  • Pinot Noir: The Holy Grail of Wine is a true story of adversity, struggle, and love between the toughest grape - Pinot Noir, and a man whose passion for Pinot Noir would stop at nothing in pursuit of her beauty. Taunted by his addiction to Pinot Noir's mysterious allure, John Saemann, an inexperienced wannabe vintner, is drawn to the magic of Sonoma Mountain, where he pursues his own vision of the Holy Grail of Wine - Clouds Rest.
John is, however, unaware that he is about to encounter years of trials, tribulations, and adversity in the vineyard and in the winery. He takes the challenge of centuries to try the impossible and invests his soul and passion hoping his vineyard can leave a legacy in the world of fine Pinot Noir.

I like concord grape wine, Merlot second then Pinot Noir... Not really a fan of the white wine... but i have a bias fpr concord grape, probably bc i lived in a dry community and had to make my own with what was available locally and welches concord grape juice was all we had. :) and it worked well....

It is an awesome one off product for learning how to become a successful grape grower without the normal expense. Ive heard some extraordinary things about it and my mate after many years got great success with it.

I have a bias to concord grape wine, perhaps its because i been making wine inmate style for ages with welches grape juice. Now i make it more properly with concord grapes and while I enjoy a Pinot Noir, Concord is still my fav... im watching this with some Concord grape wine i made inmate style just to watch this video.. 17..... Pinot Noir is the best of the red varietals - bar none. I'm only disappointed they didn't feature any of the fine
Noirs from Northern Santa Barbara County and the Santa Rita Valley near Lompoc! They're making some of
the best tasting and smoothest I've ever had.

Would like to try this California Pino Noir. Interesting that in Burgundy even though this is a native grape variety and beautiful, they are most famous for their Chardonnay. Also Alsace, though known for white wines especially Riesling we are also here growing nice Pinot Noir; but this will not be a Grand Cru even if grown on Grand Cur land because it is not a noble grape in Alsace. Adding to my wish list try Pino Noir from Clouds Rest Vineyards. Very nice documentary!

    Hold on a minute........
The winemaker was standing their at the cold soak doing punchdown for colour & flavour extraction. He said that happens for a week before actual fermentation starts.......
But then he said they are going to press it out after a week to 14 days & put straight into oak barrels, is that without the fermentation stage???? Cant be, something got cut out here or the script is wrong..........

I have only been drinking wine seriously for about 6 months or so. I thought wine was going to be sweet. So you could imagine my shock drinking cab. It took me the whole bottle before I started to get it and like it. Once I did, every other wine I had didn't stand up to a good cab. Being new to wine, I didn't know it was the tannins that I was enjoying so much. So Pinot just tastes bland, as do the others I have tried except riesling. I don't hate it, I just think they're overreacting to it. Again I am new, so it may be a flawed opinion. That's how I feel right now.
