As a mechanic who works on various makes and models of cars I can't even count how many oil leaks I've diagnosed and the problem ends up being those Timing Chain Covers. They're a very common oil leak issue. I hope with these newer cars, manufacturers learned how to combat that better. I'm talking to you Ford and Toyota especially.
Good morning my friend, I am a humble engineer from Corinth Greece. I watch you and admire you for the perfection of your knowledge and for your successful diagnoses. Well done, well done, well done. My question is a question that I have been looking for an answer for years now and no one and no bibliography has the answer. Why the impellers on the fans of some cars, have different distances from each other ??. This is the question, I can not give a substantiated answer. Please, if you know the answer, give me at least your opinion. I admire you, George engineer from Corinth Greece. Thanks for being well.
Hello Peter thank you for the video.. do you recommend to change timing chain and camshaft sprocket and crankshaft sprocket while changing the gasket since it is a long process job ?? Or not necessary?
Mr Finn, I got an error (check engine) "P0170 Fuel Compensation" at Toyota Corolla 1.4 vvti from 2001. Please could you help me to resolve the problem?
That cover is still extremely dirty! A lot of old silicone sealer still trapped & visible on the cover. The way you use the knife on the aluminium cover is also very scary. You can easily cause indents with that knife all over the cover. What a poor job!
Why dont you do these jobs why the engine is still sitting in the car!? You always do easy videos..looking for a easy way out.do detailed videos with the engine sitting in the car so we can see how you take off the crankshaft pulley. Be a detailed man.
Peter, you saved me again! You're videos are helping this new generation of mechanics!
Thank you! Cheers!
Excellent work Peter!
Thank you! Cheers!👍👍😃

Thanks my Friend. 😃👍

My guess is it would be to either help stop harmonics or to reduce cavitation
Great video and great work
Thank you very much!
Is it necessary to remove the engine from that car to replace the timing chain cover gasket and the timing chain tensioner oil seal?
No, you don't need to remove the whole engine. The video is shown for people to see in 3D.
Great work 👍😀
Do you have also video's about toyota yaris en auris hybrid?
Good idea 👍😃
I realy appreciate it.
Is it necessary to remove the engine from that car to replace the timing chain cover gasket and the timing chain
Yes
Wow, this is a long work process! No wonder why it costs over $1000 at a shop for this.
I’m California. Toyota dealer quoted me $1,700.00
@@bloodangel9489 In Va, getting mine fixed right now $2500. luckily warranty is paying for it.
In Seattle they are asking $2500 😭
Hey Peter love your videos! Could you possible do one on replacing the keyless locking system in a 1998 plus corolla?
I will try to do video. 👍😁
How long does it take to change the gasket?

Try replacing the intake manifold gasket and the valve cover gasket. It could also be leaking fuel injector o-rings.
What if you don't want to remove the engine. Impact wrench is your friend?
Yes
Using a Brillo pad would be a lot easier. Adding a little contact cleaner on the Brillo pad will make it even easier.
Happy to help 👍😀
Does the engine have to come out
yes
Hey how do u remove the 19mm crank bolt ,with out the motor turning over ?
You have to insert gear to one. 👍👍
Definitely don’t scrape the basket off like that just go to harbor freight or something and get a cheap wire brush
Thanks for comment. 😃

Great to hear!
Scotchbrite pad might have been easier.
Good info !
Insane overuse of rtv. All that excess is gonna get into the oil pump and can clog so many things. A little is a lot
Good comment 😊👍

👍
THE PROPER WAY IS TO USE A GASKET SCRAPPER NOT A KNIFE!!!! YOU CAN RUIN SURFACE ,,, ITS A MACHINED SURFACE
Good info !
putty knife works good
Use Soap and a paint 🖌️ brushes to remove the 🟤
Noted 👍
