The show I loved most was "haunted history". They didn't try to prove a sighting by showing you "real" footage. They showed interviews with people who saw them and did a reconstruction of the event which was clearly just that. They gave history of the locations or the ghost in question with facts. They didn't push nothing in your face. Then the ghost hunting shows popped up with the "Blair witch" style documentary: "oh it's spooky here. Hey! Something just moved! Oh no! The ghost is angry!" Cue the shaking cameras and nervous glances and you see and hear nothing as a viewer. Next they often zoom in on something that could be flim grain, a few specks of dust in the air (or anything really) as an "orb". It's a shame because they once had excellent programming.

I mean if it is on TV, the trucker did not die. They did not jackknife and fall off a cliff...
It really was the exactly title show. There was Ice, sometimes a Road, and a Trucker.
They never called it "riveting" or "exciting". I wanted Tales of Terror: Ice Road Trucking (Uncensored)
cant believe that show ran for as long it did. Boring as hell
Disney Corp owns ABC and History channel. I'll leave that right here...
I keep telling people, Disney is skynet. No joke.
The History Channel along with A&E and Lifetime are part owned by Disney and Hearst.
and isnt there 666 in walt disneys signature ? ...hmm ..very telling
Damn
Ooohhhhhh....good observation.
The History Channel used to be my favorite channel on cable. Then it became what it is today, an unwatchable collection of “reality tv” and pseudo-science conjecture. It’s a real shame.
Who else came here to see the bearded charmer do something scandalous
Two of the biggest crooks ever pays an old man $25 for an item, turns around, sells it for $200 while laughing or snickering, and then the big emotional thank you and hugs to the old people after they load up, especially the fat little crook , just like the pawn shop appraised publicly for $3000 then offers him$500, claiming he has to clean it up and the very laboriously put it on the shelf, damn get real people!!

@@dirtydirt421 People know its not reality but nonetheless they find it entertaining and thats really all a tv show is supposed to do. It is ridiculous that they still call them reality shows though.
The only reality shows are Game Shows which by law have to be legit due to the scandals of the 50s of them scripting them.
History is an appropriate name for the channel, as it is *history* to me.... *NOT* into all that reality crap! Happy I gave up TV back in 2013
When I was a kid I remember leaning a lot about our world watching actual history programs. I haven’t watched that channel in years now, so sad.
There is absolutely nothing redeemable about reality tv, because it contains little if any actual "reality."
Reality is boring and depressing. Nobody wants to watch that. Not that im defending "reality" tv, its utter garbage.
ROFL! I like how American Pickers biggest scandal is that Frank drove drunk.
Forekast Whaddya doin Frankie!
Forekast and on bars 🤦♂️
Well they also rip people off who could use the money while they live in mansions.
Ghost Cookie how do thy rip ppl off? They r PICKERS it’s their job to buy ur junk & re-sell it for a profit! You don’t realize picking isn’t that easy.. you have to do ur research, know ur shit, find these places or ppl willing to sell anything, cuz most hoarders won’t! And then ur offering them a sum of money that’s reasonable to them, no one forces them to sell anything, & a lot of times ppl r so attached w their items sentimentally that they High-ball You! then who knows if you can even sell it for a profit or if ur lucky just break even sometimes. Not every pick is a goldmine. So u take all the risk. Plus who knows how much outta pocket cost if u have to refurbish an item too.. it’s def not a job for everyone, but if you love old vintage stuff, rare collectibles or neat antiques, & ur a good people person, it’s SO Great! Not everyone be ‘thievin’ is all I’m sayin.. 😉👍🏻✌🏻💜
@@WAX1138 dude they explain how much their junk is worth. its not like they go on a garage sale and buy a ps4 for 5$ just because the owner doesnt know what its worth, no they talk to the owners a bit about its worth.
i get the bias towards reality tv and history channel in general, but the pickers arent bad. they often just find vintage toys/stuff, even tell the owner the history of it. and when do find valuable stuff half the time the owner says no to their offer, even if they did offer hundreds of dollars.
Wait...so you’re telling me that those swamp people guys are a little weird?

This channel has as much history as A&E has arts and entertainment!
I remember when A&E had ballet programming.
I used to love the History Channel but then it turned into absolute crap. (Seems to be the fate of everything I like nowadays.) Thanks, reality t.v.!
@Heatalatur Is wolfenstein crap I was wondering?
@Heatalatur Maybe Cyberpunk will deliver what it's promising. I waited 4 years for Overkills The Walking Dead and then when they finally released the game play footage I knew it would be a pile of shit. There is a documentary on TH-cam called the greatest story never told it shows world war one and two from a German perspective you might find it interesting.
I really miss the History channel I grew up with. It's such a shame they've gone this way.
The History channel is awful now.i wish reality TV would go away for good
Considering how big of a grain of salt needed with your videos it is still entertaining to watch. Though I dont believe shit unless I look into it myself

Personally, I now understand why I stopped watching The History Channel: There are just no interesting programs to watch and learn and I am very disappointed. I guess I have to settle for reading history books instead.
Channels like History and Discovery shouldn't be allowed to show fictional content, period.
Exactly
whats the channel where they are always looking for ghosts, on every night. How about Ancient Aliens. Those people got rich, on all the fake books, and series. and on and on, and on.
So, who would be the authority to regulate them? The government can't keep their facts straight or run anything efficiently (PBS is state-run and needs donations) and media corporations follow trends of the least common denominator. Why do you think people don't have cable anymore. Vote with your feet and don't subscribe, they'll dry up.
I had my cable turned off a few months ago, not missing out on anything either.
Always hated cable. You can find all the programs on your phone.
Been 8 years for me
That's happening for me this week
5 years without, seems we're not missing much

I remember when the History channel was about history. I can also remember when CNN was about news. Both are now more like the national enquirer than anyting.
It’s more like most news networks.
CNN has ALWAYS been trash!
I can let the American Pickers guy get a pass... we all have bad days. seemed like he was troubled... nothing even remotely close to the rest of the channels issues...
Agreed. He's a lonely Danny Devito. I feel sorry for him.
Yes leave poor Frank alone. So he got fucked up one day, makes me like him more - shows he's a real person.
Frank bought my rusty trombone.
I really wouldn't even consider that a "scandal". Now if he got drunk, ran over some kids, and then screamed at the local news camera about how everything on the show was faked as hell when it came to rare finds....THAT would be a scandal. Not some poor guy getting a DUI.
I like the reality show American Nose Pickers.😁
"Back when facts had meaning..."
This is so true in all aspects of our reality now. I never thought anyone would have to argue the finer points of what makes a fact an actual fact. Truly difficult to fathom.

The History Channel is now... well, history! xD
It might be included in future history books as the once great history channel. lol
I stopped watching the History Channel more than 20 year ago when it morphed into reality bs shows.
Everything turns to bs when it devolves into reality tv. Remember when TLC was actually called the Learning Channel?
I have a BA in history so I can’t tell you how disappointed I am in the History Channel. It should be called “The Anything BUT History Channel.” Really how is there any integrity in a Channel that has “Ancient Aliens” as a show??????? 😳🙄😆
AND IF SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!! Bahahahahahahaha. a lot of money has been made.
The Irony is that Reality shows are anything but real
Even when it was the actual History Channel, much of their "history programming" was inadequately researched usually using a single source.
Mysteries at the Museum was a great show...
The History Channel has much to do with history like MTV is a channel showing music videos.
History channel was great back in the early 2000's...they tried changing with the times, and ended up losing everything that made people want to watch at all: History.
you liked it better when it was all Hitler all the time ??
Same exact thing with the Discovery channel.
I really do miss the old History channel. When I was in my teens a bit over a decade ago, the History channel used to be my go to, it's what jump started my love of history and geography. Unfortunately, basically none of that remains.
