This has given me renewed interest in rF2. I spent more than a couple of hours today having real fun. It actually made me feel I could drive well enough to compete. Thanks for making the point about tires. I think the game feels good.
@@RonaldRegain This is just simply not true. People naturally gravitate to AC because of the wealth of content, regardless of actual quality, and regardless of how accurately modeled it is. Modders moved to AC because when ISI initially released rFactor 2 in beta over a decade ago modders quickly realized that because of the expanded physics, and physically modeled tires, creating relatively accurately modeled content required being a legitimate engineer, and on top of that, all that was given in terms of any sort of explanation on how modding rF2 actually worked was extremely cryptic documentation that nobody except for a handful of people could really figure out. For some reason people think that motorsport games created rFactor 2. rFactor 2 is a product of Image Space Incorporated, a company based out of Ann Arbor, Michigan, and the same company responsible for a bunch of og racing games like the original rFactor and EA F1. in 2016 ISI decided to partner with the Dutch company Luminis, forming the company known as Studio 397, that's two years before Motorsport games would even be founded. Sure Motorsport games is a pretty questionable company, but Studio 397 and rFactor 2 are not products of Motorsport games.
This is an awesome addition to RF2. I've owned the game for years now and still do play it from time to time but only ever the single player options since when I've tried the multiplayer side of things, it's been absolutely terrible. Going to give it a go now and see how well it works.
Same. I can't fix the grainy ffb on my fanatec gt dd pro. It will be ok for 1 race then something happens and it feels grainy after practice or qualy after reloading onto track
RF2 has never felt so alive in… well the golden age of RF1, I dare say! Look, I hope the player count stays high, it has to! Please reach out to everyone out there and try it :)
Nice (sort of 😂) shout out to Michi Hoyer who definitely deserves more subscribers. That guy gives so much to the community - especially as a live streamer, commenting as he drives in really high level esports races. Sometimes he's seemed to be on his own a bit proselytising for rf2, but the game deserves all the love it gets (and ok, some of the hate too; ! ). LFM was already a good platform for rf2 but ok somewhat fiddly. Having everything in the game directly makes so much more sense.
He is a legend , also I spent quite a bit of time this year with him doing formula E events , a genuinely nice guy helped me with trains in Berlin and just great to hang around with ☕👍.
Everything you said in this video is what I told the guys in our country's rF2 group chat after trying this out :) and now I feel kinda proud to be the first to tell everyone about the beta, and to test it out first! I was there to say that it's friggin awesome - finally what we've waited for! I too stayed for hours, raced 3 races back to back instead of going to bed after a single event... I think this racing system is going to stick it through. I think that the playerbase will expand, and we'd be getting several different events per hour, because when you consistently run hundreds of players an hour (divided to several splits per race) you can spread your player base over multiple separate events. That's just growth! My only caveat was not being able to send a pm to a fellow driver through the online system. After a long battle someone took me off the road by mistake and I just wanted to thank him for the lovely race and didn't mind the accident as he obviously felt bad and waited for me to rejoin the race :) You can file a complaint about unsportsmanlike behavior etc, hopefully they will enforce and manage the races, hoping for the best there. Time will tell. It's been a lot of fun seeing this simulator slowly and regularly improves over the last two or so years. I stopped playing AC the day I tried rF2, couldn't go back to AC's physics and ffb. (But damn AC looks so much better, and there are still loads of different kinks that we all wish studio397 already fixed in rF2.)
Isn't it mind-boggling that you can naturally drive this sim from the first time you try it? There is no "top ten iRacing hacks" or "best cheat-codes" or any silly nonesense. If you know how to drive a car you'll be able to drive rF2.
@@jahshjahsh2002 That was exactly my first impression of it. I was thinking “here we go again” with wheel settings, mods, general setup, etc. Thought it would be a nightmare, especially because the game has been around for a while. It was the complete opposite. After some quick configuration, I was on the track. Game felt really nice right away, really fun to drive.
@@jahshjahsh2002 Yeah, honestly, rF2 and AMS1 have been the only sims I've ever gotten that feeling with every car. AMS2 is getting there but not quite yet.
Yeah, I like the idea of the colors for license. Safety rating as a # would be just fine so whatever but having license levels that are not a number to chase is I think a nice idea. Won’t matter anyways unless the uptake is enough you actually get multiple splits per race. On LFM at the moment everything is generally in a single split for rf2 so ranking level matters nothing except for safety rating.

Thankyou for bringing this to my attention, GM. I've always wanted to join iRacing for the online racing, but always baulked at its current subscription model. But I also mainly ignored rFactor 2 due to it's (original) outdated UI layout. making it frustrating to set up a simple race. But this sounds right up my ally (ouch ; ). So I'll definitely have to check it out when I get a chance. Happy tea-drinking GM. [;]-)
I ran that same Radical event yesterday and the car was right-hand drive... 😁 which was probabaly why I came almost last (yeah like being on the left would've helped) I did finish it though and when I became a back marker I politely moved out of the way 😉
couldn't find any pace with this radical car too (but I think it's more related to the track's specificities), was losing too much time on the main straight (and this last couple of corners were so tricky to exit properly...), and still I was in a left-hand drive... :)
Thank you for this video. I remember watching the trailer the other day but didn't know I could play it right now, might've missed that in the trailer. Downloaded it after watching this. I gotta say, having only booted up the game once before, it was a pain in the ass to set up for some reason, not the beta but setting up the wheel (update your fanatic drivers if you feel the grainy ffb, and make sure you have auto clutch on). However, after proper setup, the multiplayer is very fun. Full lobbies, good clean racing (for the most part) and fun to drive. Still gotta get used to the driving physics as I basically only play iracing, but really looking forward to see how this goes. Hopefully gets more populated as it comes out of beta cause I'm enjoying it so far. Can't wait to get to the gt3s. I saw Daytona was on the schedule and would love to try gt3s Daytona so I can better compare to iracing.

I'd really like to like this, but so far . . . . Last week it was typically refusing to connect to the server -- ok, beta, I get it. But when I do get connected, both the wheel ("grainy vibrations," as someone said below) and the handling (kind of disconnected swimming?) are not enjoyable. Not at all. I’m from Indonesia and we had some amazing close racing at over 200 ping. As long as your internet is stable, touches won’t send someone to the shadow realm. It also detects warping and disables collision for a few seconds if it happens.
@@zepos Yes i have a very stable connection, my ping is 300, cars tend to warp and rubber band, its still playable but not a very smooth experiance for me anyway.
Just looked at the DLC and I'll pass. Not trying to sign my bank account away to have the car of the week every week. Gimme a bundle with absolutely everything and let me decide.
While the DLCs are a bit pricey, RF2 has done discounts on bundles. You only need to own one of the cars in a series and time will tell if we really need many DLC cars.

Amd user? They add a fix in this Relase candidate ❤
@@ducat7493 Nah, nvidia... I've spend hours upon hours following the 'fixes' it just doesn't run... :(
Is racing with others on high ping unplayable?
Not at all. I’m from Indonesia and we had some amazing close racing at over 200 ping. As long as your internet is stable, touches won’t send someone to the shadow realm. It also detects warping and disables collision for a few seconds if it happens.
Yes I'm in Australia and its pretty much unplayable 😥
@@X1erra Nice I'm close to Indonesia and got stable ping so it's nice to hear it works relatively well.
@@forsaleau how much ping you get and what issue do you face the most? Would you say you have stable Internet?
@@zepos Yes i have a very stable connection, my ping is 300, cars tend to warp and rubber band, its still playable but not a very smooth experiance for me anyway.
Just looked at the DLC and I'll pass. Not trying to sign my bank account away to have the car of the week every week. Gimme a bundle with absolutely everything and let me decide.
While the DLCs are a bit pricey, RF2 has done discounts on bundles. You only need to own one of the cars in a series and time will tell if we really need many DLC cars.
It's free content
Rookie is free content, now u just need 1 car and the track to race. Wait for sales to buy packs at very intresting price. U have 8 BTCC cars and 4 track for 30€...
Awesome
MSG doing something good for once? Wtf
To be fair they did sell the nascar license as well however they most likely just did that out of necessity to survive.
