    Another good point for rF2 on the note of content: You actually buy the content. You can always use it cause you buy the game once and there you go. Add to that the workshop where you can get loads of free tracks, granted, not for the new online system because you can't put unlicensed mod tracks into the official MP system, but you actually get to keep the stuff you buy. With iRacing you lose all the content you bought when you stop paying for subscription, so you technically just rent the cars and tracks.

    • @RacingWithChuck27

      I agree with most. When you stop playing rf2, you lose that also. It’s not like you can use that content in another sim or pull out and push it around the floor 😊Iracing came out of the gate strong with the MP availability and servers all over. John Henry and his love for sim racing was a dream for Dave K. I prefer to not continue irqcing because the physics and tires suck but it’s simple and a lot of leagues which is me

      @@RacingWithChuck27 the point is you only need to buy rF2 once, if you stop playing for a while you can just reinstall later without paying for it again

      @@NiHi557 I understand that but maybe these other sims should charge something so they have a platform with no server issues and money for continuous growth. Not investing in something you love, not sure I get that, maybe it’s from the EA mindset? . Right now isn’t the new MP is rf2 having problems? It seems they planned for a small turn out instead of properly being ready. That’s because they didn’t want to spend the money, or have it too do it right? Life is usually about, you get what you pay for. I dislike irqcing tires and physics but the ease of finding a league , what price can you put on that? $10 a month wouldn’t that be worth rf2 to get a worldly MP system. Rennsport has an opportunity but they’re too busy stroking everyone with these big Esport event, that’s not sim racing, invited special people only.

    • @NiHi557
      @NiHi557 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      @@RacingWithChuck27 It is a beta, they are literally having the new MP open right now to find, identify and solve the problems you are addressing my gamer. That is what a beta is for. And of course I dont mind supporitng my simulator of choice, which is why I am an active member of the community that tries to expand the playerbase as well by hosting events that could appeal to people and make them want to get rF2, besides buying DLC and using it

    • @hammer86_
      @hammer86_ ปีที่แล้ว +13

      @@RacingWithChuck27Do you really not get it or are you intentionally being obtuse? Nobody has a problem paying a subscription fee to cover the cost of running a service. The problem is paying for content you don't own, and which disappears when you halt your subscription. Either everything should come with the subscription, or they need an offline mode where we can enjoy the content that we supposedly "bought".

  • @martin-hall-northern-soul

    I realise this comment reveals a deep rooted lack of self-assuredness on my part. However, iRacing has a few simple but psychologically effective marketing messages, and a structured hierachical progression system, which combine to make it feel like I'm a motorsport enthusiast that's a member of an online racing community. By contrast, firing up RF2, AMS2, ACC or AC can feel very much like I'm a gamer playing a video game.
    As a 44 year old man with a fragile ego and limited critical thinking skills, iRacing has convinced me that I'm pursuing meaningful progression in a hobby which brings me closer to motorsport series I follow in real life.
    Regardless of how enjoyable the other sims are, and I use each one fairly regularly, compared to iRacing, using them does feel like I'm playing a game to enjoy a dose of light hearted escapism. The dichotomy I'm making is undoubtadely irrational as RF2, ACC and AC as simulators are probably several degrees nearer to providing the experience of driving a European circuit race car than iRacing does.
    As ridiculous as this sounds, iRacing feels more grown up. The gatekeeping aspect of the pricing structure probably plays a large part in that.

    RFactor 2 is my go to sim. All this time, I've been waiting for this moment; to be able to be a daily driver in RF2. Why? Very smooth FPS, best FFB, and better netcode than iRacing. I can race hard and close, even from the other side of the globe, over 200 ping, as long as it’s stable. This is a big win. RF2 shall live on

      In my experience, ACC and AC have amazing FFB, but the game isn't the most smooth in multiplayer races and very CPU / GPU heavy.
      iRacing has a very smooth experience, but the way the netcode works makes close racing dangerous.
      AMS2 has the best graphics, very smooth, and very good FFB, but lacks a ranked matchmaking system.
      RF2 ticks all the boxes for me. AMS2 is next on my wishlist.

From my experience with iRacing I was pretty sure it would be all over on T1 but I ended up having close battles getting knocked around a bit but with no weird net code issues. I made my way to p2 with my 240 ping. I had a blast and could see the potential the system has.

    The best point you made was when you said you have no idea if you are going to get value on iracing purchases. They should have at least a limited test drive feature. There is nothing worse than buying a car, going in to practice and immediately realizing you will never race the car. Not to mention the lost money on cars that are dead on arrival. I learned to never buy a car that runs a new series until I see that it is populated. Anyone that bought the ir01 or the electric Porsche wasted $25

    iRacing competitor here. I've always felt that rFactor 2 has WAYYY better than handling that iRacing. I also used to find rFactor 2 had better graphics than iRacing, but I think that's because I had a potato for a CPU in the past; I haven't tried rFactor 2 since upgrading my CPU though, so perhaps iRacing would appear better than it now. (iRacing is very CPU heavy) rFactor 2 has always had terrible net code for me; I'm surprised you thought rFactor's was better. iRacing:
    Very good game with a very good AI (though not perfect).
    Way too expensive to be a reasonable choice and has netcode issues.
    Assetto Corsa Competizione:
    Good GT3/4 racing, especially with LFM, cheap.
    Terrible, horrible force feedback, boring and lifeless AI. Curbs are unrealistically punishing.
    Automobilista 2:
    Decent AI, though bugged on longer races with pitstops, lots of content, great force feedback.
    Almost nobody plays online.
    rFactor 2 (I don't own the game, but from what people say):
    Good force feedback, good physics.
    DLCs are expensive, setting it up is a nightmare, inconsistent quality between content and the AI is also very inconsistent and buggy.
    RaceRoom (only tried a little bit of free content):
    Lots of content, good AI.
    Not many people play online, buying extra content can be very expensive, no rain, bad weather system.
    Assetto Corsa:
    Good with mods, lots of content. Decent driving experience.
    Not much to do, as the AI is generally bad and boring, you can get some multiplayer races on open lobbies but don't expect much competitive racing. Without mods it's almost worthless. Curbs are unrealistically punishing.
    TL;DR: If you're a simracer, you can never be happy playing one sim at a time. Or just never be happy in general.

      The problem is not your settings, but the car itself. rFactor2 is amazing, but one of its negative points is the inconsistency of content. As a rule of thumb, the DLC cars are top notch, but even with those cars you will find difference in FFB feeling (none of them are bad, but some are better than others). Now if we talk about workshop content, its no mans land. A handful of them are actually good, with the remaining being divided between ok'ish, bad and terrible. And that also includes the workshop content of S397 and image space inc. (which some people consider to be official lol).
      To be safe, drive the DLC, or be prepared to get disappointed half of the time.

      Very different cars will behave very differently. You have to get used to that. But if you don't like it you can always increase the FFB multi in the session for that car, assuming your wheel driver software isn't the issue. I think this is one of the key differences most people coming from other games have to face. Not all cars are created equally and thus feel different.

    • @willyoung6858
      @willyoung6858 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      In this case it’s understandable. In rf2 the fastest way to drive is to fully drift it round. I’m all for having an interplay with the car but rfactor 2 isn’t that,it’s just loosening the car as much as you can in the setup and holding on for dear life as the thing drifts round every corner
      Iracing for me as someone who’s tested a few single seaters and a few ginetta gt cars,is very realistic until you’re very very far over the limit. I despise this impression in sim racing that cars somehow save themselves miles over the limit,they don’t. They have a point slightly over where you’ll be correcting the car and anything over that you’ll be spinning locking up etc etc. Rfactor 2 doesn’t factor this in.
      That’s not to say iracing is flawless,one of my main gripes is the way it handles lock ups. In a real car generally when you let off the brakes during a lock up the car will push on straight but the locked wheel will stop locking. In iracing you can be off the brakes and even on the throttle and you can still hear see and feel the wheel locking.

    • @GamerMuscleVideos
      @GamerMuscleVideos  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@willyoung6858 lol "Very far over the limit"
      Sure RF2 is super drifty and overly slidy in meta. But iRacing the cars totally brake down on the limit they litrally don't support countersteer properly everything the driver does has to be premptive and ahead of it happening which requires you to trile and error the specific fail conditions for each corner.
      Fastest way to drive in iracing revolves around memorising set specific wheel angles for each corner , it's the antithesis of "driving"
      If real cars were like iracing half the grid would be dead in 5 laps.
      The lock up and grip not returning behaviour is also reflected with lateral grip tires don't spring back and bite back anything like real tires.
      iracing is insane with how tires heat up then get stuck over limit with grip not returning fast as it does in almost all situations with real cars , which is presumably why iracing are re working the tire model.
      Just go to centrifugal track and pop rear out and catch it or even get into a mild slide , the way you countersteer and how car responds is nothing like a real car it's so unhinged.
      AC1 is by far the closest to getting a tire and how tires behave right though , AMS1 and Race room also have cars that are ballenced and generally drive like real cars even if each of those SIMs still have issues and weird grip levels

However at least from my experience,iracing in the right cars,and I stress right cars because this is crucial for judging any game,has good behaviour on the limit. I also stress on the limit,as irl if you push enough over the limit you will spin or lock up,which in the right cars iracing replicates well.
      Rfactor on the other hand,is too slidey in virtually every car,and when trying to drive quick at least to me is frustrating because it’s simply too easy there’s no challenge to it in my view.

    I’m one of those idiots who have been with iracing since the last beta. I’ve never liked the tire model, even through all the variations. There’s been so many they stoped adding a # too them. A race car you’re suppose to push it, hustle the car when you need to. Iracing you get to about 95% and if you lose it, it’s the slow lazy death spin. I’ve had rf2 for about two months. It’s not to hard to set up. The new system to grind up so you can race what you want, that’s not really exciting, mostly because I’m a league guy. Finding a league isn’t easy either. I was hoping Rennsport would capitalize on all the sims through the years, learn from their mistakes and bring out a banger( is that a British slang)sim. One last thing, some of the rf2 tracks look like ass. I normally am about apex’s and physics but some are so ugly it’s distracting lol

    The whole user experience, to get into a race, is simply awful and it just doesn't seem to get any better, but once you're in, the driving feels great.
    iRacing, or iRenting as I prefer to call it, is not even worth considering unless you're going to put a LOT of time into it.
    I had three different accounts, so I could jump back in for the 3 months for 5 dollars for new users.
    The last time I decided to buy some content. After spending about £150 I decided to bail as it was a constant money pit. You should either pay a subscription or pay for content,
    not both.
    iRenting fan boys always fall back on playing either the free content, which is fine if you're happy with that. I wasn't and wanted to race GT3.
    Their second fall back position is the fabled "participation credit" scam, failing to mention that you have to complete 75% of a season to qualify and guess what?? You will need to buy
    some tracks to be able to complete the season....unless you want to race just the free content.
    It's a horrible, punitive and extremely costly system.
    I really liked your apple comparison cos most apple users are also brainless and like things because they are "shiny"....

The handling....undoubtedly in RF2 you can just grab a car and drive it without crashing, it's just far more forgiving, that said in the M2 for example it feels floaty and just drifts everywhere not sure it feels like the wheels are in contact with the road. IRL I have a Focus mk3 RS (not a race car and arguably not even a great road car) if it drove like the M2 in RF2 I would think the wheels hadn't been bolted on properly. No it's not gotten different it has the same physics issues it's always had , that are masked a bit by making cars even more sloppy.
      Grass grip is the only substantial change.

  • @joshjmilli
    @joshjmilli ปีที่แล้ว

    I still think iRacing has the edge in brake feel. It’s the game that feels the most organic. However, rf2 has superb ABS feel! You can really ride the threshold to stop the ABS from kicking in, since you can actually feel it through the wheel. If iRacing had this same feedback, the brake feel would be well clear of all sims.

    • @GamerMuscleVideos
      @GamerMuscleVideos  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Are you insane ?
      Iracing tires don't even support realistic braking because if you lock up the tires stay stuck over the limit where as real tires generally just snap back right away.
      With non abs cars in iracing you can litrally set brake to 68-75% with a top cut and use that to be at track pace with little to no risk of binning it which gives a massive advantage over players that get stuck in slides from braking a fraction too hard.
      Then as for feel of braking both iracing rf2 are quite pore.
      AMS2 with custom ffb can be ok in that regard but AC1 is by far the closest to real tires and with most detailed FFB , it's not even close.

    If you want to sim race at any hour in almost any discipline and compete with drivers closer to your own skill set, then IRacing wins hands down. It’s not even a close comparison.
    I raced nearly every other sim before moving to Iracing. I made the choice for 1 reason. More players racing at any given time of day 24/7/365z
    If that is not your gig, then Iracing is a poor investment.
    The comparison between sims is just that. A comparison.
    I loved every sim I spent time on. They all have positive and negative.
    If you desire online competition, then Iracing IS the pinnacle.
    If you just wanna have fun, then there are several sims to play. If you desire top online racing, then there are no other sims to consider.

      They all have positives and negatives , a big negative of iracing is the cars don't allow you to drive as you would an actual car , which is fine for a game but a bit of an issue for a sim.
      No real car I have been in has been like iracing not a single one. Radical SR3 , Aston Martin GT4 , Airal atom , Toyota Celica , multiple rental karts. And no tire I have driven in real life , slick , road , cut slick has driven like iracing at the point the car is being pushed at all.
      No SIM is an investment, iracing can be a fun does have some good points but the tire model and netcode are terrible.
      They are working on tires though and at least they fixed grass after 5 years of complaining which has already made races much cleaner and more fun.

    I've never played anything other than AC and ACC so I'm not biased towards neither iRacing nor rFactor 2. With that in mind I really don't understand why some people like simulators that are more "forgiving" than others. It's a simulator so it should in theory simulate real world conditions. In that regard I'm more interested in the opinions of someone who drives real racing cars for a living than opinions of random sim racers on the web or casual track day drivers. If a professional race driver tells me iRacing is more realistic than rFactor 2, then I'd prefer iRacing over rFactor 2 because I want to experience the challenge of real racing as much as possible. I don't care if one is more "forgiving" than the other, they're called racing simulators for a reason, so I expect a simulator to be as close as possible to the real experience.

    1, We have saying in Finland that u dont't show unfinished product to a lunatic or a superior. Deside which you are.. ;-)
    2. The newer rf2 contents graphics are too notch. I think old ones are on par or better than iracing. I put raceroom and iracing in same category by graphics, iracing is just yellow and raceroon blue

    I think that if people analize any sim's physics apart from iracing they would find twice as much bugs and flaws in the physics in half the time. Iracing is far from perfect, but people tend to hate too much without even thinking about it. For example: rf2 has flatspots simulated and Iracing does not. Ok, it's rf2 flatspot model really accurate? Nobody even cares. Well, if Iracing simulated that, it would be something deeeeply analyzed and criticized.
    My own opinion, of course.

    Absolutely agree in car contact physics, it‘s much better feeling in rF2.

    Im not expertise but with almost 2 years in Iracing, Force Feedback in rFactor2 is very far away better than Iracing. PERIOD!!!

    I have been trying to move to RF2 from Race o7 but the total lack of reality in the setup makes it a kiddie game. I've tried , really I have but my heavily moded Race07 is just far better physics and more fun to drive along with 400 cars and 300 tracks all for free. PS Oh I nearly forgot . the car gets out of the pits too^^. I have Automobalista 2 as well . that's just rubbish, Race Room looks and feels ok but I'm not paying for every track and car. I haven't tried I racing , again it's a money thing.

    At some point I may actually have to download rF2 - I've heard nothing good about the UI which is why I've always steered clear.

      They change UI 1 or 2 years ago, for a sim it’s not too hard to setup the 1st time, it take me 2hours looking tuto, after that it’s 100% pleasure 😊

    I was just thinking we were due for a GamerMuscle winge about iRacing. I'm not going to argue with most of your points, but please stop with the whole "iRacing doesn't let you push the car or go over the limit in a recoverable way" BS. That was true a few years ago, but has improved dramatically since then to the point where it's simply not true anymore. It's like you have some kind of PTSD from it and just can't let it go. Like a Nam vet who still thinks Charlie is coming through the wire. That said, I still love your content, even if it rubs my iRacing fanboy-ness the wrong way at times. And I'll admit, it keeps me at least somewhat objective and gets me to try other sims. So, cheers!

      No it's still messed up , new cars still have the same issues.
      So no it's not BS
      Iracing are also working on a new tire model so I guess that's for nothing.
      When iracing fixes it's tire model iracers will have a mental brake down , as it simply won't drive at all like iracing anymore.

      drive the super formula. iceRacing is still a hardcore thing in 2023 with new content. Drive the caddy dpi... Drive just about any high DF car on that service. Either you aren't pushing these cars to the limit yourself or you are delusional.

    • @angryginger791
      @angryginger791 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@papalenny I do drive the Super Formula and I've just switched from the P217 to the LMDh for endurance races. The Super Formula slides around about as much as you'd expect. If you have good throttle control, it's definitely recoverable. But if you don't back off when it starts to go, it's definitely going to snap around, just like it would IRL. I haven't driven the LMDh enough to say, but I have a lot of hours in the P217, and it's the same way. You can get it a little out of line, but if you go too far, or don't have very fast and accurate throttle control, you're probably going to at least lose some time. How much do you think you should be able get out of line with these cars? They are not designed or set up to drift around. High downforce cars are made to be steered with the throttle, and you're delusional if you think they should be. You guys just want every car to make you look like a driving god, and sorry, but you are not. I'd bet everything I own if we put you in these cars IRL, and there's no way you'd be able to control them like you think you should be able to.
