We need Real Racing to make a huge comback, but unfortunately huge layoffs of the studio means we're never gonna see an RR4. RR3 is such a weird game to talk about in the racing community despite how solid of a literal racing game it is. Ignoring the physics and gameplay the gameplay progression itself is actually better than most modern racing games, this is a decade old mobile racing games with better progression than modern racing games on PC and console... that says a lot.

Real Racing 3 killed the franchise with a freemium system and a borderline Sisyphean progression system. I’m not downloading another Real Racing game unless it has a premium model to keep the 8 year olds that make up 90% of the community, and I’m especially not downloading any mobile game made by those extortionate game developers at Electronic Arts.

I played AR for 5 years, and i was totally addicted to the game. I had every car in the game and played all day with my friends. The nurburgring x mclaren update was an amazing era of the game, and showed that AR could indeed be a big game...
At that time the game basically consisted of playing, earning money, buying cars and racing in multiplayer, and that was actually fun, nothing new was released in the game, but we ignored it because we loved the game... but from there it was all downhill. in the Porsche update, in which only the Taycan and 930 could be purchased at the dealership, And all the others were imports, it started to discourage me from the game. I had been playing for 4 years at the time, I spent all my money and couldn't get anything cool, and a person who had just downloaded the game won a mclaren f1.
The community created expectations for the next updates, sometimes with a photo posted on Twitter, but the update that came was always disappointing. When they posted the photo of Tokyo expressway, it had been a long time since any update, and everyone thought it would be a road like C1 or Shuto, or a track on a Tokyo highway, like in Gran Turismo 7, but when it was released, I couldn't play it for 2 days. The track took 50 seconds to a lap and looked like a kart track.
at that time, someone got into my account and sold all my cars, I contacted the devs who asked me to do a list of my cars, but it's been 2 years since anyone answered me. in all these 5 years I saw the community giving ideas to the devs about what could be added to the game, but literally nothing has been added in the last few years. They ignored all the community's ideas to invest in ways to make money like subscriptions and imports. this definitely killed the game for me and for anyone who played the game since then. really sad the fate this game had.

This game still lacks lots of contents for players to play longer. I don't mind to do time attack on racetrack, which is still the main mode in this game, but this game lacks tracks. They introduced some classic Group C cars, but LeMans is not here. They also introduced Castrol Supra GT500, but Suzuka, Okayama, Autopolis and Twin Ring Motegi are not here.
For the cars, I forgive them for not releasing that many of European and American manufacturers, since they said getting license is a problem. But it's still slow for them to just add some JDMs into the game.

For example, they added Castrol Supra GT500 '97 long time ago, but where are the Mobil 1 NSX GT500 '98 and Pennizoil GT-R R33 GT500 '98. Those are born in the same era and use basically the same technical rules (if you look at their rear wings, you'll find all of them add small flaps on the outside of the rear wing. This design could only find on 97 and 98 season and was got banned in 99 season)

This is one of the best AR related videos I’ve seen yet, I can see how much work you poured into this video to make it and upload it so really well done.
(Also I’m quite surprised that you managed to find my message about my ban and others lmao).
I would also like to mention or just correct some more points about the video and the issues of the game
    Firstly, you forgot about the
Aoyama Touge which was even worse than Fuji Speedway in terms of playability because it could lag a lot and easily crash as well on a lot of phones, it’s easily the worst optimized track in the game.
Secondly, about the contents part I wouldn’t say it wasn’t “enough”, I believe there was in fact enough but what made it not enough was the fact that most cars were locked behind the imports anyway and not everyone can be guaranteed to have the new cars, so in the end if you tried to pull for the imports and didn’t get the new cars, you pretty much have zero new contents to play with because you didn’t even get them in the first place.
Finally, literally every gacha games or at least every successful or still alive gacha games have what it’s called a “pity” system which puts a guarantee on a limited or highest tier of the content after a certain number of pulls which helps a lot for people to be sure to get it and try it out, a thing that is literally absent in AR which means you couldn’t even be sure when you’ll even get the rarest contents and if you even have enough of the currency to get it.
That’s all. Again the video is really good and is to be honest probably the best AR video I’ve seen yet. I’d appreciate it if you could pin this comment so people can see the other issues that the game has.

I played both Real Racing 3 and Assoluto Racing in separate times, so I feel heavily interested to bring out my yappacino on this one.
_Seriously, it's a giant yappacino because of so many things in my thoughts at the time I write this._
Two big racing games, two most revered racing games by fans. One actual thing they have in common is being "Free To Install", which mobile games usually are, but different compared to games set out on Console and PC where you have to buy the game first to install.
I'll speak on my experience regarding these two racing games.
Starting with Assoluto Racing, the main subject of the video, I played this game in 2016 when the game was released. It was the greatest or even better alternative for my weaker phone during that time, as I wanted to play Real Racing 3 but couldn't do so with storage issues. The physics feel alot more different, all of which are mentioned in the video, and so are the customizations. To get the cars, I have to buy the cars that cost either Credits or Golds. However that year was also short, since in my personal life I have switched to a different hobby. Fast forward to 2020 with newer phone (although said phone was released in 2019 and relatively cheaper one…) there were quite some changes as mentioned. Physics, and especially the way to get the more premium cars are by testing your luck with gacha system. I completely stopped playing the game when the newer touges were added, as they were less optimized and my phone couldn't handle it. Despite how I describe in this paragraph, it was a cherishable experience before the game goes into its actual state. It really could have been on Gran Turismo levels of realistic in terms of the physics and may be the tunings.
    _More in the replies…_

    • @barkyonyx424b
      @barkyonyx424b 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

Now with Real Racing 3, which I still actively played from 2020 until now. I apologize for this one paragraph being longer beforehand, as I have way more history with this game.
The game being produced by FireMonkeys and especially EA, it sure felt alot more difficult to progress through the game, due to the newer cars being more and more expensive.
Take note that the game has been since developed by Slingshot Games in India, after the big layoff which happened at FireMonkeys in Australia last year.
The game, although felt alot more encouragedly monetized, players have made the complete guide on how to progress the game in Main Career Series from Amateur, the earliest series to Legend, the last series. Said guide is made by user DPWang74 on Real Racing 3 wiki. Thanks to the strategy, the game can be played without spending a dime, although it's time consuming.
There are also RR3 Content Creators dedicated to the game on youtube, featuring ME7 and RR3 SpeedMaster. Useful and entertaining to stay in touch with.
On the actual topic of experience, the game feels really big. Starting with the tutorial, which you were applied with complete assists of Braking, Steering, and Traction Control, so you don't have the actual game experience yet. As you progress, you start out with slower cars, progressing eventually to the fastest cars of course.

    • @barkyonyx424b
      @barkyonyx424b 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

The way you can get cars are by dealership, events, and paying actual money with "Recommended Packs" that occasionally come up.
But here's the thing on the events, sometimes the events require upgrades ("Required PR") therefore more expensive to get, but some events are more challenging with the upgrades not being mandated, that is called "Recommended PR".
Compared to Assoluto Racing's premium cars import system, you might end up spending more than predicted thanks to the percentage of luck. But with some of Real Racing 3's events, it all counts with your skills, by how far you can go before needing upgrades to complete a goal in the said event.
On the physics, Assoluto Racing is indeed superior even despite how far down it has come into compared to Real Racing 3.
To put it simply with Real Racing 3's physics: "heavily exaggerated physics while being 'simulation' oriented with real tracks".
Your cars are glued to the track, some stats are not even accurate on the paper and even felt better or worse on track, very few stats are even outright false for such type of car! (Here's a big example: the 2021 Bentley Continetal GT Speed: It has a grip stat of 1.80g at default, to put it in perspective: a 2014 Toyota TS040 LMP1 has that same exact grip on default).
With Assoluto Racing, it's a full blown simulation with physics such as the understeer-oversteer, trail braking and throttle appliance amount, jumps, etc.

    • @barkyonyx424b
      @barkyonyx424b 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

Until now, regarding the playerbase, it seemed like Real Racing 3 is just doing decent with updates bringing out new cars every month, while Assoluto Racing… it's as you adressed in the whole video.
Fans wanted a true racing simulation on the phone, some games fell into obscurity or even failed. Grid Autosport mobile simply is obscure as it is "Pay To Install" despite its simulation-like physics and no further payment or so, while Assetto Corsa has failed us mobile playerbase by being iOS only AFAIK. I'm not sure on the note how is Racing Master doing, so I'd be glad to know.
      To conclude,
I played both racing games of Real Racing 3 and Assoluto Racing, two mobile racing games. While simulation oriented, they offer vastly different experiences on how you progress through the game and how you have fun with the rest of the game. Different pros and cons, these two are ultimately a little bit too different to even actually compare on which one do you enjoy more.
But with everything said in the video earlier, I too among many players hope for Assoluto Racing to fix every issue adressed and be back to where it used to be enjoyable and progress into a better game as time goes on.
With all being said, thank you for taking your time to sip on the giant mfin yappacino, I apologize if I have said something wrong here.
And very well done video on how you describe everything from the history and present situation, looking forward to see your channel's growth, hell maybe even make big money out of it.

Man. So much FACTS dropped in this video, god damn. The game is definitely in a inactive state, looks like devs are just interested in money nowadays, the fact that a SUBSCRIPTION plan is a thing, while having such a incomplete game, blows my mind. Looks like they just deliberately ignore what players have to say now, no major or any improvements on things that players has been asking for ages as of yet.
And YET, with all of the flaws, there's still a plenty of players that play this game non stop. Devs should be thankful for having such a dedicated community.
It was kind of curious when you mentioned that the anime fictional cars break the inmerssion, which, i agree. But i think that cars with crazy stupid handling, like for example, the supposed Falken “drift" vehicles, or a GT2 RS doing LM car laptimes, or a lot of cars just passing 400 kph, really break the inmerssion sometimes. Or in the other way around. Some cars handle like absolute crap when they shouldn't. All of those cars need to be balanced. But at the same time i know that devs are greedy and they don't want to vulnerate their ultra rare to get super special tier 5 imports.

They could've focused on getting rid of leaderboard hackers, or fixing some of the car sounds. The car class system is kinda broken too since some S+ cars are slower than S cars. You'd think they should fix that, but no, instead they do stuff like shortening the 1v1 multiplayer race to just one lap, giving less chance for 2WD cars to catch up to AWD cars.
Why fix what's not broken, yet do nothing to address the more significant flaws?

With me being a racing gamer that doesn't play AR, with experience in various gacha games, I can sympathize with the community on barely getting any updates out, repetitive gameplay being a trend, etc. But there is something that itches me on the responses on the recent updates, and it's the purity complexes most of the community has on this being a simcade game. Assetto Corsa has a huge modding community and is a fusion of people taking it seriously, installing great IRL cars and taking them out to track while there are some who vibe with the more meme-y side of modding, and the lack of the problems that AR has like actually keeping players engaged in the game (even if the modding community is usually the ones doing the heavy lifting). The vibe of most AR fans from this video feels very toxic even if their concerns are valid, and sometimes that is the vibe from sim and simcade fans from an outside perspective, at least to me. Hopefully you can understand my concerns even if most of it is targeted towards the players being weird about anything anime-related.

Good vid (and your english isnt bad tbh, I've heard worse), but it could've been a little bit more in depth by including their origin story, which traces all the way back to 2012 on a GTPlanet forum.
The main dev Julien was doing a game with his mate. The game was called Redline Racing (which is basically served as an Assoluto prototype or alpha version). Basically was a freeware title, and it played almost identically as Assoluto. Anyway, so about 2 years later on the GTP thread, some kid decides to rip the models from the game for some video montage that he shares. Julien gets mad about it and he stops the development of the game just because someone extracted his assets (as if its difficult to begin with). That would explain their hate on mods that were going on throughout 2020s. His venture into game development would begin again some weeks after the asset ripping "incident" and he would make Assoluto as we know it today.
Basically that would prob be the TLDR version ig, the thread is still up on GTPlanet so you could check it out if you want.

Great video. Long post but bear with me cos I really liked your perspective.
Aye can agree on many things like 1. physics only leaning towards understeer especially FRs only oversteering on power and never ON braking... I have been gabbing about it since 2020...
    2. and the cars severely understeering at low speeds. I've been on touges and if there's enough of corner and steering input you can slide at 50kph...
    3. and rally mode not getting updated... I am still hoping I could get my Evo 6 rally car so I can finally quit... but the gravel and snow handling is so grippy it feels like it won't matter...
And multiplayer rooms not being customisable other than player nos and track.
BUT I feel I have to play the devil's advocate here because: since day one, the game has been review bombed by hundreds, if not thousands of people who can't drive, that it is "too oversteery and undrivable". Not undriftable, undrivable. The drift physics in the early days was not so good, I immediately started drifting well enough when they fixed the cars spinning out all the time, but that's another issue.(I was spinning out on 250hp E30 M3 btw)
When you get people who hasn't learned the ABC of driving who just maxxed out their cars to make 800hp and complain when it doesn't move like they want it to, then you have to make concessions.
Also, about multiplayer not being improved: nobody takes this game seriously. It is a mobile, and you play with your nick. In random lobbies, more than half of the players quit during races when things are not going well for them. If the collision is allowed, everyone will crash into each other due to their lack of training and bad reflexes(we are talking about the likes of GT3 cars here. Although they are arcadey, they are pretty bloody quick. I sometimes practice crash avoiding against other players but it's frustrating because most of the time they drive out of racing line and behave erratically like braking early and jumping back into track because they overshot it. So I just play other games) Devs can make customisable lobbies, and that would be brilliant, but that would go against their sales strategy of better import gacha cars = winning cars.
As for the Anime collab... oh dear. Don't you folks like Initial D? That's an anime in my book.
The problem with HighSpeed Etoile, as I mentioned is, they forgot that racing gamer or just racing population in general like to think of themselves as serious people. Yes, some racing fans do like anime, like myself, but it's all about the tone, isn't it?
HighSpeed Etoile didn't seem to take its main characters any seriously and seem to have designed them as eye candies worthy of their faces and bodies being stenciled onto cars for the amusement of certain male fans, while their male character counterparts are photorealistic human beings, and that ruins the immersion immediately if you ask me. Compare that to actually good racing animes like Capetta, Overtake! Even Initial D, MF Ghost, and Wangan Midnight(I really do not like Wangan for reasons but I have to give it due credit). All of their characters move within their worldbuilding and the styles the artists have given to that world. HSE does not.
Some folks mistook my criticism of HSE as some weird radicalised feminist argument, and while it could be said it has some of that aspect if you squint wee bit too hard, my argument was ultimately about immersion and consistency.
Yes, you people have immediately recognised the un-seriousness of HSE and rightly so. You recognise when the directors of certain animes treat you like immature hooligans, and you are right to not like it.
Personally, I think business-wise, it was a good call for AR devs to collab with HSE. If one does not like the car, then they have the choice to simply ignore it and not get one. It's the "other essential and long wanted update being delayed by this silly anime" part is what matters.
As for the actual cars, the Ami and the other red imaginary Formula car... are a hoot to drive. Much more interesting and exciting than Superformula Cars, actually... except that they are E-Prix cars and therefore do not have gear change. They are oversteery, powerful, and wild. I like them. I can ignore the looks, and realism slash immersion doesn't really bother me because there was a time when AE86 bodykit car used to do sub-6 minutes on the Nurburgring, and many maxxed out regular cars can do low to mid 6 minutes. That is NOT realistic at all in my book.
Idk, I might be speaking from a perspective of someone who has given up a long time ago and does not care that much. I just lean back and speed drift my 160hp AE86 every now and then for a good laugh. And thar's good enough for me.

As someone who didn't pay anything for the game, I have to say that it takes an arduous amount of time before it actually becomes entertaining. The main problem I had was accessing real high-performance cars, which are mostly locked in the gacha mechanism. Through my experience of owning 20+ S+ class cars, most are purchased some I got from import, I really only find a few cars to be actually competitive and the rest are just for collecting purposes and I drive them much less often.
My main car now is the rx7fd rs, not the RE Amemiya kit, just the one that can be purchased from the manufacturer. Although TVR Sagaris have 20 more hp, rx7fd's turbo can actually boost the car up to 400kph+ on the nurburgring. The only car that can surpass this is probably the GTR R35 but thats another question.
For me, Assoluto Racing is pretty much just a mobile nurburgring simulator. I don't record driving other tracks often if at all, hence why my lv is so high, because I use nurburgring laps in free run mode to test setups, and see what time can I get, each time it gives 4000 ish xp.
I really agree with the multiplayer part, IV need to seriously improve the multiplayer mechanics. I think the main reason they are not doing that is because the single player content is so hollow everyone would probably be on multiplayer, which costs server resources for IV.
Also, I would really like to see a reworked Tokyo expressway, given they are able to put the entire nurburgring in game, they should try put in a 1:1 shutoko, Daikoku pa spawn point+bayshore expressway(wangan)+tatsumi 1st pa+c1 loop line. This would simply make AR the best mobile game for both track and street racing, which the latter is yet to see any competitor on mobile, or on PC even, because there is only really shutoko revival project for Assetto Corsa that can provide a better experience.
This maybe too long for a youtube comment but I really appreciate your video

I have a low end device or mid and I have to uninstall it sometimes with high hopes of improvement but now I have doubts in the longevity of this game, the group has been inactive for two months..

Would say that the highspeed collaboration is definitely for the Japanese audience, because it's kinda common for their country with almost every game collaborate with any anime, just like drift spirits with their international server release and then got delisted afterwards, i would say everyone's perspective and opinions are different, and it's not like AR is for anyone, and i seriously don't mind about the highspeed and vtuber collaboration not because I'm just an anime geek, games developers release and collaborate what they want, love it or hate it, they won't care.

Currently i play grid autosport, it's a paid game but the content is good and has good graphics since it's a conversion from console, the physics is a mix between arcade and simulator but it's lean more toward simulator as it has realistic "wind" physic, tyre de-form, suspension system, even engine failure and gearbox failure if you push it too much, you can feel the car will oversteer in slow corner and understeer in fast corner and you can feel the increase in downforce as the car speeds up, the tyre will also loss its grip if you touch grass or dirt too much and what amazing you can break the suspension system as the whole car is not 1 render but it function individually and not mention the AI is very aggressive almost like a real player, they are fast makes little to no mistake so it's not an easy game, it's a huge learning step if you only play RR3 because even with traction control and ABS you still can spin and and lock the wheel.

Personal experience: I played for a year, then left, then return, left for a year or 2, then returned. Somehow, the game makes loading time for old tracks 5 times longer due to addition of new layouts, and newer tracks+cars near unplayable for phones of my range. Worst of all, nothing significant was added since the removal of Dodge, not even the buggy UI or non-existent career mode OR the downright crappy racing mode were improvised. It's crazy, a game promised the best sim-driving experience would deliver a beta-version level of product quality even after almost 10 years since release. The small indie dev team does not convince me to play their game, because this game does not look like 10 years of efforts. This is by far the closest to a Gran Turismo mobile spiritual successor (knowing that ex-devs of GT are also part of this project), but for a game with "racing" in its title, that's a horrible racing game. If there is a better alternative, I'd switch in an instant.
There are 2, by the way. One is CarX Drift Racing (not Street). Very similar in gameplay, but progressive by skill and almost every car is possible to unlock, plus it's physic engine is close to reality enough to get a grasp of the driving. However, it's a niche drift game, and it's since followed the niche without making the game more of a driving simulator game. But the second one, well, play GT if AR doesn't cut it. Gran Turismo 2 is able to be emulated on Duckstation, available for mobiles, and take up less than 1gb. Despite the graphic visual, its physic engine still holds up strong, and 10-folds the content, both tracks, cars, and the information of said cars. Every special cars are accessible through finishing special races, not Gacha, the game doesn't require wifi to play, and better yet, there are RACING, and the bots are geniunely competitive. And all that from a game that's around 15 years older than AR.
AR to me is the prime example of "how NOT to copy a game", and why the core experience matters more than the new contents. With that said, I hope the devs could learn a thing or 2 over the course of the game's run time, and if possible, a replacement on the misopportunity.
Edit: Car weeb here. Love how you address the "eyesore" liveries, because in Japanese, "Ita" means pain, "sha", car. Itasha, pain car. A car that kills you with anime cringe. A pretty common thing in Japanese car culture. So they indeed did their job, but then again, doesn't save the game.

The biggest problem of the devs of AR imo is: They're way too focused on adding new features to the game that dont add on anything and are only hot-lap related, while they could instead start adding new game modes to the career mode (such as actual races with proper AI's and challenges including overtaking, endurance, etc including the option of changing the race time and weather.), new set of licenses tests and more tracks, its pointless to have a lot of cars being added but not a single new track to use them (they didnt add a single new track since the aoyama touge and the forest path new layouts)...

  • @aperson8627
    @aperson8627 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

This. Ive played AR since 2021, and one thing i have noticed especially when watching gran Turismo videos, is that there is a sense of progress. Take GT4, once you beat the GTWC you get the cover car of the game, and the ending movie plays. Of course, the game is still playable after that, but the fact is that the buildup to the GTWC and the ending movie makes you feel like "Holy shit. I did it." Compared to assoluto racing in its current state, the only sense of progress you get is the driving classes and the modified and unmodified races. After that, its just "Now what?".
In short, AR is the mobile version of Gran Turismo, but only the arcade mode. The game lacks progression and the recent Highspeed Etoile collaboration isn't exactly making it look like "The Next-Gen Mobile Racing Simulation"

I tried my best to get import tickets and even grind 5 hours straight lol...when i try to gamble, my dream come true...i got the rx7 race spec and i was so very² happy back then...i used it when it comes to drift/race. But on 2021, i left the game cuz im tired of playing it lol...when i came back the game in late 2022, i realized that theres still no changes in the game...i feel like the game is boring...but im still playing it...cruising on nurburgring or drifting...in 2023-2024, the game itself is very boring...like the "highspeed etoile" collaboration...the import cars are boring to use even the X car...i dont like to use it tbh cuz its slow so im still using my rx7 race spec cuz its good, fast, can drift smoothly...when they announce 8th anniversary update, im very hype cuz i feel like they're going to add racetracks such as the LeMans which was my favorite...but when the update comes out, dang...still no new racetracks...its just 2 formula cars and even the toyota gt-one...i tried my luck just to get the formula but when i pulled it, im not very hype...my coins are like 4,120 to 120 ...dang what a total waste but still manage to get that car...for me, the 8th anniversary is not very hype cuz no racetracks...yea...

assoluto racing is more of a simcade than a full sim racing game its physics are allot easier to manage than that of a sim but it is the closes to a sim racing game we have. Grid is a bit more more simulator material that assoluto but still a simcade, hopefully one day we get a full blown sim racer on mobile like an official assetto corsa mobile.
