Marvel Comics never did it before the last 10 years or so. In fact, Joe Quesada vowed that the Ultimate universe from 2000 would NEVER cross over into the real Marvel universe, because he hated DC's multiple Earths back before 1985. Now Marvel is making all the same mistakes DC did back in the day, and copying it into the movies.
Which is another reason, it's a benefit to read comics when one is young, one's older rationalism isn't there to tell you, "this is too much," which is what a lot of older people say when they get into the Marvel universe.
@@jedijones *DC used the multiverse theory to continue writing stories about the same characters. DC has far fewer characters than Marvel. Marvel Studios appears to be using the multiverse to bring in Fantastic Four and the X-Men. One might say it's not necessary. But audiences are going to be asking where was F4 and X-Men when the Avengers were fighting Thanos.* It also doesn't cancel out every pre-MCU movie which is the only way to get Sony and Universal into the MCU.
@@jedijones Exactly. You always find that young kids who don't know any better, justify poor movie making decisions, by citing poor comic book creation decisions. Most of which (both poor comics and poor movies) have come very recently. What these naive 'fans' are stating (without realising) is that bad movies are somehow legitimised, by the fact that the comics made the same mistakes. Which of course, is nonsensical. Not that they will ever realise or admit that however.
Michael Waldron and team are doing a WONDERFUL job. This saga has three phases + one SECRET fourth phase (2026-2028, culminating with the 20th Anniversary of the MCU). The Nathaniel Richards variants ("The Dynasty of Kangs") will be resolved by the character who teams up with Strange in the third movie in this series, called "TRIUMPH AND TORMENT." That character is the greatest supervillain of them all. He will stop the Kangs and save what is left from Total Multiversal Incursion -- by creating Battleworld. Stephen Strange, for a time, will be his sheriff.
I agree, a lot of people complain that Marvel movies are to similar and follow the same formula but when they try something different people complain that its not their MCU..i mean they cant have it both ways..Other reason for many people not liking the movie is they think Wanda is a hero, that she is so great and just a mom..nah she is not a mom, she made them up and she tortured the mind of this town in Wandavision just so she could have her fantasy life...A lot of characters in these movies loose people but they dont do what Wanda does to others..
Thats why causal fans/newcomers are so important. A lot of people.dont actually know this characters all come from the same universe so a lot of people dont know that Iron Man is b tier character who essentially was turned into Spiderman levels of popularity because of Rovert Downey Jr and that the Avengers became what the Xmen always were in terms of comic popularity to the mainstream audience. Big budget movies are powerful man. Feige is a visionary for wjat he pulled off with the MCU
I liked the creepy, ominous ending, because, to buy into the idea that Wanda was corrupted by the Darkhold, and it's something you should not under any circumstances be using, than Doctor Strange should be paying some kind of terrible price for it. To do otherwise would be like "Okay, if we put on the one ring just *this one time* it'll be fine."
@@seanpease370 Yes, it was destroyed. But *_using_* the Darkhold is the issue, right? As I see it, saying he's okay now because the Darkhold was destroyed is like saying I won't die even though I drank from a bottle of poisoned lemonade, because the bottle was smashed soon afterwards. After all, I already drank the poison. Many people say Doctor Strange is basically Tony Stark, but with magic. And to an extent they are correct. Doctor Strange is always doing things that are forbidden, and just barely getting away with it. *Edit:* So, I expect the third eye is a negative to some, degree, but he'll make it work.
Don't forget Wanda has lost everything, just because she is the strongest character doesn't mean she hasn't the strongest "mind". That's maybe why she could get so easily corrupted. Just speculating tho
I agree. I was so disappointed in the Kamar Taj fight, expecting an imaginative combat with magic, but it so quickly devolved into generic fight with lightballs and shields, exactly like they do with technological weapons in the MCU.
Yeah, It's hard not to like a Sam Raimi movie. Also, if it's called The Multiverse of Madness, it should pay homage to Lovecraft and unsettle the audience, at least a little bit.
i dont know, personally, im a little disappointed just because it wasnt what i would personally have liked to see. i dont necesarily mean in terms of the story. just how it was shot/filmed and the way they showcased certain powers/fights was pretty bad in my opinion. just in general a lot of the movie felt like it belonged in those weird ass movies that no one watches. not a marvel movie. maybe thats just me but i wasnt the biggest fan and it left much to be desired for me.
@@OMFGcataFAN1 That's pretty interesting. I'm like the photo-negative of you, in terms of what i liked and didn't like about the movie! The presentation and how things were done was kinda the highlight for me (especially around the possession scene!) While the story wasn't as good as i was hoping.
I loved this movie, but sure, it ain't for everyone. Doctor Strange's comics can certainly dip a toe in the horror direction every once in a while and it was nice to see the movies dabble there, too. I actually think there's still a sense of fun to it in this movie though--sort of like the film "Hocus Pocus," but if you're not expecting it, it'll really throw you for a loop. This was from Sam Raimi, who did the Tobey Maguire Spider-Man trilogy, but before that he made a horror trilogy called "Evil Dead," so horror is in Sam's blood. If you guys didn't dig this, certainly don't watch the Evil Dead trilogy. It's way more intense lol Yeah, Fantastic Four and X-Men are from Marvel. The old movies aren't a part of the MCU (Disney didn't own the movie rights at the time) and I don't think the old movies will be brought in--bringing back Patrick Stewart as Professor X for this film was just a bit of fun. I know the idea of all this seems overwhelming, but the real MCU introduction of those two franchises will be done properly for first timers, I'm sure. Fantastic Four and X-Men are two of the very best Marvel franchises. Trust me, you'll love them when Disney gets there. Also, the woman at the end is a Doctor Strange character named Clea, a sorceress whom Strange goes on to date in the comics. Don't worry if you're confused--the next Doctor Strange film will explain who she is.
My headcanon is that 868 universe is the "Fox" Universe, which is why Reed Richards and Charles Xavier show up in it and haven't appeared in any 616 movies (yet).
I think this Halloween someone might need to watch the Evil Dead and Army of Darkness movies. ^_^ Those and the Toby Maguire Spider-Man movies were directed by the same director, Sam Raimi. He's primarily known for his horror movies, which often have a distinct flavor of humor or the absurd. One's ability to enjoy the tone of this film would definitely be enhanced by knowing and enjoying his previous works.
Quite a lot of this movie's creepy moments were taken right from Evil Dead. Yes, Cassie should totally watch Evil Dead and Army of Darkness, although I think she'll key in on the horror more than the humor (at least in Evil Dead).
I'm grateful that Disney allowed Sam Raimi to shoot it this way and I hope that with other brands he'll be brave enough to let the directors have more freedom.
I mean i agree and although a lot of people moaned about this movie it still more money then any MCU movie since Endgame (other then Spidey No Way Home but that was like an Avenger movie)
9:41 Yes. I know the movie vaguely explained. However, in Agents of Shield, Whoever reads the Darkhold, even glance at the pages can be corrupted by it. An android read the Darkhold in the series and had a desire to become a living being and done some terrible things to people
This is one of those films that plays substantially better once you check your expectations at the door and know who Sam Raimi is and his approach to film. As a horror fan, a comic reader, and a Sam Raimi fan, this was top tier for me. Context is key.
The way you two turned and looked at each other after the ”It's over!” was ABSOLUTELY PRICELESS!!!!!! It made me laugh so hard!! You two should watch every movie together. Amazing duo!
If you go into a movie called: Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and come out of it saying ‘that was too weird’ I’m sorry, but you were warned!!
You can definitely tell this was a Sam Raimi movie. He directed the original Spider-Man trilogy. Maybe if you saw some of his other movies such as the Evil Dead or Darkman, you'd understand why he made Dr. Strange 2 like he did
I’m not a fan of most of Rami’s movies. Specifically because he excessively uses comedic/campy-horror elements, the whole winking/joking zombie shtick.
Oh, I loved Darkman. Very few people talk about it and the sequels but I enjoyed them. Raimi only directed the first but the sequels did have some of his styles.
That one moment right after Wanda took over her 838 counterpart, where she looks directly at the camera, is the best part of this movie imo. Like she knows that you're watching her through the Multiverse :P
That _entire_ sequence was incredible! That was when i figured out it was Raimi directing, because that entire sequence might as well just be a picture of him.
As a STAR TREK fan, I remember the "Star Trek - The Next Generation" episode " Parallels" from 1993 and don't forget the Star Trek Mirror Universe episodes! 🖖
Yeah. I'm one of the ones who absolutely loved the movie! I saw it 2 times opening week which is extremely rare for me. It's my favorite MCU movie now, I think: non-stop thrilling action, great characters & acting, visually spectacular, so much heart... Having grown up with 90s Marvel cartoons & comic books, I felt like a kid again watching this.... And it leaves you so pumped for the next one! It is directed by Sam Raimi who is known for Evil Dead, though he also did the original Spiderman movies, so we got more of his style and some of the horror tropes from his movies. But it was planned as more of a horror movie even before he came on, and Doctor Strange is a character who does cross over into the horror genre. I personally enjoyed all of those quirks. Some of my favorite comicbook movies are Snyder's DC films so I prefer that dark gritty tone, and stylized action that this movie had some of. I find Disney generally too limiting with the stories they tell having to be family friendly. Though they are generally good at ensuring a base line of quality, but this movie I feel was a positive step for Marvel. & X-Men & Fantastic 4 really make it feel like the complete Marvel universe, finally. The thing about X-Men & Fantastic 4 is that they were done very poorly in live action in the past but when they get to the MCU I think they will make sure that it feels natural, and we will get much better comic book accurate, but also realistic, and not hoaky like in the past, versions of the characters. I can't wait!
"They made her look like she's in a horror movie" - Sam Raimi, the director of this film, is known for doing horror movies. The horror vibes are on purpose.
The MCU established characters can have variants (alternative versions of the same character) where they both can look physically the same and different.
Not too different from Back to the Future II. Marty goes in the future and pops back to an alternate 1985, where things have progressed quite differently from what he knew. Dr. Strange just pops sideways into his alternate timelines.
So are you saying that if someone treated nazis or Stalin or Mao or Pol Pot crappy it wouldn't be ok especially in response to what all of them did for power wealth & communism? There are people evil enough to justify treating them crappy. Now not all bad people should be miss treated but there are some so evil that it's understandable if someone does.
So don't worry too much about not seeing all the X-Men movies as this is a new variant of Charles Xavier not the same one from the X-Men movies. Earth-838 is also a newly introduced universe not being shown in any other media besides Multiverse of Madness. The Charles of this universe is inspired visually by the Professor X from the 90s Animated Series featuring his iconic yellow hoverchair and green suit with blue tie. They also played the 1990s X-Men theme as well which was awesome highly recommend the X-Men 90s show it's so good up there with Batman: The Animated Series. This Charles also draws from the Fox X-Men movie being played by Sir Patrick Steward and even quoting a line from one of the X-Men movies so he's like a mix of both. In the comic's the Avengers, X-Men, and Fantastic Four exist together but because Marvel Studios did not own the movie rights to X-Men and Fantastic they were never introduced into the MCU even though they played a massive part in the comic's for example the Infinity War of the comic's featured everyone from The Avengers to the X-Men. Civil War also featured everyone as well and even dealt with Mutant rights along with Superhumans but of course the MCU did not feature Mutants because of rights so they focused the Civil War around Wanda who in the comic is a Mutant. The Fox X-Men films take place on a different universe in fact with how many time related changes made in the X-Men films along with reboots there's like three different universes where they pretty much rebooted the franchise making it a little confusing on what films are canon anymore. The X-Men movies have so many continuity problems but there's some really good movies with Days of Future Past being of my the best Superhero movies outside of the MCU. Logan is also amazing and may even be my personal favourite Superhero film but I recommend at least watching up to Days of Future Past first before you dive into Logan. Reed Richards is a member of the Fantastic Four created in 1961 two years before The Avengers in 1963. The Fantastic Four are Marvel created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby but in the 1990s Marvel sold the rights when they were facing bankruptcy along with the rights to X-Men. This latest up until 2019 when Disney bought Fox and thus Marvel got the movie rights back. In this Fox made two Fantastic Four films and then rebooted it in like 2015 or something with a really awful film that missed the point of the Fantastic Four. Should note that John Krasinski did not play Mister Fantastic in any other film instead he was fan cast as Mister Fantastic for the MCU. It's unclear if he's playing Mister Fantastic of the main universe as there is a Fantastic Four film confirmed for the MCU. I do like how Earth-838 has the X-Men, Fantastic Four, Inhumans, and X-Men all co existing together like in the comic's it's just closer to what I grew up reading it's just a shame that we'll never see Tony Stark interacting with Reed Richards or Wolverine working alongside Steve Rogers Captain America unless they do flashbacks to WW2 where in the comic's they fought together. There is one theory going around stating that the Fantastic Four could've been a 1960s group but they got trapped in another dimensions maybe even the Quantum Zone from Antman. They could be introduced by Antman finding them in the next Antman movie bringing them back to Earth but in modern day introducing the Fantastic Four to the MCU. Then the Fantastic Four could start as a flash back to the 1960s and then pick off right when they return to Earth which would be pretty cool. X-Men on the other hand I have zero idea how they'll be introduced into the MCU. Maybe the X-Men do exist but there active in the background kind of like how Tom's Spider-Man was swinging around in the background we just never saw him until Civil War. But here's the big problem in the comic's and the X-Men movie's there over around 30 million people who classifies as Mutants so we should be seeing far more normal people in the MCU with unexplained abilities but we're not. So yeah hopefully Marvel has a plain to introduce these groups into the MCU.
20:55 "Are the X-Men Marvel? Are the Fantastic Four Marvel?" For some this question sounds so absurd, but at the same time just goes to show that the general movie goers don't really follow this stuff. Imagine how confusing it must be to have to get into concepts such as "the multiverse" or even having to keep track of TV shows continuity just to make sense of the upcoming movies.
That's why it's called Dr Strange. His power is Strange and all over the place. He is a Sorcerer. Sorcerer's are good and bad. I loved this movie. It perfectly embodies both sides of sorcery.
@@sharpaycutie2 what? Have you ever cooked? You have to destroy something to make something of benefit. You justify the bad in your action based on your context but some if not most is almost bad in someone else context.
The backstory on Captain Marvel (Peggy Carter) is in the animated series "What if...?" Black Bolt's story is in the Marvel series "The Inhumans" which calls back to "Agents of Shield." The woman at the end is Clea, a sorcererss and classic companion/team-up with Dr. Strange in comics. The hot dog vendor is Bruce Campbell, who plays the main character Ash in Sam Rami's Army of Darkness/Evil Dead trilogy. Rami incorporated a number of callbacks to the other films. The third eye is traditionally the symbol of the Illuminati. In theory, it allows the user to see beyond the physical realm to the spiritual and beyond.
I was so glad that we got the Illuminati cause they’re such a cool team! It’s literally some of the smartest characters in the entirety of Marvel coming together to make the toughest calls! Sucks that we didn’t get to see Iron Man.
Because of the sorcery of Doctor Strange, there’s always going to be an odd, offset, skewed, and creepy twisted activity. In this one, especially because of wanting to tell the “Wanda goes crazy and risks the universe for her kids” story adapted from the comics, Marvel chose horror-comedy director Sam Raimi. They wanted a horror perspective, in a PG-13 sense. I think this film pushes that rating fairly aggressively. So, it can say it accomplished that goal. I liked the film. It certainly seemed like a comic miniseries to me.
In regard to your question at the end, I didn't love this per se, but I love that they've reached the point where they can do something like this. The MCU has established that superhero is more a setting than a genre and they can do something like this that is a horror movie in a superhero setting, or like the first Captain America, which was a war movie in a superhero setting.
Or Ant-Man is a heist movie in a superhero setting. Or Winter Soldier is a political thriller. Or Black Widow is a spy movie. Or Shang-Chi is a kung-fu movie.
I in fact, LOVED this movie…as much as I enjoy Marvel films this was so different and right up my alley with the horror influence and some of gore that really added some flare and new waves of creativity that I feel has been missing in Marvel films.
Exactly, I don't understand the criticism. This is one of the most enjoyable Marvel films I've seen. Anyone who read the comics will understand it more.
Hi there long time Marvel comic book fan here. Just want to say I love watching your videos. Never change the way you approach watching them. I really enjoyed the movie. There were some parts that I though might have been weird for people who aren’t too familiar with the comics but I thought the strangeness and weirdness for this movie was just right. If anything the last Doc Strange movie had too little weirdness but with this one we see how the Doc Strange characters and stories really embrace that weirdness, that last scene where he uses the dead Strange corpse is so symbolic because it’s come full circle. The Doc Strange before he became a sorcerer would totally have sacrificed America, but in a display of personal growth the Doc Strange of this universe, raises the dead Strange and uses the body to do the right thing even though that body has broken down and is no longer functioning. It’s weird but it’s also poignant and that’s what I liked about it. Weird people can be good, weird people can do the right things too. Absolutely loved it.
This was directed by Sam Raimi who got his start with the Evil Dead movies, and later directed the Tobey Maguire Spider-Man movies. The vendor spelled to hit himself was Bruce Campbell, and this was a callback to the Evil Dead movies where Bruce's hand got possessed and attacked him. Bruce also had small cameos in all of Raimi's Spider-Man movies.
Personally I loved it. The director is known for movies like this, and while this is more tame than some of his other movies, it still retained a lot of the feeling from him as a director. Also, it fits in really well with your ‘typical’ Dr Strange comic story. Loved your reactions to it though! Not every Marvel movie will be everyone’s cup of tea. And it’s perfectly fine if this one wasn’t yours. Looking forward to future reactions from the both of you! Keep up the amazing fun work!
This isn't not what we were expecting but so glad we got . So worth the wait of 5+ years since doctor strange 1 made me fall in love with him . Benedict cumberbatch and Elizabeth Olsen are the real Mvp ...along with Sam raimi...we expected some multiverse stuffs but this truly justified the tittle . Wizardry vs Witchcraft, Experience vs Raw power , Motto to save life vs Motto to change reality . This is just What if ep 4 instead of doc strange Wanda. I actually love the cinematography and the Surprise but very present horror aspect of this . Loved your reaction btw . The ending gave me goosebumps, I can't wait for next 4-5 years for the next doc strange 3 . May be he'll become sorcerer Supreme by end of it .
I loved this movie. The 1st Dr. Strange really pulled magic into the MCU even though Wanda had been in it for a minute but her character hadn't really been delved into. We knew Hydra had used Lokis scepter to create her and her brother then WandaVision fleshed her out much more. The chaotic nature of the weirdness is a trademark of Sam Raimi the director and those who actually like the non formulaic MCU movies, this and Thor Ragnarok, are appreciative of Kevin Fiege for letting directors like Raimi and Taiki Waititi put their stamps on the movies. I mean does anyone remember who directed Iron man 3 or Thor the Dark World without looking them up? No but the style and visuals of Ragnarok and Dr Strange 2 are unequivocally Taika and Sam.
Iron Man 3 was Shane Black, who previously appeared as part of Arnie’s squad in Predator Thor TDW was meant to be Patty Jenkins, who went on to direct both Wonder Woman films for DC. It’s one of the reasons Portman fell out with Marvel. I can’t remember who took over thpugh
You ladies are so much fun to watch and see reactions from. As to your question about are people loving the film, it is an acquired taste really in how it relates to the director of the film. As people in the comments have already mentioned Sam Raimi cut his teeth in the horror genre with the Evil Dead films than branched out into horror and comedy after the first 2 ED films with Army of Darkness or ED3. He did do the original Spiderman trilogy with McGuire (even though the 3rd film was not on the same level as the 2 previous) then Drag Me to Hell and then back to a Superhero/Horror hybrid type film with Strange 2. I was generally entertained with the film as I grew up in the 80's in Ontario and the heyday of horror films, that was my bread and butter of film education. If you showed it to someone that didn't enjoy the weirdness of Raimi's earlier work than it may not be the same experience. Some will enjoy it, some wont.
My daughter made herself a Scarlet Witch costume. She loves the character. She wore the costume at Disneyland and people asked to take photos with her. It was so fun! She does look similar to the actress, so that helps even though she is much younger.
Ever since their first movies, Marvel has been drifting more toward recreating the comic universe in their movies than adjusting their comic stories to make them "movie-like." This really got apparent in Guardians of the Galaxy, and the Multiverse is the next level. The comics would keep one-upping a theme like this until it got too ridiculous to illustrate and they'd have to reboot. Expect next phase of the MCU to be a bit crazy.
Its was once I saw Thanos shatter the mirror dimension and turn it into a black hole only for it to transformed into butterflies by Doctor Strange that I knew we had gone full “comic book”
The theme is Sam Rami but, only like 1/3, you could tell the studio interfered in the movie. Could have been a masterpiece if they let Rami have full control. Also, the Patrick Stewart reveal could would have been better after her Star Trek and X-Men watch.
Wanda reminds me of Ingrid from once upon a time. She is the aunt of Elsa and Anna and has the same powers as Elsa. She suffered a loss just like Wanda and tried to fix it a similar way. However, just like Wanda she realized in the end that she did become a monster. Not by her powers or by her trauma, but by her choices that she made with them. Like I said, Wanda is not a villain; she’s just a desperate woman who wants to be happy again and just needs the guidance. 😰💔❤️🩹
Two things (in case they haven't been pointed out already): *The character being played by Charlize Theron in the post-credits scene is Clea. She has a long history in the comics with Dr. Strange. She is the daughter or niece (they never seemed to keep it straight) of Dormammu, from the first Dr. Strange movie, and Stephen rescues her from Dormammu, trains her in magic, and they have an on/off romance over the years. *The food vendor on the street is played by Bruce Campbell, a long-time friend and collaborator of Sam Raimi, the director of this movie. Raimi directed the first three Spider-Man movies with Tobey Maguire, and Bruce Campbell has a cameo in all of them. As always, you two ladies are a pure and utter delight!! Your reactions are fabulous, your observations are on point, and you're just so cute! Thanks for being the brightest spot of the TH-camVerse!! 😊
They showed the research institute as the Baxter Foundation...but its actually supposed to the Baxter Building located in Manhattan which is home to the "Fantastic 4" (both in comics and Fantastic 4 movies).
I really loved this movie! I would put it up there as one of the best MCU movies. Much of my love comes from how crazy it is with a mix of horror, humor, super hero and how it dares to just go nuts. When they put madness in the title, they really ment madness!
@Kuba Biskup This actually had a civilian character in it who mattered. Very refreshing when Marvel can rarely ever put anyone who doesn't wear a cape and fight in a movie in the last 5 years.
@Kuba Biskup If you have an opinion, share it, don't direct me to your cult leader. I don't watch TH-cam critics. I'm smarter than every one of them and don't need ANYONE to tell me what my opinion should be.
I loved this movie! I'm really liking that Marvel isn't afraid to go full comic book weird with the magic and the sci-fi and the fantasy. It really makes me feel like I'm watching the comic books come to life.
The woman on the mid credit scene is Doctor Clea Strange. In Comics series She is a sorceress and the disciple, lover, and eventual wife of Doctor Stephen Strange, and his ultimate successor as Sorcerer Supreme.
This was an amazing Sam Raimi horror/B movie. It may not be for everyone but it fit perfectly for this story and it's nice that they're trying to work in different styles.
Y’all Raimi fans are the Snyder fans with the DCEU. It’s so annoying. This ain’t a good movie, the horror was good, the cinematography and the acting of the lead actors (not Chávez). But the script, writing and exposition was bad. This is a 5/10 movie, average asf.
@@drivers99 I never said anything about him not being able to like the movie, what I meant by Raimi fans is that they always says the same shit “This has Rami all over it and I loved every minute of it” it’s just cringe and unoriginal, that’s why I compared them with Snyder fans calling every DCEU movie made by him “art” and “masterpiece”
@@py16667 I didn’t give a fuck about him liking the movie, what I mean by annoying is that Raimi fans always say the same shit and it’s unoriginal. Read my newest comment^
Cassie, if you and Carly liked this Dr Strange movie with the whole multiverse concept, might I suggest “Everything Everywhere All At Once”? Not Marvel, but deals with multiverse as well - even more in-depth and more universes, and definitely MORE trippy. Plus there’s also a whole family aspect that you might gravitate to. 😁🙌🏽
The woman played by CT in the mid-credits is Clea. She is Drommamu's niece & becomes Strange's wife in the comics. Now that he is learning to let go & that he & Christine are not meant to be, I hope she returns & we get her & Strange together.
I caught the Patreon reaction and yeah this one was a bit outside the MCU box. They're starting to expand upon all the themes and genres within Marvel Comics. It's great! This is what I've been waiting to see since I was a kid. I really hope you are able to react to Moon Knight soon. I think you'll like it!
As a former comic book kid that favored Marvel titles, I’m amazed that they essentially brought that world and experience into a movie universe. Gritty street level stuff? Got it. Crazy cosmic stuff? Got it. Big team ups? Got it. All in the same universe. Is it grimdark thought provoking deconstructions of the hero mythos? No. But neither was Marvel comics. It was about fun.
26:22 The weather is acting like dolby atmos setting up tone for This movie . Truly multiverse of madness 😅😆 I know you guys were confused, but that just it doc strange also did just that messed up with our minds and don't worry if you don't it watch a full movie breakdown video to understand better . Btw Darkhold has its own mid which corrupted her . Just think that what if ep 4 whatever happened to doc strange, swap that with story of Wanda. The last lady in purple looking like eternal is speculated to be in comics Dr strange Multiverse wife ...some way related to dormamu. I mean doc strange did find H closure with Christine, so yeah maybe new chapter for him now .
So glad you to quickly figured out that it was The Darkhold making Wanda evil as The Scarlet Witch other TH-camrs I've watched didn't catch it until the very end don't worry I don't think The Scarlet Witch is dead she's too powerful to die perhaps her autopilot magic just allowed the darkhold place to be destroyed but in a act of self preservation saved The Scarlet Witch since we saw at the last episode of WandaVision she can teleport Fun facts Elizabeth Olsen Did not enjoy being an evil person but she buckled down and went with the script and had fun doing them also when The Scarlet Witch yelled stop it to her alternate kids behind the scenes the kids I guess were told to throw stuff at Wanda one of those things hit her right in the face she got angry and unscripted yelled stop it unexpected but it fit so well it made it in the film Also the third eye yes is a punishment for using the darkhold but I'm unsure if there are any negative side effects aside from looking a little creepy The Scarlet Witch is likely immune to this heavy toll since there's a chapter written about her in The Darkhold
@@Sam_Guevenne if Wanda was to get the third eye than we would of seen long before Dr strange got his third eye she's been holding on to the darkhold for a while and I want to say she may be immune to the heavy burden
Marvel films are all encompassing. From straight comic hero, to action movie, to intrigue/espionage, to buddy cop movie, adventure comedy, to epic adventure to this, an old fashioned horror film. They all just happen to have superheroes in them. I can't imagine you'll ever see Evil Dead, but if you ever did you'd understand the hot dog vendor and the final scene. It's the beloved Bruce Campbell.
I see a lot of people being confused by the tone and I guess that is fair, this is a marvel movie, but leans hard into the campy horror and in all honesty I am here for it. Probably a top 5 MCU film for me if not just outside the 5. Watch this one again one day knowing what you are getting into and I am sure you will have a great experience. Also watching 'What If...?' helps a lot, I am surprised that isn't recommended watching for this so that you at the least know who Captain Carter is.
The character Charlize is playing is Clea, niece of Dormammu from the first Dr. Strange movie and she is the sorceress supreme of the dark dimension. There is lots more info but i'll leave it at that.
Charlize Theron isn't from the Eternals. She's playing Clea, the daughter of Dormammu, and she eventually becomes Dr. Strange's love interest, and successor as Sorceress Supreme.
I get that you're not a fan of the new characters, but some of us grew up with the X Men and loved them (and who knows, maybe someone out there loves the Fantastic 4 films as well). Just like you loved seeing Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire, these guest cameos actually mean something to some of us. So imo these appearances werent a bad thing, and I'm even grateful for the MCU doing this, actually.
Loved your guy’s reaction. I’m a fan of this film’s director, Sam Raimi. He comes from a horror movie background but has a variety of genres. He also did the Tobey Maguire Spider-Man films. It was in 2019 that Kevin Feige announced that this was ours be Marvel’s first horror movie. Mixing that with Sam Raimi’s visual horror aesthetic and introducing Multiversal characters, this has very quickly become one of my favorite MCU films. To each their own of course. Elizabeth Olsen was the standout character for me.
Also a fun note... it is thought that Professor X from this was not from the X-Men movies, but from the X-Men comics (the movies would have been yet another dimension and this definitely hints they are out there). The guy with the sonic shout that killed the other Dr. Strange then killed himself when he lost his mouth was the leader of the Inhumans, which was another Marvel comic book and a short run TV show. That was indeed Peggy Carter as Captain Carter. If you watch the What If? stuff you can see her origin. She gets the serum and Steve stays small all because of a tiny change during the situation where he would have got the serum. Fantastic 4 is coming up in the MCU so seeing John Krasinski play him (fan fav casting choice) was really cool. I hope they use him, he played it really well I thought. Basically, all the Illuminati were references and easter eggs. The one that didn't happen was that Iron Man was part of the Illuminati. It was rumored they would have Tom Cruise play the alternate him (he succeeded with Ultron, hence the bots) but it was considered too soon still, so he didn't make it in.
You should definitely watch “Everything Everywhere All At Once”. It did a better job at multiversity. Don’t watch any Sam Raimi movies then if you thought this was weird lol.
“They can’t just make different movies with different people in different universes right?”
Comics say hi.
But audiences are going to be asking where was F4 and X-Men when the Avengers were fighting Thanos.*
It also doesn't cancel out every pre-MCU movie which is the only way to get Sony and Universal into the MCU.
@@hulkhatepunybanner and 20th Century Studios pre-merger.

I love the fact that this movie is so unique and different from other marvel movies
Phase Four is unique in general, I have been here for it, has all the material been great, no. But it's all been consistently good at least.
I strongly disagree. Dr. Strange 2 was awesome tho 💯

One of the reasons that makes this channel special is just how wholesome it is to watch sisters enjoying movies together.
But the Darkhold was destroyed
@@seanpease370 Dr Strange has a photographic memory. So it all depends on how many pages he actually read looking for the right one.
@@seanpease370 But not Cthon, who wrote it.
For me, this is how weird magic should be in an otherwise grounded universe. And i'm so glad they got Sam Raimi for this, because he fits so well.
Yupp. This movie really feels like picking up a Doctor Strange comic. Weird gross monsters and dark magic.
i dont know, personally, im a little disappointed just because it wasnt what i would personally have liked to see. i dont necesarily mean in terms of the story. just how it was shot/filmed and the way they showcased certain powers/fights was pretty bad in my opinion. just in general a lot of the movie felt like it belonged in those weird ass movies that no one watches. not a marvel movie. maybe thats just me but i wasnt the biggest fan and it left much to be desired for me.
It's way more intense lol
Yeah, Fantastic Four and X-Men are from Marvel.
I have serious concerns over what Disney will do with the X-Men and Fantastic Four.
My headcanon is that 868 universe is the "Fox" Universe, which is why Reed Richards and Charles Xavier show up in it and haven't appeared in any 616 movies (yet).

Those and the Toby Maguire Spider-Man movies were directed by the same director, Sam Raimi. He's primarily known for his horror movies, which often have a distinct flavor of humor or the absurd. One's ability to enjoy the tone of this film would definitely be enhanced by knowing and enjoying his previous works.
I would actually pay good money to watch Cassie watch the Evil Dead lol

Quite a lot of this movie's creepy moments were taken right from Evil Dead. Yes, Cassie should totally watch Evil Dead and Army of Darkness, although I think she'll key in on the horror more than the humor (at least in Evil Dead).
I'm grateful that Disney allowed Sam Raimi to shoot it this way and I hope that with other brands he'll be brave enough to let the directors have more freedom.
They tried that with Star Wars and it didn't workout too well.
Allowing other directors to take the reign just means we can get different stories and different styles instead of it always being cookie cutter

I'm not a fan of Raimi, but I knew exactly what I was getting going into this film. I enjoyed it.

Once we have the F4 and X Men in the main MCU, I’ll finally rest, and watch the sun rise on a grateful universe
I loved it because it's so wierd and different
"They made her look like she's in a horror movie" - Sam Raimi, the director of this film, is known for doing horror movies. The horror vibes are on purpose.
The MCU established characters can have variants (alternative versions of the same character) where they both can look physically the same and different.
Not too different from Back to the Future II. Marty goes in the future and pops back to an alternate 1985, where things have progressed quite differently from what he knew. Dr. Strange just pops sideways into his alternate timelines.
What your sister said is so true: "How many excuses can you give people for treating other people crappy?"
Funny how they didn't recognize Bruce Campbell as the guy who gets mustard in his face lol.

20:55 "Are the X-Men Marvel? Are the Fantastic Four Marvel?" That's why it's called Dr Strange. His power is Strange and all over the place. He is a Sorcerer. Sorcerer's are good and bad. I loved this movie. It perfectly embodies both sides of sorcery.

Thanks!
Such a genuine reaction channel I’m glad I found you guys your personalities are a film makers goal always.
Raimi loves to torture Bruce so him beating himself made total sense...

Rumor was that if they kept going with the Raimi Spider-Man movies, he'd end up being that version of Mysterio.
Loved your reactions to it, but yes, the multiverse it’s complicated. It’s like that in the comics. I loved how unique this movie was
Personally I loved it.
Jon Faverau i think?
Iron Man 3 was Shane Black, who previously appeared as part of Arnie’s squad in Predator
Thor TDW was meant to be Patty Jenkins, who went on to direct both Wonder Woman films for DC.

"Right, ohhhh. Actually, he doesn't deserve her." 😄😂🤣
Absolutely vicious, I love it.
Expect next phase of the MCU to be a bit crazy.
i agree, I've been trying to explain the same thing to people!
I am amped up for that.
Marvel/Disney probably wants to hit that 20 year mark in 2028 then have a universal reboot storyline when basically almost everyone gets recast.
Its was once I saw Thanos shatter the mirror dimension and turn it into a black hole only for it to transformed into butterflies by Doctor Strange that I knew we had gone full “comic book”
@@reggiebrown9508 this!!!
Yeah I agree with you 💯👌
lol the timing of the storm was actually pretty neat
Two things (in case they haven't been pointed out already):
*The character being played by Charlize Theron in the post-credits scene is Clea.
This is one of the best reactions I've seen to this movie! I loved how confused and baffled you were the whole time lol
The end of your reaction with being quiet and confusion was the best bit 😂😂😂
I'm smarter than every one of them and don't need ANYONE to tell me what my opinion should be.
you two were amazing and hilarious in this review. GREAT JOB!!!!!
Lol the music fight wasn't that complicated. It was just a way to physically manifest the energy they were throwing at each other.
"Actually, he doesn't deserve here" Amen, Carly!
Hilarious reaction to a brilliant movie, you two are adorable.
Great movie and great timing, gonna go watch the new Thor shortly.
Nice touch, using the Hex(agon) for the Technical Difficulties overlay. :)
This was an amazing Sam Raimi horror/B movie. It may not be for everyone but it fit perfectly for this story and it's nice that they're trying to work in different styles.
"Superhero Time" - THIS should be my new Call-Sound on my Cellphone :)
This film was pure Sam Rami and I loved every minute of it
Y’all Raimi fans are the Snyder fans with the DCEU. It’s so annoying. This ain’t a good movie, the horror was good, the cinematography and the acting of the lead actors (not Chávez).
But the script, writing and exposition was bad. This is a 5/10 movie, average asf.
@@reynaldolorenzo8409 not cool to crap on someone for liking something you don’t like
@@reynaldolorenzo8409 yeah, it’s so annoying when people don’t think exactly like me, why must people have different viewpoints & opinions?!
"I want her to be good again", had me laughing so hard.
Love when Cassie reacts with Carly, Carly is so beautiful
You can say that again pal.
yep love the reaction pairing
Haha, I was in that storm with the hail too. It was coming down pretty bad that day.
The last 3rd was the part I liked the best. They really let Raimi be Raimi in that part.
31:34 It's the thing Doctor Strange picks up while fighting Kaecilius, and he says something like, "you don't know how to use that, do you?"
That movie is near perfect.
That movie is super trippy. Loved it though. Michelle Yeoh, ftw.
@@papa_xan One of my favorite, if not THE favorite, movies of 2022 I've seen!
@@Delostacia Agreed. Michelle Yeoh is amazing in this - and that's not even discounting how awesome the entire cast is!
The woman played by CT in the mid-credits is Clea.
She is Drommamu's niece & becomes Strange's wife in the comics.
Now that he is learning to let go & that he & Christine are not meant to be, I hope she returns & we get her & Strange together.
Please give STAR TREK a chance! 🖖
Both y'all's makeup is on point in this vid !
(Eyeball plucked out) "Uhhghh! Marvel Staaahhhhhp!" XD
Haha, I loved all the extra mood and atmosphere that the real-life rainstorm added; really enhanced the viewing experience! XD
26:22 The weather is acting like dolby atmos setting up tone for This movie . Truly multiverse of madness 😅😆
I know you guys were confused, but that just it doc strange also did just that messed up with our minds and don't worry if you don't it watch a full movie breakdown video to understand better .
So glad you to quickly figured out that it was The Darkhold making Wanda evil as The Scarlet Witch other TH-camrs I've watched didn't catch it until the very end don't worry I don't think The Scarlet Witch is dead she's too powerful to die perhaps her autopilot magic just allowed the darkhold place to be destroyed but in a act of self preservation saved The Scarlet Witch since we saw at the last episode of WandaVision she can teleport
Fun facts Elizabeth Olsen Did not enjoy being an evil person but she buckled down and went with the script and had fun doing them also when The Scarlet Witch yelled stop it to her alternate kids behind the scenes the kids I guess were told to throw stuff at Wanda one of those things hit her right in the face she got angry and unscripted yelled stop it unexpected but it fit so well it made it in the film
Also the third eye yes is a punishment for using the darkhold but I'm unsure if there are any negative side effects aside from looking a little creepy The Scarlet Witch is likely immune to this heavy toll since there's a chapter written about her in The Darkhold
i thought that was the manifestation of the eye of agamotto
@@Sam_Guevenne if Wanda was to get the third eye than we would of seen long before Dr strange got his third eye she's been holding on to the darkhold for a while and I want to say she may be immune to the heavy burden
I cannot believe how well-timed your look was at 37:35 amazing
To be fair, the Illuminati is the dumbest part of this movie so kinda who cares if you've seen What If.
@@maxducoudray that was my favorite part. The evil Wanda and bad dr strange ruined the film.
@@maxducoudray That's funny because that was my favorite scene of the whole movie.
Clea is Dormammu's niece, not daughter. Clea's mother, Umar, is Dormammu's sister.
Great reaction! I’m still waiting to find out what happened to White Vision, since he now has all memories!!
37:34 the way yall looked at each other had me rollin 🤣🤣
