I’ve been running in ASICS for 30 years as 50% of my shoe rotation is ASICS with several other brands making up the the other 50%. Novablast was a game changer for me already, now I’m even more stoked for version 3! Seth, great interview with Robert. Came for the shoe reviews, staying for the daily variety. Thanks!
Loved ASICS in the late 80’s! It’s US headquarters used to be near Univ. Of California, Irvine and so it sponsored our team to multiple Top 15 NCAA Div 1 XC finishes. Let’s hope the shoes propel Sara Hall to great things soon…
: Sound Mind Sound body: Starts with coffee, and your vlog, then at some point in the morning a run/lift, and now that our kids are old enough to be at home solo, an evening walk with my wife, where we have and hour to an hour and half of amazing conversation, that keeps my cup full
Good show Seth. My first “official” running shoe was the ASICS Tiger in 1979. I remember it cost so much money for a seventh grader but I was so proud to have them. Decades later, I have wandered in and out of ASICS brand, but am finding my home with them again. Keep up the good work. And I missed the Polish coffee mug this morning. Mine is about to land in the sink so I can head out the door to run. Enjoy the day Seth.
Thanks for this great interview, Seth. I like how Robert seemed confident with all the release timelines. Gives a bit of hope despite all the factories shutting down in Vietnam! Have a great day 🙂
Wonderful interview! This brought me back to fitness running in college. As a poor college student in the 90's, I could only afford one pair of shoes that I used for both class and running. I ran in one pair of Asics (not sure of the name) for 4 years! I stopped running for 15 years due to injuries and laziness. I'm back running and excited to try the Novablast 2. Sound body and sound mind is so true. QOD: Daily movement is the key for me. I stopped focusing so much on having the perfect workout plan and now I simply get outside to exercise each day. Even if it can only be a short 2 mile run or a walk just TURN THE DOORKNOB!
QD: sound body sound mind for me is morning walks, stretches, or course our favorite…running, and to wrap it up reflections of the day with meditation.
Glad to hear that Asics will continue the Magic Speed line. Pretty stoked for Nova3 next year! QD: 4-5miles run brings me inner peace throughout the day.
This vlog was amazing, so insightful and a new appreciation for ASICS. Great Seth, love your excitement and keeping us tuned in! Going to have to take those gliderides out tomorrow
Thank you. Thank you! Wonderful interview. LOVE the Novoblast 2!! It is my favorite daily trainer and I will be running in it this very morning. Propulsive bounce and trampoline effect describe the ride perfectly and why I love running in the shoe so much, even more than my Mach 4's or Max Road 5 and I love those shoes a lot. The Novoblast 3 dropping some weight? Fantastic! Weight is the one area of improvement that would be great if they keep that nice bounce energy. My run is certainly the star of my day meshing a mind-body-spirit experience. It teaches me discipline and how to stay mentally tough and deal with physical pain. In the end, my running brings me pleasure in mind-body-spirit.
Love, hearing a large company like ASICS giving respect to consumers and You Tubers like Seth taking input from those who critique shoes with professionalism…..
In France, Asics is going really strong. Most of the people I see running here in Paris wear Asics or Hokas. Personally, I've started running in clearance rack Asics Windhawks, and stuck with the brand since, although I do wish their road running shoes would have more grip, especially when it rains, like Adidas' Continental soles.
Asics were my first running shoes as well! And I agree, the novablast really convinced me to give Asics another fair try as they're certainly not a old-man's-shoe
What an amazing vlog this is. A new playlist needs to be created for running shoe company interviews. Fantastic insight. This vlog has taken the channel to a news level. Fantastic work Seth and ASICS
What an awesome interview! Got a good selection of their recent shoes, all been spot on! Came back to them a few years ago with some of the Gel-Excite range (5&6), then moved on to a Glide-ride 1, loved it and still going strong, Glide-ride 2, Evo-ride, Fujitrabuco Lyte, Gel-Noosa Tri-12. Yet to get my hands (feet?) on a Novablast but sounds like the 3rd gen should line up nicely for next year, can't wait for your review on that.
Fantastic interview Seth - more content like this please! I am a big ASICS fan and would interested in hearing more about the Gel Kayano Lite and other innovations in the support shoe space.
Running already in my 2nd pair of Novablast 1 and boy oh boy am I enjoying this shoe. It’s for sure worth the Tweener alert. Looking forward on running on version 2 and even on 3 next year. Great job Asics.
Fantastic interview Seth. Really enjoyed it. Looking forward to you doing more interviews. 1. Definitely coffee 2. Getting some fresh air everyday even on non running days 3. Getting to work early giving myself 20 minutes to think about the day before I actually start working.
I wish Asics would bring their top line foam into a lower stack shoe. Maybe that's the Edge though. I just remember how much I loved their racing flats from 10 years ago
Thanks for the 2022 lookout. Seth, please tell Asics to make durable trail runners, anti pronation versions as well while they are at it. Love the Kayano's for roadwork but was very disappointed with the durability of the upper mesh of the last 2 versions of the Fuji/Trabuco. Double espresso to start the day with for me.
Asics were my favorite shoe back in the 90s…several versions of Nimbus and Cumulous over the years. I’m excited for the direction they’re going. Onward and Upward! As for his QOD… I start every day with making my bed, followed by push-ups and standing squats… then black coffee. Gotta get moving early to motivate the mind.
Great vlog! I have been running for three years and never considered ASICS before. I would love to try the Novablast 2. I have too many shoes already but maybe Santa will be kind this year. I agree, I need a morning run or the day just isn’t the same.
I just bought a pair of Novablast yesterday and looking forward to trying them out. I made the decision on this purchase based largely on your reviews. I was very excited to see and hear the information in your video today.
Owner of 4 pairs of ASICS trail runners, hard wearing and comfortable. Trabuco Max doing really well for me especially, got me thru a 50k trail race with comfort and protection, good grip and responsive for me. Love ASICS ❤️❤️
I currently have the NB Rebel v2, Saucony Endorphin Speed, Nike Pegasus Turbo 2, Hoka Clifton 7, and Asics Novablast 2 in my rotation. If I were to only keep one, without hesitation it would be the Novablast 2.
What really made this interview was the fact that you (Seth) put so much time in running in all their shoes. Without that background there would have been no back and forth on individual shoes.
Sound mind, sound body: Balancing the desire to push my limits on each run with the need to stay injury free is always a challenging mental exercise that I must complete PRIOR to and during each run. Often, slower is better in the long run.
As someone who sells running shoes in retail as a job it's been really nice to see asics dig their main line of shoes out of the grave over the last year. Their top of the line stuff has been good for a few years now, but seeing the technology from those shoes trickle down to the kayano, 2000, novablast, and trail offerings has me excited for their future.
I started running in asics 10 years ago i then switch to a lot of different brand... i am exited to see the changes they have on the radar it is a pleasure to see a company that really invest on what didn't work and what you need instead 😀 thank you for this one seth!!
In terms of sizing and just a try-on I find the sky series running one full size smaller than Nova blast 2, Cumulus. Definitely looking at trabuco, and fuji for trails!
Great interview! GT-2000 series had been my go to shoe for the last 10 years (high school to now 30) I've had at least 3 dozen pairs of various Asics. Currently have the Gel Keyano and GT 2000 in my rotation.
I don't normally like the shoe reviews as much as the other videos but this was really good. Couldn't help thinking what a great company rep Asics has in Robert!
Currenlty running in some older Pegasus 35s. Been looking at multitude of reviews now and can't find 'the one' as a casual runner starting to train for a half marathon. Sounds like the novablast 2 was going to be my 'just pull the trigger' shoe but after the excitement i just heard, maybe waiting for the NB3 would be better. For reference I live in Aus where the NB2 in boring colours costs 230. Would love to hear your opinion Seth or anyone else out there reading! Love the content!
As I ran the Colorado Springs Half Marathon I noticed one of the athletes pushing someone who could not walk. That person is incredible. We should try to remember how lucky we are to have the ability to run!
ASICS may be the top brand for the recreational runner in Greece just because of the quality of the shoe and the great stability and comfort that they give. I took some time off ASICS to discover Nike Adidas Reebok and other but now I’m stuck again to ASICS with the new lineup.
Hey Seth, great interview. Really impressed with the enthusiasm and energy shown by both you and Robert. It makes me excited to try ASICS again. My QOD, did they ask you to fly the ASICS colors at the NYC Marathon? As you say “beholden to no one”, but maybe nudged by a certain someone?
I so have to agree, my two daughters one with flat feet could only run in the cumulus became a division 2 cross country runner my other daughter slightly over weight is a big fan of the Kayano, these are asics flag ship shoes
Hey, Seth. What happened to the part of the interview where you guys talked about the Noosa Tri 13? It seems it was cut. Would really like to hear about it. Great interview btw thanks
I like the Novablast 2 but I much prefer the originals. The Novablast 2s upper feels more heavily built and the toe box feels tighter on top. I like the lighter feel of the uppers on the originals. The 2's have a 'slappy' ride for me. In about 1981, I bought a pair of my dream shoes, white leather ASICS Tiger Corsairs with the blue and red stripes. I think I paid close to $40 for them. In about 1982 I trained for track in what seemed like a pair of ASICS Tiger racing flats. The outsole was not rubber but a foam like material. I wish I knewthe model or had a picture.
Are we going to ignore the fact that Seth pulled the power move of the day by showing up with New Balance gear at an ASICS interview 😂 😆 Can’t wait to see what ASICS comes up with next.
Sound Body Sound Mind cannot occur independently and must be a priority in life’s balance. To me the Sound Body Sound Mind is addictive and contagious which spreads through all with inspiration, positivity, and kindness. These attributes are made easier through proper gear, including running shoes that excite new adventures, daily self care, and logging miles.
Cant wait for the new Asics Novablast and Magic Speed . Hope the tweaks make them even better . Nice to know weight will be a major factor with the updates. I actually want to get another magic speed but i might wait for the 2.
Interesting the difference between Sky (Longer stride-rs) and Edge (Cadence) I definitely fall in the former category I just wish they'd make their shoes a little wider. But not full "wide fitting"
I picked up the Fuji lite 2 based on your recommendation. They fit like other ASICS shoes which for me fit really well. Can’t wait to put on some serious miles!

On the price question, I still wonder if it makes that much sense to talk about the launch price : I've never paid the standard price for a pair of running shoes, ever... Last purchase was a pair of Glideride 2 at 40% off on Amazon. Why would anyone pay full price if they are concerned about budget?
Novablast vs CumLite vs MagicSpeed. Nova & Cum similar wt, 42/34 vs 34/24. Magic 1+ oz lighter, 34/29. Same foam/feel? Advantage of Nova or Cum over Magic?
I've run in Asics my whole life. Love the shoes - just wish Asics in South Africa would work better with their clientele. Asics shoes end up being hugely expensive here. All shoes i suppose. Love the Novablast and Glideride editions, looking forward to see how the shoes and brand continue to build.
Great Vlog Seth…. Here a thought - when doing shoe are compared to “liked shoe” if you could add the score you gave the “similar shoes” it would be another helpful guide for us runners . Thanks for the consideration : shoe:
I was surprised at how much I enjoyed your interview. Great job chaps.

Super cool interview. I could listen to this for hours. Please do more of these
Awesome work!! Was an ASICS runner 20 years ago.. I may just go back after this one..
I finally ran a sub 6 minute mile! It feels so cool being able to look at my time and say 'I ran a 5:44 mile that day'
Loved ASICS in the late 80’s! It’s US headquarters used to be near Univ. Of California, Irvine and so it sponsored our team to multiple Top 15 NCAA Div 1 XC finishes. Let’s hope the shoes propel Sara Hall to great things soon…

I'm in Australia and ASICS is by far the most worn running shoe brand where I live
Agreed. At least half of which are keyanos.
Agreed. And I run in novablast 2's 😂

I’m surprised you’re still allowed to watch TH-cam videos in Australia.. Sadly Australia is turning into a tyrannical communist party.
Thanks for this great interview, Seth. I like how Robert seemed confident with all the release timelines. Gives a bit of hope despite all the factories shutting down in Vietnam! Have a great day 🙂
QD: great interview Seth! Getting that run in almost every day definitely helps keep the mind and body healthy. Onward and Upward

Super excited to see how ASICS continues to evolve. I’m currently running in the nimbus lite2 and it’s one of my favorites of the year!

Awesome! It would be great to have more interviews with shoe companies!
My first shoes were Kayano’s in 99. Run in GT 2000’s now.
Awesome insights! Robert is a brooks koepka doppelgänger if ever I saw one ! DGR
Interesting the difference between Sky (Longer stride-rs) and Edge (Cadence) I definitely fall in the former category
I just wish they'd make their shoes a little wider. But not full "wide fitting"
I picked up the Fuji lite 2 based on your recommendation. They fit like other ASICS shoes which for me fit really well. Can’t wait to put on some serious miles!
Great interview, Seth! More of this content would be amazing 😁. Interview with hoka?
QD : definitely meditation - keep everything in perspective for mind. Running 4+days a week and resting enough for body.
Thanks a lot for making this happen and kudos to Asics for providing that much visibility.
On the price question, I still wonder if it makes that much sense to talk about the launch price : I've never paid the standard price for a pair of running shoes, ever...
