most other people it’s a solid 6-8 depending on how much you enjoy Mac’s music.
I mean if hes biased and that causes him to dislike the album than hes going to say he disliked the album. Is he supposed to lie and say he enjoys it?

I think this is kinda due to his label wanting to make more money off of him. Peep was completely mistreated by his record label and I blame them for his death
