The part where Paul talked about the uncomfortable feelings when he would think about looking at 'anti-mormon' information really rang a bell with me. We are trained to be our own thought police. I've been out of the church for almost a year and I still find myself having those automatic thoughts. I was in the church for 44 years, that type of indoctrination doesn't die easily.
Wow I left the church a year and a half ago and I still love to watch you videos and I can really resin-ate with this family and what they discovered. Unfortunately my wife didn't follow me out of the church and we are now divorced. I can't wait to watch and hear the rest of the story. Thanks for all your work John.
I'm the same age and generation as Paul, so his story of going to the temple the first time was my mirror experience (penalties, five-points of fellowship, washing/anointings, etc...) was something I could relate to. Also my anger at the leaders for saying, "You should already know this. ..Or, we've always taught this, etc..." was filled with a sense of peace and like Lisa said, there was a weight lifted off. To realize that truth is out there in science, history, philanthropy, empathy, etc... is very, very empowering. Also just the knowledge that you're not alone in these doubts, fears and discoveries is just so comforting. Thanks to John Dehlin and Jeremy and this family for sharing their journey and thoughts. Love these guys.
Sarah Pratt spoke up about why Joseph didn't have children with any of his wives except Emma. It wasn't abstinence, it was abortion. Dr. Wyl recorded her testimony in his 1886 book: "Mormon Portraits". It's on page 59.
As I was researching, this is one of the first things I learned. It's a horror story to me. I can't believe how much the true story differs from the story the LDS Church feeds us.
@@psmith535 This sounds like Denver Snuffer teachings. But Sarah Pratt wasn't the only one who spoke up about Joseph Smith's wives and their abortions. John C. Bennett confessed to having performed them. In the end though, people end up believing what they want to believe.
@@psmith535 do your research! Joseph Smith had 30 or more wives, and there have been people that have claimed he made these women have abortions. Where do you think BY got all of his influence from? !
There is no other reason for Joseph Smith to propose "marriage" to a 14-year-old girl unless he planned to have sex with her. And there is no reason that she would have been reluctant unless she knew he wanted to have sex with her. Otherwise, why get married? If he wanted to 'seal' her up for exaltation in a dynastic relationship, he could have just had her sealed to him as his child. OR, in the case of Helen Mar Kimble, just have her sealed to her own parents, who were faithful Mormons!
Has anyone noticed that there is a LDS bookstore advertisement on this TH-cam feed for CTR rings!! It always bothered me that the church would, an still does, make it popular to have these things along with bumper stickers etc etc etc. I recently found mine, a very nice ring and gave it to my TBM friend I still include in my life. Great series! By the way John. Just wanted to make a comment about the advertisement
That's my Aunt, Uncle, and Cousin. I Love you guys!

From the first day in the Temple, it never felt right.
What a wonderful family. John, please do more interviews like this.
Paul's wife, Lisa... She is an amazing top quality woman . The courage this couple show is incredible. What a powerful story.
I was totally freaked out by the temple, also. Went in 1976. On my wedding day. Yikes.
What a marvelous family. The fact they made it through intact will give hope to many. Looking forward to hearing the rest of this interview.
You folks are an inspiration
Thank you John for all you do! I personally felt the same exact way this brother felt, "what is wrong with me..." so sad how this effects us...
Certainly feelings are deceiving. It's amazing how many of us "felt the Spirit" over Paul Dunn's fairy tales.

I was horrified! I wonder what those women must have gone through, as they were likely forced to have the abortions.

is the sound coming in and out for other people?
Yeah, the sound is coming in and out for me also.
Beautiful love story...
Help! Poor audio for any one else?

There are choose the left rings.
Any group that does not allow you to attend your child's wedding? Just no.
Great
I must be getting old but what does ‘snarky’ mean?
To me, snarky means a wee bit sarcastic, a more gentle kind of sarcasm.
Lisa - one day?! It took me years of study to figure out that JS was a fraud.
Sorry to say but this is a cult…all are blinded. Good people but sadly blinded & brainwashed. 🙏🏻⛪️🕊
"He made it up." Who is he and what was made up?
Also Mormon Stories #400 has been removed. Why?
Joseph Smith - plainly, Mormonism - obviously.
