This is just the citizens interests being at odds with the companies. The companies want to maximize their profits, if H1B is slashed, they'll shift to more outsourcing, it will always be a race to the bottom

Interesting. We had open immigration for the first 200 years of this country. Was that good or bad for US citizens?

    • @uwotm8634

@WanderingRobotStudio We didn't really have open immigration, it was restricted who could become a citizen, and people living far away from the US could not arrive easily

@@WanderingRobotStudioThe first 200 years, it was also much harder to travel. Not to mention there was no welfare state. Everyone who came to the US knew you were expected to make your own way or rely on the help and charity of neighbors etc.

When he says Elon doesn't care about the dough. Why not ask, why the only people who stayed at Twitter was foreigners stuck in "hardcore" mode.

Never had heard Indian Bronson speak before, saw his tweets, but he has almost the EXACT same laugh as Yarvin. Good discussion - both parts, thanks.
Generally, I see it as the Left/Left leaning uni-party and regime Republicans who've long been in favor of cheap immigrant labor, shaping the barriers to tech or other jobs, so, an institutionalized problem. There's definitely a need to reverse that so that native-born Americans (of any ethnic background) have an equal opportunity for coveted jobs, academic chances, etc. Hopefully the big blow-up of this issue will underscore the need to keep native born Americans at the top of the list of possibilities and that many Americans who voted for Trump aren't fu

Totally false equivalency comparing America first doctrine in military context vs corporate america. Corporations answer to shareholders, that's the free market capitalism we've chosen. It is their job to find ways to minimize costs, including flight to cheap foreign labor, if needed.

All clearly scapegoating immigrants for the processes of capitalism

Also, there are no dog walker jobs or 711 jobs that get H1B. This guy is totally misleading. H1B (Skilled worker Visa needing minimum 60K pay and a degree) is mis-used to some extent, but this guy totally misleads. Actual H1B average wage is 120K.

So much ignorance on part of Bronson that it is note funny. India's second most powerful politician is an Italian born lady Sonia Gandhi. Also, Singapore doesn't get you to sign any declarations about not using free government services. They are not accessible anyways as foreigners won't have local id cards. I like the guy, but don't understand why he is treated as an expert without knowing much.

While we're trying to go down the America First doctrine, let's add tariffs to every non-US made item. Incentivize US made products at all of our mainstream retail stores. Let's see what happens.

Ultimately we need a superior workforce, where it is not possible to train someone from a 3rd world country to do our jobs. This is not a stagnant industry, continuous learning and personal growth should be prioritized (instead of protectionsim).
It is natural for the low-end and mediocre jobs to become a commodity and find cheaper labor. Cutting edge work and high-end software is still being done here by Americans with exceptional foreign labor (and not the body shops from India).

The fundamental reason why the database folks have got ahead is because that's one of the only industries where marginal productivity has significantly increased since 1972. People's wages are based on their marginal productivity and supply and demand for that skill set in their area in productivity for most jobs for example construction workers is actually down 50% since 1972 per hour worked same with health care education truck drivers etc these people can't be paid much more there isnt the profit to increase wages enough if productivity stays low.
If you look at other industries that have had high productivity growth such as commercial agriculture fracking you also see the owners and skilled employees have had wages that have more than kept up with inflation because they're productivity has been much higher than inflation.
This inequity is a result of inequity productivity growth mostly and if thats not fixed nothing will change.
For example if you do the math like all the leftist never do say if you took all the profits from Walmart divided them equally between all Walmart's workers it sounds like a lot over 20 billion in profit but it actually is pre-tax about $2 an hour raise They are just not productive enough to get paid much more, I think most people intuitively think that if you divide it all their profits evenly people would make another $15 - $20 an hour.
We need to really figure out WTF happened in 1972 to kill productivity in most industries and reverse it.

Trying to frame this as "DEI for whyte people" is such lolbert bullshit. For a start, obviously native American workers arent just Whyte. There are Indians, Asians and others who were born in the US that can do a lot of these tech jobs, not to mention recent immigrants already here.

I see both sides I've worked in agricultural technology startups sold my company and went back to the dairy farm in upstate New York at my friend owns. We actually have two farms One has robotic milkers and is very automated the other larger farm as mostly Mexican and Guatemalan workers who are awesome pretty much never complain I always show up on time hardest working people you ever saw they usually come for 5 to 7 years save up money and then go back home. We have as well as other large farms tried to hire locals before and we paid well above average wage for unskilled or semi-skilled work in this area that's about 18 bucks an hour We paid up to $26 an hour for milkers and we couldn't get anyone besides some of the Mennonites to actually show up on time not being drugs and do the job. The reason why Americans won't do it is because they can just go on disability work a little side gig for cash and pay no tax and have the same purchsing power. Almost everyone here is on disability because they have a bad back its ridiculous the get away with it. They dont want to do work when they can get as much money playing video games and drinking beer at home.

Assuming what you say is true, maybe we should try to actually fix this or get to the bottom of the causes? Having a constant influx of cheap immigrant labor just works as a relief valve and means there's little incentive to actually do anything about this.
