I'll always remember the night Novoselic threw his bass up in the air and it came back down right on his head. He stumbled and walked off. It was the MTV music awards, I was 13 with my teenage sister's laughing and loving life. I always liken Nirvana to better times in my life. The older I get the more I seem to relate to Kurt, Kinda ironic.

Kurt Cobain had a life that was the modern equivalent of an 18th/19th century romantic poet, personal problems, financial problems, physical and mental health issues and substance abuse. But all of this produced artistic greatness.

    • @christineparis5607
      @christineparis5607 2 ปีที่แล้ว +8

I agree, it seems like ALL artists really struggle with just being alive at all, no matter what else is going on. Even when someone (or a crowd!) is taking care of all the details, it just gets worse...my husband always said Kurt would have been happy just being a garage band with a small following, instead of a corporate juggernaut it became...sometimes success is more destructive than anything...

I was age 13 when Nirvana owned the world and I’ve never felt the same about a band since. Anyone else remember that most people loved them cause we knew they were going to destroy the place at the end? I’d sit by my vcr and record whenever they were on. Most violent stage show ever.

In Kurt's defense, opiate/opioid addiction fools you into thinking that u have legitimate ailments, usually involving pain (stomach, back, etc). Kurt may have been telling, what he thought, was the truth. Insidious is a most suitable description for this terrible phenomenon.

    • @chrisrodgers8484

I disagree. Kurts stomach issues started at around 14. I definitely believe he had undiagnosed gastroparesis and ibs issues. I have been having gastro symptoms for 20 years and the 1st ten they said it was marijuana use or psychological but when my insurance was better they ran a 15k test and decided it was real so it definitely happens. I am or never was an opiate user but I deal with extreme pain and can understand how it could drive you to want relief of any type not realizing that your self destructing. I've had 4 children natural no meds and it don't touch the pain I go through with my stomach and this nerve damage.

@@chrisrodgers8484 I don't disagree with a single thing u said. I'll give u an example. I had a "bulging disc" in my back. Could've dealt with it using anti-inflammatorys-but I was convinced that I needed percocet. I started using 80mg oxycontin - it worked SO well. When I wasn't ON it: my back pain was 10 times worse than it would've been otherwise. This is owing to the fact that opioids effect the mid brain (fight or flight, hierarchy of needs, etc).

With Kurt's stomach pains it actually shows he didn't have major depression disorder but what would be listed in the current dsm-5 with severe depression as with that form although often being confused with mdd the thing that separates it is the physical effect on the body with the most common being severe constant stomach pains. Not flashes that pass in an hour or a few days but as a constant.

I still listen to their music today and now my 17 and 19 years listen as well. They grew up listening to all types but always knew that Nirvana was special to me and in my household. Rambling I know but Kurt and the band got me through my teens alot of bad times and some of the best times of my life. When Kurt died I felt like a part of me died a family member died. FRIENDS FOR KURT:
10.) The Seattle medical examiner, Dr Nikola Hartshorne (Dr NH) is a friend of CL from before he was a doctor. He had promoted rock bands in the '80's. So no surprise when he rules for CL's version of events, as a suicide.
11.) Dr NH is also the ME for the death of CL's bassist, Kristen Pfaff (KP) who was killed two weeks after the murder of KC, and after being given heroin by another Hole band member, Erick Erlandson (EE). EE is in love with CL at the time. CL was very jealous over KC and KP's new relationship.
12.) EE is at CK's house the day he died after CL asked him to go to the house to look for her husband.
13.) One month after CK was murdered, and two weeks after KP was killed, Dr NH, who by all accounts was rising up the ladder at work, leaves to live in Florida. His Seattle coworkers are all surprised.
14.) Just two months after KC was murdered, DT, of the SPD, is murdered by two guys who set him up to be killed by pretending to have a flat tire.
15.) Lead on the CK case, Detective Cameron (DC), and the boss of DT, is fired three years after the murder of CK for bribery and corruption. He had been with SPD for 39 years.
16.) No fingerprints on the shotgun shells.
So, I think CL had EE give CK a mickey in his root beer (the Valium found in KC's blood) and then gave him a massive dose of heroin when KC was already passed out. EE then leaves and Allen Wrench comes in alone, instructed by CL, to get the shotgun she knew CK had purchased with his buddy Dylan Thomas, and to use it on CK. Dylan admits he told CL about the shotgun prior. Then CL has EE give her rival, KP, an OD of heroin. EE is the only person to be seen entering her residence that night. He left 30 minutes later. So then CL hires some thugs to pretend a flat tire on the route of off duty DT and have him killed. Dead men tell no tales. In 2002 Dr NH dies in a mysterious base jumping accident. Allen Wrench is still alive.

By 1994, Nirvana weren't bigger than ever. They peaked in 1992, and started coming off their peak about halfway through 1993 when their music was about 18 months to 2 years old. They then had a less successful album with September 1993's In Utero, but a solid tour. The new music however didn't contain enough hits or shift in style to buoy them up above the water again, so they were relegate dto playing to mainly diehard believers by 1994 instead of the new converts of 1991/92. The outlook didn't seem particularly promising by the end of the first quarter of 1994. They were not only a band in decline by then but also a musical genre, not to mention tensions within the band and the increasingly dominant role taken by Courtney Love. Cobain's drug use by then had reached a crescendo - much of his creativity and energy was derived from them and as he hit 27, like many of that age, the chickens had come home to roost, and the karmic price of being a serious drug user for the previous 4 years (since taking heroin several times in 1990) was needing to be paid back with interest. There was a definite upswing in the quality and volume of work post-heroin as opposed to pre-heroin (1990 being the dividing line). 1989's Bleach album, compared to 1991's Nevermind, was repetitive, monotone and sometimes even uninspired. Nirvana's ascendancy in 1991 paralleled the Beatles' discovery of drugs in 1966 that led them from teen faves like I Want To Hold Your Hand to Sgt Peppers. Music that was pedestrian, mundane and predictable (and which jumped on a bandwagon, similar to the early thrash metal phase of Nirvana) to magnum opus works that were unique, serious and fascinatingly riveting.

hey not to mention ALL of the sketchy details of kurts death and even prior to his death when courtney tried killing him in rome. Thats why he literally fled from her. Love was responsible for her for mer bassist kristin pfaff, who might have had mutual feelings for kurt, but they were both deathly afraid of Love. It's time we get #justiceforkurt. There was many inconsistencies with the supposed "suicide", like why did the shotgun he supposedly killed himself with have no prints? not to metion kurt wasnt physically able to pull the trigger due to having so much heroin in nhim to kill a horse and too short to pull said trigger. Not to mention he was taking love off his will, his death wasnt even investigated correctly, courtney was friends with the coroner, he was cremated to hide evidence. Just like the internet rallied for freebritt kurt deserves justice.

      I don't know if you know this but 1.52mg = 0.00152ml.
Please keep the mg into ml conversion in mind.
On average, heroin addicts take 300mg-500mg (0.3ml-0.5ml) of heroin per day. Heavy addicts can take up to 1,500mg (1.5ml) of heroin per day.
According to Tom Grant's website, Cobain Case, Tom claims Kurt took 225mg of heroin to get 1.52mg/L. He claims that 225mg or 0.225ml is a lethal dose. It is not.
That's around the average daily dose a heroin addict takes.
Heroin in blood would decrease in amount by getting filtered by the kidneys and from the half-life.
It takes between 5 hours to 2 days for the heroin to leave the blood and become untraceable.
I don't think 1.52mg/L of heroin in blood is suspicious after learning all of this.
Don't believe everything that conspiracy theory claims. Learn about facts, what heroin is and everything before you believe in that theory.

I think it's because he's a recluse. People who like solitude don't like getting too much attention.
Also when he became famous, he and his wife got into a scandal with heroin and her pregnancy from an article by Vanity Fair. Many people wrote many bad things about his wife.
He did a libel lawsuit against the writer of the article which he lost and that made him upset because the lawsuit was expensive, costing him hundreds of dollars. Losing money wasn't what made him upset the most it was how the rich, the people with a lot of money, have high chances to win court cases.
Kurt was rich but Vanity Fair had more money than he did.
In the book, Come As You Are, Kurt even said there was a dark moment where he and Courtney were thinking of committing suicide together with his gun because of all this. In the end they didn't.
In his interviews I read, like with Erica Ehm and Edgar Klusener, Kurt was upset about losing the libel lawsuit and how the media would spread false stories without checking or clarifying them.
He was sick of being famous because too many people misrepresented him.
Some people were saying that Kurt was a child abuser, , a heroin addict (which was true) and a war criminal. He thought it was insane what people were talking about him.
Then some police came and arrested him for domestic violence on June 1993.
The media misrepresented him as a wife beater. They said that Kurt had strangled his wife.
According to July 1993 interviews I read by Tamara Handii, Brian Willis and Darcy Steinke, Kurt said that he and Courtney were jamming, his neighbours got worried and misunderstood that the couple was having a fight and called the police for domestic violence. The police came and told them that a law in Seattle requires them to arrest one of the couples in cases of a domestic abuse report even if nothing had happened. The police also asked if they had guns in the house. Kurt didn't wanted the police to know he kept guns so he lied and said there are no guns. Courtney told the police the truth. Then Kurt and Courtney fought each other where Courtney threw orange juice on him and Kurt pulled a choker off from Courtney, resulting in a scratch on her neck. The fight happened in front of the police. Later the police arrested Kurt because of the law.
Kurt didn't beat Courtney or strangled her. The fight between them wasn't as serious as the newspapers were reporting.
Point is, Kurt was tired of how people were writing false or exaggerated and heavily misinformed stories about him.
He didn't wanted to be famous if it meant having people misrepresent him. He did try to get his life normal but it seems that it was hard to do so.
I don't think he wanted to kill himself but sometimes your depression becomes so strong that you can't handle it and just want to kill yourself to relieve yourself from all the emotional stress.
I think because Kurt was alone during the time he went missing is what prompted him to kill himself.
Usually, suicidal people would avoid acting on their suicidal impulses if they are surrounded by people.
      And sadly Kurt was alone.
It's sad what happened but we have to accept it. All we can do is appreciate what he left behind in this world. Like his music.

Most of the times, Kurt got away but if he ever got caught, his parents will have to deal with it and possibly pay money to bail him. And I don't think either of his parents wanted that.
Wendy tried to encourage Kurt to perform well in school and find a good job and not mess around. Kurt didn't do anything she told him to do.
Then she read some book that taught her about 'tough love'. Basically it taught her that parents should be tough with their children to make them good and that this treatment is a form of love and so parents shouldn't feel guilty about doing it.
