  • Color grade an entire TV show with me LIVE! If you search TH-cam, videos on color grading are of stock video or just a few clips within a scene. But how do you color grade an entire, 50 page scripted narrative film or TV show? In this new live stream, sit in my color suite with me as we grade #DarkOps #ChinaWhite.

    I watched the recorded version of the live stream. Great information. I learned a few new things. I will continue to tune in because I really want to learn this skill. Thank you for wanting to share your knowledge and continue to grow this community. I am only about an hour away from LA. Hopefully you have an event someday where we can meet ya in person. Keep it going!

    You are a goddesssend!! for the uninitiated like myself who want to learn DV or any other color grading/correction. I sat thru your 2hr class last night and walked away with a better understanding of color theory instead of sifting thru folks who just kill you with too many technicals about it.

    Finally, I found time to watch Day 1 recording - so great with all those little tips & tricks thrown in by you.
    In the mean time, I completely changed towards your grading tree and put all those power grades into a folder named 'Alissa Holy Grail'.

    Alissa, the reason resolve jumps to the first clip every time you scroll is because you have an adjustment clip over the entire length of the timeline. This has bugged me for the longest time too. When you scroll Resolve automatically auto-selects the top-most clip, even in the color panel. The only workaround I have found is to disable the track that holds the adjustment clip. You can do this from within the color panel if you have you turnoff the timeline, just disable the V2 or V3 or whichever track your adjustment clip resides. If your adjustment clip is only there as a placeholder for your Nobe scopes plugin then disabling this track may or may not disable the scopes I don't know as I don't have those scopes to test it. Hope that helps.

    Hi! I'm really enjoying your content. Thank you so much for the time and effort you put in to helping us learn more about color grading. I'm grateful for you. Early on you said something that's stuck out to me about LUTs. Do you have an recommendations when to get quality LUTs that are worth the money/

      Hi, welcome welcome to the community. Thanks for taking the time to comment. My apologies for the late reply, I've been sick and also under water with our new TV series.
      LUTs? To be honest, I'm afraid I'm the worst person to ask. I refuse to use them. I've created our own show LUTs that I give to my camera department on set but never use other people's LUTs. I'm sorry I can't be of help on this topic.

    hi...nice info...great👍....out of curiosity i JUST wanted to know THAT is your monitor "HDR" SUPPORTED?? why because YOU HAVE SELECTED TIMELINE WORKING LUMI TO HDR 2020 and here I got CONFUSED AFTER LOOKING INTO YOUR NITS SETTING...instead of 500/1000nits IT SHOWS 250/300...CAN YOU EXPLAIN WHY????

    • @knightlightshow
      @knightlightshow  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi, thanks for your comment. I'm grading on the Apple Pro Display XDR, which has a maximum sustained brightness of 1000 nits and a peak brightness of 1600 nits. This means that it can support the full range of luminance values that most HDR footage contains so I shouldn't see any clipping by setting my timeline working luminance to 4000. I am looking into buying a monitor that supports 4000 nits but again, looking more into this setting with my current setup. From what I've read, it shouldn't really negatively impact anything.
