It's sad that now the country Australia or the original creator and distributor of 'UGH boots' cant make or sell UGG shoes themselve. UGH/Ugg boots refers to flat heel, pull on, Sheepskin boots in Australia. They have been making and wearing it since 1920s and before. It's like household name, generic name that anyone can use word 'UGG' for sheepskin boots in Australia. But as surfing popularised ' Ugg boots' outside Australia and New Zealand. The smart one in U.S trademark the name 'UGG' and now its Brand name owned by Giant Deckers. Before it was sold under the name Original Australian Ugg Boot, UGG Australia. But now it's just UGG brand. It's like you are not allowed to say ur own country's language/word, in ur own country, which you have been speaking for ages. As it is already stolen by wealthy clever people.

    Quite thought provoking.
On the one hand it is amazing to see the entire operations of the business happen in Australia, which is why I bought from them and will continue to do so.
On the other hand it seems in order to survive as a company they have had to get very 'creative' with marketing and completely leave the roots of what UGG boots are by creating a tacky 'high fashion' image in order to reach a wider market by reducing the bogan stigma of wearing UGG boots outside and audaciously trying to re-imagine them as a luxury fashion item LOL.
What would the surfers who first utilized these boots to keep their feet warm when they came out of the surf have to say about this extremely vain and capitalistic path?
Would they be pleased that the UGG boot has survived by capitalizing on vanity and marketing or would they have preferred the UGG boot to stay obscurity with soul intact?

Lol it’s just a shoe… and surfers weren’t the 1st to wear them, which was in the 80’s. It started in the 60’s, probably even before that as a very crude footwear. And surfers doesn’t own the legacy of these boots, Australia as a whole does!

Ugg isn’t a brand, but a generic term for a type of shoe originated in Australia mad eout of sheepskin. The Ugg Australia brand ha snothing to do with Australia except the name. The original founder who brought Ugg to CA was an Aussie surfer, but it’s all made in China now, like most things because it’s cheaper, so neither Australian made nor Australian owned. What you pay for is the “brand”, an overpriced low quality Ugg boot compared to other Australian owned and Australian made brands. I’ve had Ugg Australia, and they ended up in the garbage after one wear. My Emu Australia, and Jumbo Ugg boots, still going strong after almost 10+ years. Wouldn’t say fake, just not authentic in neither name nor manufacturing processes as they don’t use Australian Merino Wool fleece. You wanna buy Uggs? Support Australian made brands!

they can't do anything as long as they are only sold in Australia because they don't own the trademark to "Ugg" here, only "UGG". bunch of copyright trolls and bullies, they may as well have tried to trademark "coffee" or "boots". shame the rest of the world fell for their bullshit.

Hi Laura, thanks for your important question. Nowhere on our boots do we have made in Vietnam as we only hand make all of our UGG Boots here in Australia. There are however many other brands under the name 'UGG' who do not make their UGGs in Australia. You can read more about the confusion between all the brands online here in our blog post: www.uggsince1974.com.au/blogs/news/why-are-there-so-many-ugg-companies-and-websites

It is a bit disappointing that you use paper or cardboard and glue instead of the original way of all sheepskin and sewing the boot to the heel.
