Thank you because they destroyed journalism at this for obvious reasons, like the international court said in what are their genocidal intentions, they made mad hamas basically, it is a O C U P A T I O N!!!, Egypt warned them that it would happen, of course they knew it, they NEEDED THAT TO HAPPEN, think !, you can not be innocent in this age, unfortunately many of us are young, and it is not our fault, to be influenced and manipulated, i mean they have influence on the media massively, and are infiltrated in the gov system, to the point of the ''left vs right'' make no sense, making them to serve them first, over their on people, one day you will see it their social engineering, playing with our feeling to push you in their direction, THE POWERFUL over the powerless, i mean how they control the electricity of that entire region ?, long before the mad Zionist cynical plan and the made mad hamas ? that because the palestinian did let them right ?.

As a Palestinian living in the West Bank, this is the first time I listen to real uncensored Israeli voices since 7th so props to channel 5. Though I was anxious the whole time hoping to sense someone’s empathy towards us. I guess I was trying to find a glimpse of hope. I never knew if we are humans in their eyes.

    • @IsraeliDino
      @IsraeliDino หลายเดือนก่อน +581

As an American-Israeli living in Israel, of course you are humans in our eyes. Just as I'd hope we are in yours. The problem is that pain and emotion get in the way and lead to more black and white worldviews where extremism can help justify atrocities. I've gotta ask you, honestly, in your opinion - how do you view us Israelis? I know that sadly a lot of the people I know lost hope and empathy for you guys after October 7th...we are led to believe that most of you support Hamas though I really hope this isn't true. I still believe peace is achievable in the long run but a very long-term plan must be put in place, and the leadership on both our sides has to want it to work above all. My dream is for an independent Palestinian state in the West Bank and Gaza alongside our already existing Israel, for I don't see any other stable result other than that. Like, it's bound to happen that way in the end, I feel. Do you think most Palestinians would be content with that? How many have let Hamas and the other extremist beliefs rule their hearts? Will a Palestinian country actually lead to peace in the end? I sure hope so.

From a selfish point of view, killing 40,000 people in an area where 2 million people live without being able to leave is not the best way to avoid a conflict, either now or in the future. There are Israelis who're incredibly dedicated to building peace, there are things such as the women's march for peace and the advocacy for palestinian prisoners movements that aim to bring people together and correct injustice, but an actual peace process is impossible as long as Hamas is the ruling authority in Gaza, and as long as the PLO is incapable of managing the territories it's supposed to

Noam Chomsky really said it beast sooooo many years ago....
Excerpted from Chronicles of Dissent, 1992
QUESTION: One of your books, The Fateful Triangle, focuses specifically on the Middle East, and I was wondering if you could talk about your position on a possible two-state solution to the Palestinian question.
CHOMSKY: I don’t think that’s the optimal solution, but it has been the realistic political settlement for some time. We have to begin with some fundamentals here. The real question is: there are plainly two national groups that claim the right of self-determination in what used to be Palestine, roughly the area now occupied by Israel minus the Golan Heights, which is part of Syria.
So there are two national groups which claim national self-determination. One group is the indigenous population, or what’s left of it - a lot of it’s been expelled or driven out or fled. The other group is the Jewish settlers who came in, originally from Europe, later from other parts of the Middle East and some other places. So there are two groups, the indigenous population and the immigrants and their descendants. Both claim the right of national self-determination. Here we have to make a crucial decision: are we racists or aren’t we? If we’re not racists, then the indigenous population has the same rights of self-determination as the settlers who replaced them. Some might claim more, but let’s say at least as much right. Hence if we are not racist, we will try to press for a solution which accords them - we’ll say they are human beings with equal rights, therefore they both merit the claim to national self-determination. I’m granting that the settlers have the same rights as the indigenous population; many do not find that obvious but let’s grant it. Then there are a number of possibilities. One possibility is a democratic secular society. Virtually nobody is in favor of that. Some people say they are, but if you look closely they’re not really. There are various models for multi-ethnic societies, say Switzerland or whatever. And maybe in the long run these might be the best idea, but they’re unrealistic.
The only realistic political settlement, for the time being, in the past ten or twelve years, that would satisfy the right of self-determination for both national groups is a two-state settlement. Everybody knows what it would have to be: Israel within approximately the pre-June 1967 borders and a Palestinian state in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip, and a return of the Golan Heights to Syria, or maybe some other arrangement. This would be associated with maybe demilitarized zones and international guarantees of some sort or another, but that’s the framework of a possible political settlement. As I say, I don’t think it’s the best one, but that’s the realistic one, very realistic. It’s supported by most of the world. It’s supported by Europe, by the Soviet Union, has been for a long time, by almost all the non-aligned countries, it’s supported by all the major Arab states and has been for a long time, supported by the mainstream of the PLO and, again, has been for a long time, it’s supported even by the American population, by about two to one according to the polls. But there are also people who oppose it. It’s opposed by the rejection front in the Arab world, the minority elements of the PLO, Libya, a few others, minority rejectionist elements, but crucially it’s opposed by the leaders of the rejection front, namely the United States and Israel. The United States and Israel adamantly oppose it. The United States will not consider it. Both political groupings in Israel reject it totally. They reject any right of national self-determination for the indigenous popula- tion in the former Palestine. They can have Jordan if they want, or the former Syria, or something, but not the area that they now hold under military occupation. In fact they’re explicit about it. There are carefully fostered illusions here that the Labor Party is interested in compromise over the issue. But if you look closely, there’s no meaningful compromise. The position of the Labor Party remains what was expressed by their representative, who is now President, Chaim Herzog, who said that “no one can be a partner with us in a land that has been holy to our people for 2000 years.” That’s the position. They’re willing to make minor adjustments. They don’t want to take care of the population in the West Bank, because there are too many Arabs; they don’t want a lot of Arabs around, so what they would like to do is take the areas and the water and the resources they want from the West Bank but leave the population, either stateless or under Jordanian control. That’s what’s called a “compromise solution.” It’s a very cynical proposal, even worse in many respects than annexation. But that’s called here compromise and the reason is that we are again educated elites in the United States and national discussion takes a strictly racist view of this. The Palestinians are not human, they do not deserve the rights that we accord automatically to the settlers who displaced them. That’s the basis of articulate American discussion: pure, unadulterated racism. Again, that’s not true of the population, as usual, but it is of the politically active and articulate parts of it and certainly the government. As long as the United States and Israel reject the political settlement, there can’t be one.
There certainly have been very plausible opportunities for a political settlement over many years, in fact, just to mention a few which have disappeared from history because they’re too inconvenient: in February 1971 President Sadat of Egypt offered a full peace treaty to Israel on the pre-June 67 borders. In accordance with official American policy, incidentally, but not operative policy, offering nothing to the Palestinians, he didn’t even offer them a Palestinian state, nothing. Nevertheless Israel rejected it, and the United States backed them in that rejection. In January 1976 Syria, Jordan and Egypt, the so-called “confrontation states,” made a proposal in the U.N. Security Council for a two-state settlement with international guarantees and territorial rights secured and so on. That was backed and even prepared by the PLO, supported by the Soviet Union and most of the world. It was vigorously opposed by Israel, which even boycotted the session, in fact, it bombed Lebanon in retaliation against the United Nations, killing about 50 people, no excuse at all, just a fit of anger, “We’re going to kill anybody who gets in our way if you push this,” and the United States vetoed it. There have been a series of such things ever since. The United States has always blocked them and Israel has always refused them, and that means there’s no political settlement. Rather there is a state of permanent military confrontation. That’s aside from what it means to the Palestinians, which is obvious and terrible; it’s very bad for Israel. It’s leading to their own destruction, in my view, certainly to their economic collapse and moral degeneration and probably, sooner or later, their physical destruction, because you can’t have a state of military confrontation without a defeat sooner or later. It’s leading the world very close to nuclear war, repeatedly. Every time we have an Arab-Israeli conflict - and there will be more of them, as long as we maintain a military confrontation - the Soviet Union and the United States come into confrontation. Both are involved. The Soviet Union is close by, it’s not like Central America, it’s a strategic region right near their border, they’re involved; it’s very far from us but it’s a strategic region for us because of the oil nearby, primarily. So we’re involved, the fleets come into confrontation, it’s very close. In 1967 it came very close to nuclear war and it will again. So it’s very dangerous, it’s the most likely spot where a nuclear war would develop, but we are pursuing it, because we don’t want a political settlement. The United States is intent on maintaining a military confrontation.

@@samuelroth544 With all due respect, you might have seen this video, but I don’t think you really watched it. if you actually paid attention, you’d realize that the Israeli protestors are saying that that they are protesting *against* the occupation. The IDF was justified in trying to take out Hamas - a classified *terrorist* organization that were responsible for the kidnappings - but the people take issue with the indiscriminate attacks on civilians and just want a deal to be made to end it altogether and save the hostages. (To the former point, it is admittedly hard not to hit Gazan civilians when Hamas, the territory’s leadership, intentionally makes their bases in hospitals, schools, and shopping centers, and fires rockets from refugee camps, just to use their people as political meat shields.)
It is perfectly justifiable to take issue with the current policies of Israel, but from how you parrot language such as “fascism” and “genocide”, it’s clear that you take issue with Israel’s existence altogether. That’s the most fascinating thing of all.

For all the commenters asking "why is no one there mentioning Palestinians":
The protest this was filmed at is one of many many protests that are all about solidarity with the hostage families, and are aimed at the Israeli government. to most if not all the protesters, it's obvious that Netanyahu and his murderous government have as much to do as Hamas with the hostages dying and rotting in the Hamas tunnels. what they're all asking for is a hostage deal, that would of course include a ceasefire or the end of the war. The feeling of betrayal by our own government, that has so much blood on its' hands, is overwhelming. most of these protests, especially the ones that are more about stopping the war and protesting the government itself, have the Anti-Occupation block.
So some of these protesters do have the Palestinian people on their mind specifically, some are more right wing, but all are opposing the way this war is going, and wanting a safer and quieter future for our people, with a government that values life. that obviously includes some state solution that includes Palestinians.
However, Palestinians and the war in general are not the topics of this protest- the hostages are. that's why they're only talking about them.
Personally I really wish for a peaceful resolution to this conflict that ends the occupation and lets both people get on with their damn life without constantly fearing death. Amen

This won't stop with Netanyahu being out of power. The whole settler colonialist project of Israel is based on ethnic cleansing and it's gonna take more than just a change of prime minister for this to end. Don't forget that the Nakba was done way, way before Netanyahu. You would think that all of the talks about bringing the hostages home would evoke some sort of empathy with the tens of thousands of civilians who are murdered but apparently not. But, it's good that people understand that Netanyahu and his government doesn't care about the people, just about the money and the power. That's why the USA is allowing Israel to continue.

I don't even know what this means; it isn't necessary to be a leftist to accept the plethora of evidence for the civilian cost of the IDF's campaign over the last year, which your government doesn't care to scale back and which has broad support in your country. Zionism is literally Jewish nationalism, too, and it's a young idea, practically contemporary to Arab and Palestinian nationalism, so it is pretty suspect to cast aspersions on people who profess to it.
"if the only thing they knew about you is that you’re Israeli they would tell you to go to Poland"
What I have actually seen is rather pointed criticism of nonsense talking points like "most of the dead are Hamas fighters" and "releasing Palestinian hostages is just letting jihadis loose". I mentioned a very real phenomenon of settlers who fly in from the US or Europe, arrive in the West Bank and squat in Palestinian houses with impunity, and yes, I would say that they should go back home. I cannot speak for comments I haven't seen, but given that I'm referring to a real criminal phenomenon, I do wonder what your opposition to it would be if any.
"if you say you don’t want to live under a Palestinian state they would call you a Zionist for not bending far enough for them."
This is a false dichotomy, you're saying that the choices available are a Jewish apartheid ethnostate or a Palestinian one. You're positing that, were Israel as a polity (not as a place) ceased to exist, it would immediately lead to Palestinians running roughshod and enacting the Nakba on you. But its really not complex. Its like Ireland with the England. Its like South Africa. Its like the the tribes in north and south America. Its like all the many countries brutally colonized throughout the world.
The only difference is its happenjng today and has been happening for 75 years. And its fully backed by the West who are supposed to represent international law and democratic values. Its not just one bad leader in Israel. Its imbedded in the very foundational DNA of what makes Israel. Zionism is founded as a colonialist project and has used genocide and ethnic cleansing and terrorism to assert dominance over the Arabs.

@@yassinedjebbari4819 it's funny to me that when someone tells the history of Israel they are called antisemitic... I feel many terms need to be defined for them.
Palestinians are people whose ancestry and lineage is within the boundaries of the land known as Palestine. All three abrahamic religions are represented within this definition.
A Muslim is a person who believes in Islam which is an abrahamic religion most common in the middle east.
Zionism is a colonial ideology and political movement
Judaism is an abrahamic religion that is traced back to the region as well.
Terrorism is the use of violence against mostly civilian populations to enact political change.
Genocide is the mass murder of civilians through systematic means.
There are many more terms I feel people should learn about before getting to use a bullhorn on this subject.
I will say it's infuriating when you write up facts based on actual evidence and historical context and you're called an antisemite by a person who doesn't even know any or straight up ignores the evidence and historical context.
When they say this is a confusing conflict that has been waged for two thousand years and talk about Zionism like it's Judaism and Palestinians like it's Islam and Israel as "the only democracy in the middle east".

The fact that you think this is “not complex” is utterly baffling. But Gen z is completely broken, with rigid binary black/white oppressor/oppressed dogma completely devoid of nuance, history, humanity, and human experience. It’s born out of being raised by the dystopian hellscape of the internet, tiktok and every warped social media psyop paying dividends to the Qatari propaganda machine that makes aipac look like Craigslist. The generation is irreparably broken, morally confused, intellectually bankrupt and seething with contempt and dying for violence. It’s a modern version of sado-masochism from leftist’s self flagellating and virtue signaling while simultaneously lobbing verbal garbage and slogans their Columbia professor with the ponytail told them. They’re not taught to think, they’re taught WHAT to think.

Military service is mandatory in Israel (for both genders), if he wanted to avoid it he would have to either go to jail or fake a mental illness that prevents him from serving. There are many roles in the military that don't involve holding a gun, many positions are doing basic office work or driving people around.

You would think that after all of the groundwork channel 5 has laid, people would not generalize and associate the views of people interviewed in this video with random other people, understanding that everybody's worldview and focus is influenced by their environment and their own reality that they live. We have the benefit of seeing everything from far away but these people are seeing missiles fly over their heads constantly and half of them are mandatorily conscripted into military service. I don't think it's that surprising that they're worried about changing their government and ending the war when this is their experience.
