- We are at Universal Studios Hollywood to see the brand new update and finale at Jurassic World the ride! As of today, the Indominus Rex is back and bigger than ever with a massive full scale animatronic that finishes off the Universal Attraction.
This dinosaur has been under wraps for the last year now so it’s great to see it in all of its’ final glory. What do you guys think, is the new Indo amazing?

On a scale of 1-10 Rate This New UPDATE!
I rate it a 9. The Indominus Rex seems to just roar at you a bit, they could, for instance, where it looks through the broken wall, make it jump forward trying to eat you. For the rest it's supercool!
9. Perfect except for the scale of the first indo head. It just looks so small compared to the others. I’m glad they fixed this ride, though.
Looks amazing guys! Great footage - a 10 for us as it's such an improvement over the first iteration of the Jurassic World overlay!

@@eftelboy I think the reason for that could be they just reused the same animatronic that was in the finale before the update. But I agree with what you're saying.
The Fact that the Indominus Rex moves like a real living creature is just next level.

That last segment was better looking than the both of the Jurassic World movies. That was some true old school Jurassic Park feeling right there.

I rode the one in Florida and it’s the same sort of layout but the drop is at least 3 times as tall

I remember going on this ride nearly 20 years ago. As a kid they look very real. This new upgrade they did is astonishingly well done.

Thats how they fillmed most of the movies, with animatreonics, then they switched to cgi, but the movies mainly had only animatronics (with some cgi)

As much as these new animatronics are impressive, I still love the two little dinosaurs fighting over the hat that are clearly just two pivots.
Rather charming, aren't they?
They are my favorite. I do miss the popcorn bag, as it gave the feeling of a typical tourism day gone wrong..but eating the hat is quite clever and fun aswell. Shows how awry things have went on a deeper level

Fun fact, my fiancees friend works at Universal and that’s his hat! He works on the ride and had to evacuate a boat before COVID hit and his hat fell in the water. The found the hat in the intake and the creative team decided to add it as a prop
Didn't even know they were working on updating the ride. Whoever ever designed the Indominus deserves a construction award it's both awesome and terrifying.

Actually it's brilliant as to how the ride distracts you into watching the Indominus and T Rex facing off, and THEN plunging you down. I was just looking up, marveling at the heads and before I know it, WHAM down you go. That's a great example of 'misdirection'. Well done!

@@remyd8767 Nah, the trex head coming out felt like a climax. Trying to see what happens between the TRex and Indominous was such a strong distraction that I forgot even just watching this video, that there was a drop. Very effective.

I went on this yesterday, the lighting on the indominous wasn’t working for the end scene due to technical rehearsals and it was terrifying just seeing that absolutely massive shadow coming closer to our boat, 10/10 even without being fully visible to me

I still feel like the og Jurassic Park ride was more scary but this one is more perfected
I miss the brontosaurus 🦕, that moment when you'd hear the music, and the rider looked up was EPIC! Now when the ride starts it's just screens, and the track doesn't even transition, or elevate from "underwater to surface", just BAM, waterfall.
It does look nicer, but the problems with the new ride are really the layout, which is difficult to fix cause the limited space.
@@dandeleon2764 I miss the sauropods dearly. One problem with the Mosasaur tank is that from certain vantage points, the tank is nonsensical. When the Mosasur approaches the real-life rocks towards the end of he tunnel, its tail and overall body length just do not not fit, giving this sense to my brain that something is off.
I agree, but I haven't actually ridden it. From watching this though, I do find the original a bit more "scary." You know what I think is missing from this version? The alarms in the raptor pen area. Alarms are frightening. We've been taught/conditioned since we were toddlers that "alarm=something bad". In the OG version you have those flashing red alarms with the piercing sound.....the dropping cage....and then the big hill ascent with strobe lights flashing.
However, the Orlando one is a bit less scary at the end now though at the end.... because they changed the lighting around the T-Rex.

They changed the lighting from like red to green, increased the brightness, and decreased the fog.
It made what should be the most terrifying part a lot less scary.
You see too much of the T-Rex's body in the new version. It's less ominous, and being an older animatronic, doesn't look that great. And I have no clue who thought changing the lights from red to green was a good decision. Red lights are ominous. Green....not so much.
@@eric3529 this is why in the tiny Singaporean park they made an attempt at the old foggy red alarm thing and it was surprisingly relatively effective!
@@eric3529 Ok, yes, that DEFINITELY transported me back to being 7 years old and thinking, "holy shit, this was a terrible mistake!" That final area was definitely made with the solo T-rex in mind, it looks like a scene from paper that was perfectly recreated in real life.

While this is an improvement, it still lacks the buildup of the original ride along with the beginning being very lacking.

YES, I loved how foggy the ending of the ride was when the Jurassic Park version originally opened up, they also used a lot of water (the huge waterfall that the trex hid behind) which made it look even more natural and mixed perfectly with the fog. It seems like they are shying away from using effects like that unfortunately.

I had the same reaction as everyone else in the end after the drop. I never rode this but saw the videos from before, this ride went from a 5/10 to a full 10/10. That final Indominous was truly something to look at, if they made a carbon copy in Orlando, I'd have no complaints at all. So glad they changed this.
The two rides are not even the same design. So you will see a different design. Unless they completely rebuild the Orlando one they will never be the same.

I don’t know that it would be as cool as this if they did it in Florida. One of the coolest parts to me is how you see the Indominus multiple times in the buildup for the finale. However, the first time is just because they had the extra temporary Indominus, and the second is a reused effect that isn’t in Orlando’s version of the ride, so I doubt either of those would be there
Then again, they would have the opportunity to add new stuff Hollywood’s doesn’t have at all

One of the huge differences is that the finale Indominus Rex is actually moving and getting really close to the boat and it looks like they are actually fighting.

@@ThemeParkShark all of the amazing work put in to this aside, i want to say that the part at 5:54 where the ride picked up speed a bit and had that little rush drop was definitely needed.
Without a haste moment or two in the ride and that feel of your insides feeling the sudden drop of the ride then there would be nothing supplying adrenaline or replay value to the ride. The best part of a roller coaster that makes you want to ride it again are the exciting drops that feel scary, but not life threatening.
If any constructive criticism at all i would say that the ride goes little too slow at some points(which helps the rider view absolutely everything) but on some parts where there isnt alot to see it should go just another 1mph faster or something.
It's so slow on some parts that it's impossible to miss anything, idk if changing the timing of the ride on one section would ultimately cause y'all to have to alter the timing of the animations on all segments after as well though.
I think this could only benefit the ride, so that if someone if riding it for their second or third time it will still feel like the first time because they aren't running out of visual stimulation way before moving on to the next section of the ride.

That was one of the coolest animatronics I've seen. She was walking. I know the Indo was walking on a track but it looked so good. Second favourite animatronic ever made. Still not cool enough to beat the Na’vi shaman from the Pandora river raft ride.
@@PeppersGhost well it’s probably easier to access than the Yeti on Expedition and Everest. The Yeti you have to tear of the mountain and than tear up some of the track so I heard.

I absolutly love the fact that they changed the illumination of the T-Rex so now you don't see the metal parts of the animatronic itself, and how the Indominus now chases you through the ride is super cool 💖
This is such a massive improvement, there’s more animatronics throughout so the ride doesn’t feel empty and the less dinos at the end is actually better because they really feel like a threat, especially when you’re caught between the rexes!

I really hope it comes now. The esrly version when the first opened it was just ok. Liked the Mosasaurus part but also missed the grand entrance. But all the Indo AAs are great and the inside portion is amazing. Would love to see this. With the velocicoaster and raptor meet they really are slowly turning it into Jurassic World too. Just update the visitors center and ride and it’s all fully themed to it

Gone away are the days of screens and bad animations (the tank effect gets a pass)! Seems like Disney and Universal are switching rolls, Universal making genuinely well thought out and good rides while Disney is leaning on screens.
It makes sense using screens for the tank because it would be impossible to create a 70 foot animatronic of that in the water.
@@TwilightLink77 there are transparent OLEDs that could create the creature, but initially when I first saw it I figured maybe there was some water behind it with a mirror effect, but no, it's just a parallax sceen.

@@ThemeParkOgre From rumors online, the Jurassic World attraction there seems to have guests get into the middle of another battle with the Indominous and T-rex, though this time using the ride vehicles from Spider-Man and/or Transformers and going under the animatronics as they battle it out. If that does indeed turn out to be true, it will be insane.

I will never forgive Universal Studios for replacing Park with World. It was my all time favorite ride on the whole planet.
With that said, I will admit that this update makes a lot more sense then when it first opened and it was bland.
It’s still bland in the beginning, tank scene, and Predator Cove. Jurassic Park was way better in those areas. Even the finale despite having better animatronics is missing intensity how the plot is structured. Fog, waterfalls, moving pipes, and siren lights 🚨 added a lot of movement previously which are missing in this version.
The og Jurassic Park ride still in Japan if you're interested on going there plus Jaws and Spider Man too

@@sunspot5 No we are getting Velocicoaster in Orlando as an update the land should be open in June. No plans to re-theme original Park entrance/theme.

Universal always makes the best rides. I bet after 15 years or so this ride will still be there.. I remember being like 9 or 10 and riding the Jurassic Park one and then coming back when I was 20 or so and it brought back good memories.
Oh and Jaws.. oh man I miss the Jaws ride.

@@jfk1000 That's Orlando, Hollywood had King Kong Encounter on the Studio Tour, which is now King Kong 360 3-D. But it would be cool if there was a Godzilla vs Kong attraction in Hollywood's Studio Tour. Replacing King Kong 360 3-D, that is.
First I already knew that but I still want them to bring it back. Second, Universal doesn’t have the rights to the new Godzilla vs Kong but they could make it based of the 1962 version since they distributed it in the United States.

I’m absolutely mindblown with all of the upgrades, especially the Indominus Rex animatronic at the end that now has a body rather than just a head peeking out from behind some plants

The way the indominus Rex moved, it was just too realistic
Parts of it are so barren and they’re still using some of the old animatronics. They really stand out now.

Now THATS how you do a dino ride. Im proud of them for listening and fixing things: adding more indominus and more lifelike less static movements, took away the dumb static dead pteradon piece and added some great pieces instead, making it dark inside the final area as to make it creepier and show less so its more suprising, and to hide the animatronics just a bit so as not to ruin the effect, and OH MY WORD THE WHOLE ENDING: The indominus' movement was matched with sound and was so lifelike and fast and REAL, and the timing of the trex at the last second as you fall is PERFECT just as its about to eat you, i mean....ohhh my goooossshhhh YES

I just love how clear this video is. I could actually see where the dinosaurs are coming from, where as in other videos, it's kind of hard to see.
This is such a major improvement on many levels! Talk about a turn around on quality. Fixing and adding new animatronics makes it much more immersive. This is now the best version of the ride, they've earned that

This is such a substantial improvement over the previous version. I thought they were only going to be changing the Indominous Rex at the end, but to see the addition of the head animatronic to another part of the attraction, as well as replacing the pterodactyl massacre with the compys and adding back in another dilophosaurus, it really shows Universal's commitment to next-level attractions. When the original version of this premiered, I feared for the fate of the River Adventure at Islands of Adventure, but now I'm all on board for this upgrade. Having the Velocicoaster in the park already, this would be an incredible compliment.
It still feels so barren though.
@@Clay3613 In what way? I'm usually quite the critic when it comes to replacing attractions, but this is definitely superior to the Jurassic park version. In this new and improved iteration, it adds more than what Jurassic park had.

@@Clay3613 I'm really not sure what you mean. Sure the Mosasaurus replaced a pretty cool scene, but the rest of the herbivore scenes have remained mostly intact. If anything, there's less dead space than the original version.

This update was honestly amazing! If they make an update like this again, I would want to see new versions of the animatronics in herbivore valley, because they’re basically the same one when Jurassic World was Jurassic Park

I’m bummed out they got rid of the dead pterodactyls next to the indo cage, it was brutal and awesome. Now it’s just a broken gyrosphere
honestly I prefer the gyrosphere. Before it felt empty.
I was just happy to see some gore, even though it didn’t look too great lol the original ride used to always make me laugh when they would have the dilophosaurus on the destroyed boat chewing on clothing and there would be Mickey ears floating that have been chewed up, love that jab at Disney lol
They should add a smoke affect to the Gyrosphere to make it like it blew up or something but other then that amazing, mind blowing !!💯🔥🔥🔥🔥😱
