  • Showing the difference between Michelin Pilot Spot A/S3+ 235/40/18 and Dunlop Direzza Z3 245/40/18 on a Golf R MK7.5
    Both set of rims are Neuspeed RSe10 18x8.5" ET45mm.
    Stock suspension with EuroSport Camber Pucks that give -1.9 degrees camber on the front wheels.
    Rubbing can occur on abrupt suspension compression in high speed applications such as track. No issues with rubbing on the street.
    Let me know if you have comments or questions. Thanks!

    Its better you show side by side of the two tires to see the general differences of Width between 235 vs 245

    Hey Andrew, can you please tell which color option on the Neuspeed website you ordered for both the rim used in the Michelin an Dunlop tyres? I personally like the more glossy look of the rim in the Dunlop tyres a bit better. I ask this because I concider buying a set. Thank you for the great video! Kind regards, Dimitri.

      @noctisgt  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Dimitri. Just took a look at their website and they have more color options now. I have Gunmetal Satin for Michelin and Black Satin for Dunlop. Yes the black satin is more glossy than the gunmetal satin but it's more subtle and not full on glossy color.

    The rims are the same size and fit different tires and if so would that work on other rims also

    BTW can you tell which size is more comfort and quiet?

    • @noctisgt
      @noctisgt  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      For comfort go with 245 due to the bigger sidewall. For quiet go with 235 due to the lower surface area and friction. Overall I'd pick the 245.

    How are you putting tyres with different profiles (40/35% of 235mm) in the same size wheel without altering the gearing? You need to change profile when you change tyre if you’re using the same wheel size?

    • @noctisgt
      @noctisgt  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The "gearing" is altered between the two sets of tires in a way that the speedometer is not the same for both. Generally you can use any tire size you want if it fits under the wheel well but your speedometer won't be accurate anymore. The 235 I'm using on the street and the 245 on the track.

    I heard this before from people with Camaro's. A youtuber was Comparing Michelin to Continental. Michelins are notoriously wider and taller since the height is a % of the width. That's horrible! Especially when you want to make the tire look a certain way, or you expect it to look a certain way, then you mount the tire and it doesn't look right.. Too big, too wide, too bulky, too tall.. But this is not a problem if you can swap out tires until you get the right look and size. Like if you are GM and you engineer it a certain way. But from a buyer stand point, you never know what you are getting until it is installed, and by the time it is too late! That is the only reason why I don't want to buy Michelin, at this time.

    Looks like the 245 fits very perfectly. How do each handle? What is lost or gained between the two sizes?

    • @noctisgt
      @noctisgt  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'd say there are only benefits like more grip, more sidewall and better stance. Only downside would be increased rolling resistance which doesn't matter too much because it's not an EV.
