My friend in high school had a 78 long bed that was absolutly bullet proof, white, chrome wagon wheels, brown velvet bench seat, stick shift was straight up at a 90, loose as a goose and shifted so smooth, had so much fun cruising in that truck, I can still hear Livin' on a prayer by Bon Jovi out of those 6x9's d still gives me goose bumps.
Love the yellow. My '88 was originally yellow, but someone painted it white. '88 1 ton duel wheel box truck 22R-E 4cyl automatic with O/D 110,000 on the engine (engine replaced last year, because an employee at a local grocery store drove it overheating, and toasted the old engine) 154,000 on the truck. Just bought it at the beginning of the month $1,700.
Too cool- this was my first truck in HS. I put a holley carb, edelbrock intake, and hooker header on it. Shaved door handles, bed tie downs, and removed Toyota logo from bed with custom paint job. I miss that little truck as I had lots of good times in it.
Total flashback! Back in high school (85-86) I had a 76 longbed that I modified with weber carb, black jack header and a performance cam . That truck was light and toooo fast, i got my very first and only speeding ticket in that truck down by Lindo Lake. Yes I am from Lakeside, many times (1985-1988) my truck friends and I have cruised that very same road in this video. El Monte road holds a lot of great memories for me, watching this video placed me back.. Great video and Thank you....
I had a 1974 with 5 speed... I had mine 30 years until someone offered me the right price and I sold it... I loved my truck, I now own a 1980 4x4 Toyota pick up... it's in perfect condition, I love it too...
This 2nd and 3rd generation hiluxs are goddamn hardcore durable and reliable little trucks. I saw some them rusted but still running for public transportation goddamn in 2019.
A very good condition 1977 Toyota Hilux and l own a 1997 Toyota Hilux the Australian version with quater windows a carburator and no cat converter no emission regulations for commercial vehicles and it has done 437000 kilometres and still runs great its a keeper for me
Rest in peace to my father Leroy Stover Jr used to get up every Saturday morning to go get loaded wood and put on the back of my father's Toyota SR5 pickup long bed truck cold in the winter when we met. Money off that little truck
3:45 - as a horn should be - try and press down on the horn on some of these vehicles today & it's hard to do it without making it sound like a fog horn because you have to press down hard on the plastic (eg 2011 Dodge Grand Caravan )
I got a 77 chinook, repair shop says it needs complete brakes replaced quoted me 1400$, they also said I need steering work done as my wheel has much play. Can I use this as an opportunity to upgrade and pay the same for parts? What could be used as upgrade? Any info or ideas are greatly appreciated, thanks. Great truck !

I want one of these so bad, they look like fun lil trucks to drive and probably easy to mod
I'm constantly looking for these and people out here finding gems.

I remember so many logos reading "TOY" back then. Sounds like a cool ride you had. I had a chance to get one of these and got a car instead, why? smh.
