We always called it the Chicago bridge Before the brigade was built the Irish living on one side, the germans living on the other would insult each other on the edge of the river. My great great grandfather came to Chicago in 1850 from Pennsylvania and fought in the union army. When the Chicago fire happened the ran to lake Michigan to save themselves. My family still lives there and my grandmother was born on Wentworth Avenue in 1912 and she loved Chicago . My grandfather being born in Chicago 1879 loved Chicago too .

I walked on that bridge upper & lower for 5 years when I worked in the Wrigley Building. Best years of my life!
