I have 3 of these, one of them a Skmei. They're great for working in the garden etc. When they get dirty I just clean them in the sink with an old toothbrush. 2 are black and the other is grey/black camouflage with orange numerals, I wear it to the pub sometimes. I just bought 2 replacement straps for these watches, just for fun. I've got big wrists, so the watch looks quite normal.
I have one of those Smael "mudmaster", it's a very cool watch, but it is no Casio gshock, that's for sure. I just uploaded a review for it a few days ago. It is very cool to see it compared to the real thing. Thanks for that!

PT111111 I have two of these in different colors and love both although I love my true G-Shock watches even more these smaels are awesome looking and aslong as you don’t beat on them to badly it definitely will suit its purpose I wouldn’t buy this at 20.00 but at 13.00 I think they are worth the price

Having just realised that I was wearing a $5000+ Seiko Tuna watch every day at work (had it since the 70's and had no idea of its potential value) I bought a Smael just as a "disposable" watch if it got damaged. For $18AUD I can't say I'm disappointed - keeps perfect time. The only issues are the LED brightness and Luminous markings - but hardly a complaint for a watch of this price.
Wow where did you get that Tuna? How fascinating! Haha good to hear the Smael keeps time. In reality they would really have to almost intentionally cock it up to make a quartz that doesn’t keep time!
My Smael watch's light is very bright and clear. (A slightly different model.) But I'm super impressed by the built quality. And i own many expensive watches.
I see these Chinese Casio homages for the price, great to give away to the youngsters in the family as presents. Though you can get some pretty interesting Casio watches for $30-$40.
Yeah I went with Chinese knockoffs when I started collecting a couple years ago.. embarrassed to say I may of spent 400+ on various autos,digis, and ani Digi .. probably 15+ cheap watches. Then I bought a Casio duro 200m diver, then a Citizen ISO certified diver and finally a Seiko skx007 (and another because discontinued) -got rid of all the cheap Chinese watches✔️ Now im into vintage/classic Casio digital' bought (it's 9 now) so far including the Gshock square '83 reissue with solar and atomic time keeping in a 42mm case! (Long rant😱) so if you do get a Chinese watch stop at 3😂😂😂 -🍻💙🇱🇷
I sometimes buy these Chinese watches (Skmei, Lige, Megir, Naviforce, Zeblaze, and maybe next time Curren) but I stay away from these analog/digital combos because of how the two modules aren't synced. That just kills it for me. I have one G-Shock that has this hybrid setup and it's cool how the analog hands are tightly controlled by the digital module. With these copies, it's just nuts to see the two time displays doing their own thing.

I have had 10 of these Smael chronometer styles the watches in 7 years. . Being an active cave explorer mountaineer and ice climber, rockclimber as well as a professional climbing photographer and wear it all the time whilst pursuing my outdoor extreme sports and cannot recommend these Smael watches more highly enough. In caves I have trashed them exposing them to water mud dirt relentlessly sometimes down to depths of 3 - 4 feet and had one malfunction on me or let in water ever. The watch takes a lot of punishment and I've never had badly scratched faces except the odd scratch fro rocks. The strap despite its basic plastic material construction as never broken either. My only moan is the short battery life ...for me it's usually between 7 - 12 months. Still for its cheap price it may not be as well constructed as the Casio G Shock but you cannot go wrong for reliability against price and if if one did fail I two or three more at home to replace it with ...i love it's big chunky appearance and postive feel on my wrist. I would recommend them to anyone pursuing outdoor sports for its style cost and reliability
Yeah that’s a fair way to view them - kinda disposable yet tough. But then again this is almost literally dime a dozen - any number of other cheap watches would perform the same, including $15 genuine Casio. Btw this is not “chronometer style”.
I bought a 1155B. I have several G Shocks including the King G-Shock and a GG-B100. Of course the Skmei can’t compare to a Mudmaster. But I have to say for the price and if you’re looking for a real beater watch it’s more than adequate. It looks cool, chunky, so far it’s keeps time. It’s $16 bucks, so you really can’t go wrong.
I have 3 of these Smaels, and they do function. But, keep in mind the instructions say "do not push buttons while under water", so the 50m claim might be an exaggeration. I had the battery die on a couple of them, they use a tiny battery for the analog hands and second larger one for the digital, so far only the digital one dies. You can install yourself for cheap if you get the batteries on Amazon, but paying someone to replace them is higher than the cost of the watch. Plus, the plastic band is very uncomfortable, it digs in and even the corner of the clasp digs in. I am done buying cheapo watches

Buttons generally should not be operated underwater - even a 300m rated Omega Seamaster chronograph instructs you not to operate it underwater. 2. All batteries die eventually - it is a fact of life. Were you expecting otherwise?
@@PerthWAtch My £25 Casio with stainless steel bracelet has a 10-year battery and it's still going strong after 11 years. The plastic straps are a disaster because they don't last more than 2-3 years. I wonder if it's possible to install a stainless steel bracelet onto a G-shock?

Just got my first Casio in 2 decades! GD 350 negative display. 6 Vibration alarms/alerts: hourly, 4 daily, 1 snooze. Only had it for 90 minutes and delighted. Need it for skiing hols. Can't be asked to look at time so needed vibrating hourly alerts. Negative display makes all black watch real good looking tough time piece. Looks like might be able to leave it to someone in my will 😉😎
I bought a SMAEL for a laugh at $9, it seemed really well made, but I had no idea it would be so large and I have fairly large wrists. Anyway, the digital displays are replicated and awful, but I must admit, the SKMEI does appeal, because the digital parts seem genuinely useful. I still can’t get over the silly size, though. I’ll probably give it a miss. A superb comparison video, though, for such a cheap watch, thanks.
I’ve got 2 smaels 1 back with blue 1 green cammo. Both keep decent time and look much more substantial than they actually feel on the wrist they are very light despite their giant size which I personally like! They look more expensive as I paid $13.00 each but have since have seen them as low as $9.00 and worth what the price tag says on that particular day. Overall I suggest this as a great beater watch and as an outdoor tool. You usually get what you pay for but in my opinion your get a good bit of watch for the small investment!

As far a I can tell, it's a fancy pattern that changes every second and isn't related to binary counting. They loop on a 10 pattern interval with some patterns being repeated within the 10 pattern interval.
The Smael Smudmaster. What's very telling is that not only has Smeal not gone out of business, but the price of their watches has increased. They don't have to give them away to get people to buy them anymore.
Testriding the size and look of g-shocks in the mirror is quite prudent. Testriding in public would be quite depressing, lol. After the mirror testrides, how to recoup the funds for straps etc? No resale lol, anyone here ever bought a used smael/skmei? Do tell!!

Incredible value watches. As limited the features are, compared to real Casio, it will probably last longer them some marriages in Los Angeles. I know that Casio has some $10 range watches, but there is no comparison how much of watch you are getting from very strangely named Chinese watch companies. (Just wondering... can't they think of some better names than SKMEI OR SMAEL?). As I remember, SKMEI has been around for many years, but it just seems that it is just copying most of Casio watches and selling at lower market. (probably a lot in 3rd world countries..) Great review..hows the time keeping of the smael? I just had myg shock gravity master hour minute hand motor burn out after only 2 years, so its hard for me to invest 200 plus in plastic quartz watch any longe
This version SKMEI is durable! Just saw uncensored video from front line of Ukraine. It starts from close up of the working watch of SKMEI, and then camera zooms away, revealing the fact, that watch is on the wrist of the skeleton of long dead and decayed Russian soldier... Proof , that it IS durable and good watch !

I never thought you'd want to wear a G-shock for the "looks". Those resin blocks are hideous looking in my humble opinion. Most people I know who wear G-shock's are interested in the functions of the module more than the look. At least that's what the say. Great comparison in any event. Definitely a lot of compromise for the price but that is to be expected no matter what you're comparing.
Thanks. Definitely a lot of interest in the looks here, hence the production of multiple different modules with the same functions, not to mention multiple colour options for every model, as well as countless limited editions (which differ only in looks).
These Chinese copies are not that bad, but I would not like to walk around displaying SKMEI or whatever. I would rather wear a 10 euro Casio. The Chinese must stop copying everything, it is enough!

These Chinese copycats are for pretend men, whereas as real men would buy an authentic watch that they can afford. There are multiple rugged Casios available for less than £50, so there's absolutely no need to buy from cheap Chinese brands.

Yep I get what you mean, it’s not integrated at all, and are indeed comprised of two separate mechanisms. That’s what we get with copies I suppose!

Yeah, a few people have mentioned the idea of using it as a "test drive" for the real thing, for which it would serve reasonably well :)

Car companies have been copying each other for centuries! It's called the free market system and Commercialism! Also called corporate spying! I wouldn't feel as bad for buying them if I could quit this thinking about how many sweat houses and slave labor that put these together in china!!
Incredible value watches. As limited the features are, compared to real Casio, it will probably last longer them some marriages in Los Angeles. I know that Casio has some $10 range watches, but there is no comparison how much of watch you are getting from very strangely named Chinese watch companies. (Just wondering... can't they think of some better names than SKMEI OR SMAEL?). As I remember, SKMEI has been around for many years, but it just seems that it is just copying most of Casio watches and selling at lower market. (probably a lot in 3rd world countries..) For the money, they are super nice looking watches (even though they are copies of well known Casio... probably that is why we feel that they look nice, ha ha ha), definitely for people who can not afford $600 real Casio or don't want to spend that much money for a super complicated quartz watch. thanks for the review, Ivan. have a great day.

Great review..hows the time keeping of the smael? I just had myg shock gravity master hour minute hand motor burn out after only 2 years, so its hard for me to invest 200 plus in plastic quartz watch any longe
Thanks for that - I think it's hard to stuff up quartz timing... both these watches have kept within 10 seconds after 2 weeks, which is fine by me.

Having cheap watch was never go wrong for me... well i am just wear expensie watch for formal event and it depend in my clothes too, and wear the cheap one for most of my daily activity🤣.
A lot of cheap watch go wrong. Some will literally fall apart on your wrist.

I never thought you'd want to wear a G-shock for the "looks". Those resin blocks are hideous looking in my humble opinion. Most people I know who wear G-shock's are interested in the functions of the module more than the look. At least that's what the say. Great comparison in any event. Definitely a lot of compromise for the price but that is to be expected no matter what you're comparing.
Thanks. Definitely a lot of interest in the looks here, hence the production of multiple different modules with the same functions, not to mention multiple colour options for every model, as well as countless limited editions (which differ only in looks).

I put nasty scuffs on my Omega which can make me stop and look. I’ve never put a nasty scuff on a G-Shock because it’s rather difficult to do that… a fall off a motorbike maybe would?

Smael watches are very very bad quality
Why?
I have a Smael 1237 (Suunto type clone) and it works fine, as an everyday timepiece with basic functions. Looks quite nice too for $8.
Both junk. Maybe ok as a gift for a small child. They'd think it was cool. But if you're an adult with a shred of self-respect, please go for a gshock. Me personally, I just don't care for gshocks, but I respect them. Great comparison, btw.
