Hi Matt, I want to let you know when I saw your video last winter you inspired me. I have had a bad run of health problems and unemployment sitting around the house. In the past 6 months I have went from 300 to 275LBS with my blood pressure starting at 190/110 and yesterday it was 154/84. My doctor said when I lose 15 more pounds my BP should drop closer to normal range (120/80). Then I am going to contact classic transport and apply for a job using you as a referral. It has been a longtime since I have been excited! Keep on trucking down the road and making money along with posting videos, really enjoy watching how RV transport works.
Mad respect for you going out and doing it, and then sharing it all with the world. Keep it going, and keep us all riding with you, its allot of fun to watch and learn from you.
An idea for when you’re loading. Get a cheap battery or jump box. Hook it to the trailer and hold onto the break away cable. If the winch gives way then pull the cable and stop the trailer.
I'm a hardcore offroader. I'm not a harbor freight fan at all, but.... Their Badlands Apex 12000k winch is as good as a Warn for a third of the price. I'm going to be retiring from being a machinist in the next year and I'm going to start doing the rv transport as well. Keep up with the good info!
My 2024 Ram Bighorn 3500 cc 4wd sb HO Cummins GVWR 11,800 payload 3,800 but by the time add accessories I lost several hundred lbs. You're absolutely right about gas pumps, I got stuck in WV with my 1/2 ton & 24' camper, station was empty but while filling up a bunch of cars pulled in & I was stuck 😅
Great video. Hang in there with the multi haul. It always cost more when you first start up any business. How is classic transport versus other companies?
Overhead is way lower for a gas vehicle maintenance is way lower for a gas vehicle. However, diesel gets better economy and more power, better longevity depending on how you take care of your vehicle
You are correct. I’ve been transporting RVs for three years with a F350 srw 7.3 L gas. The truck currently has 279k miles. I have no issue running 65 mph pretty much anywhere through the US. Long 6% grade hills. I’ll back down to 60 miles an hour. It’s running 373 gears. Funny thing is the diesel transporters that run with me don’t like going any faster because they don’t overheat their turbo.
You're taking a very big gamble with being over length and almost surely over 26000 GCWR. The only way you're not over GCWR with the 14000 GVWR of your truck, is if your trailer is rated exactly 12000. And then on top of it, you're tearing up a 1-ton dually rather than loafing along in a cheaper, more efficient, more aerodynamic, more professional, more comfortable, and safer HDT. And then there's the whole issue of getting the right amount of weight onto the truck vs the trailer, even if we ignore the GCWR problem. You're between a rock and a hard place by staying non-CDL plus needing to run right at the non-CDL scale limit, while exceeding the GCWR limit. You've got a CDL and are acting like you don't. Use it! Hit the reset button. Find a nice used Volvo with a sleeper and APU, before you find the tail wagging the dog. It will at least get your rig to be legal. Right now, every time you go through a weigh station, your concern shouldn't be just the weight, it should be an inspector looking to bust a hotshot violating the rules, because that's exactly what you are. Likewise, any cop who pulls you over for anything, will have the ability to really ruin your day, and not even have to let you continue to your destination.
Hi Matt...very important Eld advice..don't use Persoanl Convinience...only because weather...or Mayor Personal Emergency...Not every day...or you be punish with a big fine by DOT officer....avoid problems.!! Good job !!! Good luck.!!!
Hi Matt, thanks for the great content and information! How are the back haul opportunities with Classic Transport? Thinking about leasing on with them.
I did single haul but the money is in multi or at least haul & tow, You have to spend more money than you think you will at the start but everything is deductible you will get it back in the end.
got step deck shipshe only payed 6500 but had to do a lot of work all the bearing had a spindle replaced put a harbor freight winch on it bet ill be 10 in it before im done
Personally do the full CDL and get the proper registration and permits or whatever you need that way you’re not limiting yourself and having to do public school math to figure out how much fuel and cargo straps weigh so you’re not running illegal.
3/4 tons can legally pull more than a one ton… you need to get more information. The main difference in the Chevys anyway is the independent front suspension on a 3/4 versus a solid, harsher ride, front end on a one ton
7.1 lbs per gallon but it is a auxiliary tank which is not part of the original tank of the truck so it counts against weight if that is what your asking.
I bought it used from someone I found by asking around. Initially, it cost me $10,000, but I've since invested an additional $3,500 into it, bringing my total investment to around $13,500. Maybe I should have spent a bit more initially for one in better condition, but this one now has plenty of new parts and the axles have been serviced.
Unless going the full commercial/CDL route, only the GVWR (PLUS not exceeding that on the scales, of course) matters, no matter if it weighs less. If your GVWR is 14,000, your trailer GVWR cannot exceed 12,000 even if your truck is 6000 under its GVWR and the trailer is 7000 under its GVWR.
You seem like a good guy, and I’m rooting for you, but as a 30 year industry veteran, I can see that this won’t end well for you. You have a CDL. Use it. You could go drive a real truck and get paid 55 CPM. You’ll get benefits. You won’t need to worry about fuel prices. If the truck breaks down it’s not coming out of your wallet. They’ll provide you with the tools and equipment to do the job. This RV transport is for suckers; you’re practically working free.
Dude bought the trailer, but realized being hooked up to a 53 footer all the time sucks …. I would rather haul a 26foot trailer to location and then deadhead back … and not have to load or unload them on the 53… there’s no money in rv transport people

Also, winches are easy to tear apart and fix.
Dude, I'm supposed to start in August. I don't think this is for me now. Thanks for the info bro..

IT DOESN'T MATTER IF YOUR UNDER 26K ITS ALL ABOUT YOUR COMBINED GVWR I LEARNED THAT THE HARD WAY
Dually also reduces trailer sway on fifth wheels. Winch Open Road 4x4 Panther Series II around $400 for a 13,000lb. I love them
Where are you? Haven't seen you post in a while.
I just bought a used shipshe step I have 2 winches on it and now I’m doing a $800 break job before I can even get started

It might get you piece of mind when you get back to Texas, might have your trailer friend go through your break system?
Could you find small hot shot loads for back hauls so you’re not dead heading back to Goshen?
the 12 k harbor freight winch was 500 on sale with the remote and steel cable
May sound crazy but what about running 2 cheaper harbor freight winches? Extra insurance when loading and unloading and also spend way less on them

Hi Matt, thanks for the great content and information! How are the back haul opportunities with Classic Transport? Thinking about leasing on with them.
They just hired a new dispatcher who I’m told works hard to get their drivers back hauls. I haven’t done any yet, but they have offered to help me.
Thank you. I had to turn in cdl.
Good content. Good luck to you. Why not do regular hotshot?

What is going on with your hauling

Hey I’m fixing to start working for the company your working for any advice anything good or bad about them?
It’s gonna get much faster than an hour. You’ll get that down to about 25/30 minutes trust and believe.
Hello. What do I search for when looking for the correct trailer? How do you keep the cable from winch rubbing first travel trailer?
Having the trailers on the trailer u should have good luck 🤞 on not having any back charges for damages that they kill tow away guys on.
Matt I'm in austin trying to get into this, hVing issues with dmv got time for a few questions?

The front suspension same all chevys ifs.
Great channel, you are sharp
Fuel weighs 6.8 pound per gallon. Buy the d.o.t. regs are conciderat to fuel weight. We'll my experience is as such.
7.1 lbs per gallon but it is a auxiliary tank which is not part of the original tank of the truck so it counts against weight if that is what your asking.
Don’t knock harbor freight, they are really good winches.
Hey Matt are you doing okay??
Don't forget to put your BOL in your ELD fella, if not it's a violation.
Is it steady right now in RV transport? I'm thinking about getting in to it, but dont want to start if its not steady yet.
You're illegal in most states being over 65 feet total length. Some will.let you go if you have the bed removed.
Dang! Where did you find a trailer like that for $10,000?!
I bought it used from someone I found by asking around. Initially, it cost me $10,000, but I've since invested an additional $3,500 into it, bringing my total investment to around $13,500. @@RVEmcee even with repairs that’s a good deal!!
got watch your axle weights
Can you post the link to classic..?
Get a c-17 winch. I heard they work better
A little overkill, but you might be right! I know all the specs to that one 😂
The last 5 minutes of the video is everything you should have thought about before you jumped in feet first 🤷♂️
Where in Indy did you stay??
Where you at these days man
My 2018 ram single wheel 3500 weighs right at 8000 pounds

What about length?
It is over, and he's just praying they don't catch him.
i think your hearing drag on winch
FYI it's illegal for the company to charge tou for their ELD. Also join OOIDA
Welcome to the world of trucking or in your case RV hauling. Make alot spend alot.
You forgot to subtract TAXES!

Matt, can I contact you?
Your over length if your trailer is 50 feet you can't be over 65feet total truck and trailer. Dot will get you
5th wheel pin over axle - change anything in your mind? Not sure myself but seems like that cuts 5’ off overall length.
Get a Harbor freight wrench ,
WHERE ARE YOU??????????????????????????????????
7k is not a lot. What kind of loads can you load on that, seems not a lot
It has a GVWR of 22,000 lbs and an empty weight of 8,800 lbs, allowing it to carry a maximum cargo of 13,200 lbs.
@RVEmcee who are you leased with? Most companies won't lease trucks without bed delete.
@@gabaquino Classic Transport
I don’t see a bed in your truck…???? Where are you sleeping these days?
I am really concerned about your decision making progress.
I think he has quit!
U should have goton a new one .
Here's my two cents worth, get out of it all together, you make better money mowing yards
